Food was terrific as usual. Lobster dish fantastic & all the sushi / fish dishes are amazing. desserts were good but not great but not as exciting as main menu. Found service a bit slow getting dishes out, topping up wine but otherwise pleasant. Atmosphere in the "outdoor" back area is really terrific & thankfully we aren't showered with loud music & distractions. Good vibe & full on Wednesday!

November 28, 2019: Terrible service & poor decision made by management which made Jatoba lose $30,000+ in business. 🙄?We ordered many cocktails & at least 1 bottle of wine plus many dishes. Our bill for two people was around $350. Both myself & my business associate frequent Jatoba often. We (our company's) have spent over $30,000 annually at Jatoba. (& that's not counting the referrals we make). We often bring clients & our employees to Jatoba. One of the dishes was a lobster plate. It had 4 small pieces of lobster spread apart & that part with the legs that you can't really eat much of which we didn't. I took my first bite & told my companion that something tasted off but we kept chatting & drinking as we were discussing a serious business matter. He had a lot to drink & his taste buds were not the best. I took 1 more bite after drinking water & this time I knew the lobster was stale. It tasted like ammonia. Our waiter was advised that the lobster was bad & we shared the details with him. I even told him I felt sick & dizzy which was true. He took the dish, didn't apologize or say anything & continued to bring us our other dishes & drinks. When the bill came we saw that the $52 lobster was on the dish. We thought that this was bold & unprofessional considering we told the waiter the lobster was stale. We called him over & he said he cannot do anything because most of the fish had been eaten. This response was also unprofessional. I asked him to call the manager over (dark hair, short beard, glasses) to discuss this. He was arrogant & said that the chef could not validate if what we were saying was true as there was not much left so he could not remove the charge. To begin with, the portion was so small. & we shared it. So naturally if both people take 1 bite at least 50% of the meal is already gone.
My companion told the manager that we dine at Jatoba all the time & we bring many clients to the restaurant & spend a lot of money there. & he also said that if the $50 charge is removed we will continue to come & spend a substantial amount of money at Jatoba. But if it's not removed neither of us, nor anyone from our company's, will come back. The manager stated he would not remove the charge. So since Nov 28 we have not been back. But where we have been (Marcus, le Bremner, Beatrice, Maison Boulud, Milos, Damas, Da'Emma, Fishbone, Lucille's, Monarque, Bouillon Bilk, etc) since then has tallied about $12,000 & counting. The holiday dinners are still underway. One more that's coming up has a budget of $5,000. We would have gone to Jatoba had that $52 been removed. Also, several colleagues & clients suggested Jatoba & we told them what happened & how we are boycotting Jatoba for their poor & unprofessional demeanour. They stated they would do the same. Very disappointing Jatoba.
