Japan Week Returns to Montreal

Japan Week returns to Montreal May 1 to 10, 2026, for an immersive celebration of Japanese culture citywide. In ten days, 30+ venues including restaurants, shops and events offer a free urban trail showcasing cuisine, traditions and Japan's diversity. Highlights: Shiba & Akita Gathering, Nihoncha Canada Tea Festival, Chibi Market, and a chance to win two Air Canada tickets to Japan.

The 6th edition of Japan Week is back in Montreal from May 1st to 10th, 2026, offering an immersive celebration of Japanese culture across the city.

Over ten days, Montrealers can explore more than 30 participating locations, including restaurants, specialty shops, and exclusive cultural events. This free urban trail is the perfect opportunity to experience Japanese cuisine, traditions, and culture without leaving the city.

Visitors can enjoy a wide range of culinary and cultural experiences highlighting the richness and diversity of Japan.

Not-to-miss events:

Shiba & Akita Gathering

On May 2nd, the Côte-des-Neiges plaza will host the largest gathering of Shiba and Akita dogs in Canada. Dog lovers and fans of Japanese culture are invited to join in, whether dressed in kimono, yukata, or casual attire.

Nihoncha Canada Tea Festival

Also on May 2nd, Charyū by Thés Guru will present the largest event in Canada dedicated to Japanese tea, in collaboration with producers from Japan.

Chibi Market

From May 7th to 10th, Time Out Market Montreal will host a creative market featuring local artisans, illustrators, and creators inspired by Japanese culture, as part of the Asiasie Festival.

Exclusive Giveaway

Participants will also have a chance to win two tickets to Japan, courtesy of Air Canada, valued at approximately $6,000.
