49th Parallel Micro-Torréfacteur Cafe opens its doors in Montreal at its first ever location outside of British Columbia in the summer of 2021. Finding and creating this space was a long, occasionally challenging but always interesting process that took over a year to complete!
The space itself, its location in the heart of Old Montreal and the building’s history were an obvious draw. This was a labour of love from all the people involved in the project, from the contractor to the designer – everyone came together to preserve the charm of the old building with its exposed 100 year old bricks and stone masonry while bringing it to life with a sleek retro design.
Our fourth Café features the 49th coffee everyone knows and loves, Lucky’s donut menu revamped with reimagined Quebec classics and a full kitchen featuring breakfast egg burgers and seasonal brunch offerings (coming soon).
Across reviews, 49th Parallel Café - Lucky's Doughnuts is described as a cozy, popular spot with solid coffee and a tempting lineup of donuts and pastries, a dependable place to work or study thanks to good wifi and ample seating, and a friendly, professional staff even when service is uneven during busy times; some drinks fall short such as a mocha not sweet enough and an inconsistent matcha, while prices stay on the higher side, but the donuts and pastries are widely praised as delicious and fresh, making the overall vibe calm, bright, and welcoming in Old Montreal and worth a visit for a quick coffee break or a longer study session.
Really good pastries/donuts. We had a traditional triple chocolate & a choco-caramel. Delicious. Went in the late afternoon & few choices were left which makes sense at the end of the day. Were also out of drip coffee by then. Go earlier for more. Enjoyed people watching out the large windows.

Top tier coffee shop. They have San remo Cafe racer espresso machine. Top tier grinders & a very balanced medium roast espresso bean. Lucky donuts are pricey but very much worth it. I would say this store matches the quality of their original shop in kitsilano Vancouver.
We stopped by for a quick bite for breakfast/brunch. They only have a few items for dining, but it was still worth the visit. The coffee was fantastic, & the breakfast items (mainly breakfast sandwiches) were yummy. The donuts were also delicious: perfectly soft & not too sweet. They were also massive! We saw them being made fresh in-house. The space is bright & airy with a decent amount of seating, but it can get busy. There was a line when we went, but it moved fairly quickly.
A warning for any light coffee drinkers, this one has a KICK. I love strong coffee so their cappuccino hit the spot. The ambiance is very nice, very spacious, & has separate areas with different ambiances to pick where you'd like to sit. I have tried their doughnuts but I couldn't take my eyes off them because they were so pretty. The avocado toast was good but they have many other options for brunch that may be better.

Coffee, amazing. Avo breakfast sandwich, amazing. Service, amazing. Atmosphere, so good. Love everything about this cafe! Disclaimer: I work for 49th in Vancouver, so I may be a bit biased -- but, I would give 49th 5 stars across the board no matter what! :)

Not sure why this gets such great reviews. Pastries & coffee are expensive & so so. Staff are nice. More cleanup on tables & in bathrooms is needed. Garbage can in handicapped bathroom overflowing onto ground & bathroom tissue everywhere. For this price I would expect much better.
Awesome spot! It is a very cozy vibe, the doughnuts are obviously so delicious & the coffee was super enjoyable! Make sure you don't come too late so you have a better selection for the pastries! Will definitely be coming back & highly suggest you give it a try!
