49th Parallel Micro-Torréfacteur Cafe opens its doors in Montreal at its first ever location outside of British Columbia in the summer of 2021. Finding and creating this space was a long, occasionally challenging but always interesting process that took over a year to complete!
The space itself, its location in the heart of Old Montreal and the building’s history were an obvious draw. This was a labour of love from all the people involved in the project, from the contractor to the designer – everyone came together to preserve the charm of the old building with its exposed 100 year old bricks and stone masonry while bringing it to life with a sleek retro design.
Our fourth Café features the 49th coffee everyone knows and loves, Lucky’s donut menu revamped with reimagined Quebec classics and a full kitchen featuring breakfast egg burgers and seasonal brunch offerings (coming soon).

We come here every time we go to Montreal, & I love their beignes. Enjoy a coffee & some beignes & watch tray after tray of fresh beigness being brought out every 15 to 30 minutes.
They have a nice variety. My personal favorites are the vanilla glazed & the vanilla roussette. My wife loves the chocolate glazed. However, my one disappointment is that they used to have this which we have not been able to get for many of our visits to Montreal. Please make these part of your regular offerings again
Incredible staff & coffee, but pricey compared to other spots in the area
First time visiting this café & I was disappointed with the service. When I asked where the cutlery was, the answer was given in a rather curt tone, as if it should have been obvious, even though I'd never been there before. Even when handing me my coffee, the staff were cold & not engaging. It really didn't make me want to return.
Our fave coffee spot in downtown
Montreal. Perfect lattes & hot chocolates, the dreamiest foam art, cozy vibes, & that signature turquoise cup magic every time-it's our little city escape.
My favorite coffee! I usually order the beans online but went & bought some donuts too was definitely worth it & will go back
Came with kids for quick snack & coffee. The baked doughnuts were not too sweet & the kids loved it. Lots of sets to sit & have a chat & take a break. Does not offer pour over. But their filter & americano were pretty good. Would come again for a coffee break if we're in the area.
Excellent donuts & coffee. A bit pricey. Ample space for work, study or catching up with friends.
A really nice coffee shop. Great location, coffee & pastries!
49th Parallel came through with donuts so big they could probably qualify as real estate. I thought I was grabbing a quick sweet tooth snack, but one donut was enough to feed my whole family tree. Size aside, they're actually really good... like really good: fluffy, sweet, & worth every bite.
I paired mine with a regular coffee. Coffee was… fine. Standard fuel, nothing to write home about. The donut definitely stole the show.
I almost went for takeout until I saw those paper bags. Let's just say me vs. giant donut in a tiny paper bag would've been a public anger-management seminar, so I opted to sat down dine-in instead. Good call! the café has solid wifi, nice atmosphere, & I didn't have to battle pastry packaging.
Prices lean on the higher side, especially for coffee, but honestly, the donuts make it worth it. If you're in Old Montreal & want to test your sweet tooth stamina, this is the spot.
The coffee & donuts are good but the service is terrible. I had a really bad experience. The waitress was so rude. I will never going back there again
Very, very good coffee. My go to coffee shop when I'm at work. The doughnuts are really something else too! The only downside I find is the price of the the food. Coffee is rightly priced for quality, but things like breakfast sandwiches are really overpriced, even though they are good. Same for the doughnuts. I get they are specialty doughnuts but at over 5$ per piece it's a bit much. I guess the upside is that it's deterrent for eating too much. They should at least have box discounts, because at that price it's kind of difficult to get a box of 12 for a meeting.
Went there at 5:10 on a day they closed at 6. All donuts were cleared from the shelves already. I had gone in the past in the early morning & had a good experience with the donuts. Fresh & a unique flavor. But today I was disappointed that I couldn't get the donuts.
We ordered some coffees to go. The coffee is quite good. I bought the beans to make them at home too. Only down side was not being able to get the donuts.
The doughnuts are giant & so rich in flavour. I chose the salt caramel one & it was glossy & delicious. The coffee & teas were good as well. The atmosphere was a little loud & crowded but that only reflects how good they are.
Honestly one of the BEST coffee shops in Montreal. The staff were amazing, I even became a regular there & they all remembered me. The donuts are sooo good. 10/10 ♥?
Relaxed vibe & friendly staff. The glazed donut was crispy on the outside & soft inside. Loved the maple coffee too - smooth & just the right amount of sweetness. Great spot to unwind.
Loooove the coffee & doughnuts here! Breakfast sandwich also really hits the spot. Baristas are super friendly & knowledgable
coffee is ok, need to try their doughnuts though… good service & ambience
