We had a fantastic experience at Cadet, it exceeded my expectations. The service was great, the ambiance was lively but also relaxed, & the food was outstanding. We had a perfectly coursed 3 course meal. The black cod was the standout dish. I also went to Mon Lapin on this trip & preferred my experience & the food here.
Everything was the best we ever had. Unbelievably good!
Fingerling potatoes -- best we ever had.
Asparagus -- best we ever had ,, & the burnt tips made it all the more phenomenal.
Cod croquettes -- best we ever had.
Flank steak -- best we ever had.
Bread pudding -- (OMG!! I grew up loving bread pudding) -- best we ever had.
Excellent repas.
The food was good, I would give it a 7/10. The scallops were delicious, the flank steak was mediocre. But the service was atrocious. It was slow, it took the waiter over 30 minutes to take our order after we arrived. The drinks came out long after the food despite being ordered far in advance. My wife does not like raisins & asked if it was in the bread pudding. The waiter said no. When the bread pudding came out, not only were there lots of raisins, they were giant. She couldn't eat the dessert. When we told the waiter, he said sorry but didn't offer to replace it with another dessert or remove it from the bill. We ended up paying for a dessert she didn't eat due to the waiter's error that was not rectified. There are much better places to eat that will cost you less.
One of the best meals I've had in Montreal. Worth the money & exceptional value. Great for a date night in a cool part of the city.
The Focaccia was delicious. Soft with a slightly crisp crust. The accompanying cheddar & spicy oil sauce was amazing.
The leeks with smoked mackerel, mustard, & tobikko were also very delicious. Though the portion was a bit small for the price, & did leave me desiring a bit more. I could easily eat three of these.
The flank steak was very good. The szechuan pepper sauce was heavenly, but the burnt chili salsa left a slightly bitter note, & the pickled peppers were a bit too sweet & reminded me of hot dog relish. I could do without some of those elements.
The pavlova was very good. A sensational experience. Warm & cold. Crunchy & soft. Dry & wet. All in the same bite. Very pleasant finish to what was a great meal.
Had high expectations but to be honest, all 3 mains, black cod, chicken wings & beef are too salty & the service is cold.
So so magically delicious. We ordered a variety of dishes & tried a couple of drinks each & every single one amazed. I will be thinking about that miso black cod FOREVER. I highly recommend getting the oysters, their house sauce pairs very well with them. The service was absolutely lovely & very accommodating. I docked a point for atmosphere just because it was a bit too loud at times. Well worth the visit!
