My wife & I ate at Casavant while visiting Montreal this weekend & had an all around lovely experience. We were definitely the only non-Francophones in attendance but all staff from the owners to servers were so kind & helpful. They helped us through the wine list & we ended up with a perfect bottle. We shared the scallops, beef tartare, duck & seabass. All four dishes were incredible, but the scallops were a favourite. One of the owners made us a list of other restaurants, bars & sites to see when he found out it was our first time in Montreal.
All around great experience & would highly recommend.
Nice Little resto. Best scallops I've ever had. Tasting menu at 75$ is a very good way to discover the restaurant if it's your first time. They also had a dinner reasonably priced wines, within context. I can't wait to go back.

Nous avons eu un très bon service & les plats étaient aussi bien réussis. La carte est courte (5 entrées, 5 plats principaux, 2 désserts), mais je crois que c'est la meilleure stratégie pour bien contrôler la qualité & les coûts. En vous souhaitant longue vie.

What a wonderful place - staff was warm & welcoming, & let me have small tastes of a lot their wine. Bartender guided me to exactly what I wanted. The scallop & sea bass dishes were divine.
The food went from very good to truly excellent. However, the pace of the service was way off.
Our appetizers arrived before the cocktails. Given the evident care & effort that went into preparing such outstanding dishes, it would have been more appropriate & more profitable for the restaurant to allow us to enjoy our drinks first & then pair the food with the corresponding wine.
Serving the dishes without regard to timing felt careless. It does a disservice to the people who put so much thought into the cooking & is frustrating for those paying to fully experience it as intended.
Favorite restaurant experience in Montreal during my most recent visit. Absolutely incredible meal from start to finish!! Delicious, creative dishes that were executed with the highest craft. Friendly & attentive staff that were helpful in wine & meal pairings. Couldn't recommend more!
They don't do restaurants like this anymore. The service was excellent, every ingredient was fresh. Best beef tartare I've ever tasted. Would definitely recommend, & would definitely go back

Repas de fête tout bonnement incroyable. Meilleur tartare de ma vie, onglet magnifique, les pâtes au sanglier & le parfais de fois gras de madame étaient de toute aussi haute volée.
Accueil adorable, je mentionne a demi mot que c'est la fête de ma femme & on nous mets une bougie sur le dessert, si simple attention qui résume le soin du détail de cette magnifique enseigne.

J'ai été mangé sur leur terrasse cet été, prix très raisonnable pour la qualité des produits servis. Assiette très bien montées & travaillées. Définitivement un des meilleurs resto que j'ai essayé dans les dernières années.

I have dined at 2 star Michelin restaurants & was intrigued that Casavant had a 4.8 rating. I attempted a few weeks ago to get a reservation & was a no-go. With Montreal's economy quickly falling apart & many other establishments now empty, why was this place still difficult to get a reservation at?
Finally I booked a table tonight for 5:30. A little earlier than I like, nonetheless, I was intrigued. We ordered oysters to start, it was very good. I ordered the short ribs & my SO ordered the fish. Coincidentally last night I saw a video which turned out to be AI of someone cutting into the juiciest prime rib with nothing but a fork.
Little did I know that I would have this experience in real life. The short ribs were stupendous, & that's not a term that I use lightly. Perfectly prepared, melt in your mouth. It was ecstasy in the form of meat.
I will be back. I would like to compliment the chefs, it was a meal worthy of comment.
