49th Parallel Micro-Torréfacteur Cafe opens its doors in Montreal at its first ever location outside of British Columbia in the summer of 2021. Finding and creating this space was a long, occasionally challenging but always interesting process that took over a year to complete!
The space itself, its location in the heart of Old Montreal and the building’s history were an obvious draw. This was a labour of love from all the people involved in the project, from the contractor to the designer – everyone came together to preserve the charm of the old building with its exposed 100 year old bricks and stone masonry while bringing it to life with a sleek retro design.
Our fourth Café features the 49th coffee everyone knows and loves, Lucky’s donut menu revamped with reimagined Quebec classics and a full kitchen featuring breakfast egg burgers and seasonal brunch offerings (coming soon).
Across reviews, 49th Parallel Café - Lucky's Doughnuts is described as a cozy, popular spot with solid coffee and a tempting lineup of donuts and pastries, a dependable place to work or study thanks to good wifi and ample seating, and a friendly, professional staff even when service is uneven during busy times; some drinks fall short such as a mocha not sweet enough and an inconsistent matcha, while prices stay on the higher side, but the donuts and pastries are widely praised as delicious and fresh, making the overall vibe calm, bright, and welcoming in Old Montreal and worth a visit for a quick coffee break or a longer study session.

The coffee & the food is overall not bad but the bathroom is the nastiest bathroom I have ever seen. Do the staff even bother to ever clean it ??? It's disappointing how such a nice located coffee is poorly maintained.
Pire place.
Coffee taste burnt & bitter lately. & current trend of the type of customers coming here are making this place unpleasant now. & let's not even start with the attitude & bad service from the new workers.
I went last Saturday & ordered a mocha. First, the customer service was terrible. I said my name clearly, & the cashier gave me a completely different name. The service was slow, there were many customers waiting for their orders, & on top of that, they had the wrong names. The mocha was awful-bitter, expensive, & tasteless.

First time here today & Alex the manager is a super star! & His staff is super friendly & professional. I recommend this place for any time of day the sweets are phenomenal as Is the coffee.
I was invited by a friend. Had the small latte & a glazed (old fashioned) doughnut. Both were awesome. Shall definitely return. The place was packed by the way.
Nice cozy cafe. I like the seating arrangement. There are some nice tucked-away tables in the corners around the cafe, less distraction.
I ordered a mocha to go. Unfortunately, it wasn't sweet enough to my liking. At first, I thought all the syrup was at the bottom & that the barista hadn't swirled/mixed thoroughly with the steamed milk... Alas, nothing there either. Tasted more like a regular latte. Also, not sure what the latte art design was supposed to be.....
Service was meh. Girl at the counter was very professional & helpful. The baristas making the drinks however were too busy chit-chatting with each other & not making any effort to acknowledge their customers. Simply called out the names & left the drinks on the counter without eye contact or greeting them.
I didn't try the donuts but I passed by the pastries & saw some really fancy-looking ones. Might have to give them a try next time I come back.
I really like this place. I've been going there for a while now & I've never been disappointed. I just avoid peak hours so I don't have to wait 7 hours for my coffee. Other than that, it's an awesome place. Thank you.
This cafe almost feels like a hidden gem for students. A calm, bright safe haven for long study hours. Delicious coffee with prices on par with the current state of Montreal cafes (hello $7 iced latte). Enjoy the donuts earlier in the day, maybe skip near the end of the afternoon as they tend to get the tiniest bit hard. A favourite nonetheless!
The guy that took my order was jovial. However, I cannot understand how the person that made my matcha thought it was okay.
I got in because I saw the Uchi matcha on their front door. Beautifully green & delicious looking. Therefore I ordered it.
What was given to me wasn't matcha, it was milk. I was hesitant taking it because it looked so pale, the « barista » looked at the drink & paper & said « ice matcha latte »
I took it, because « what if their matcha is strong ? » « I don't want to be a Karen » well now I had to drink milk with a tiny hint of matcha (an after taste if we can call it that). The reason I felt the need to write this review is that I had to pay 8$ (no tips) for this matcha. Why was I given milk? Why did the barista look at that & thought it was okay to serve…
