49th Parallel Micro-Torréfacteur Cafe opens its doors in Montreal at its first ever location outside of British Columbia in the summer of 2021. Finding and creating this space was a long, occasionally challenging but always interesting process that took over a year to complete!
The space itself, its location in the heart of Old Montreal and the building’s history were an obvious draw. This was a labour of love from all the people involved in the project, from the contractor to the designer – everyone came together to preserve the charm of the old building with its exposed 100 year old bricks and stone masonry while bringing it to life with a sleek retro design.
Our fourth Café features the 49th coffee everyone knows and loves, Lucky’s donut menu revamped with reimagined Quebec classics and a full kitchen featuring breakfast egg burgers and seasonal brunch offerings (coming soon).
Across reviews, 49th Parallel Café - Lucky's Doughnuts is described as a cozy, popular spot with solid coffee and a tempting lineup of donuts and pastries, a dependable place to work or study thanks to good wifi and ample seating, and a friendly, professional staff even when service is uneven during busy times; some drinks fall short such as a mocha not sweet enough and an inconsistent matcha, while prices stay on the higher side, but the donuts and pastries are widely praised as delicious and fresh, making the overall vibe calm, bright, and welcoming in Old Montreal and worth a visit for a quick coffee break or a longer study session.
Pire place.

Nice cozy cafe. I like the seating arrangement. There are some nice tucked-away tables in the corners around the cafe, less distraction.
I ordered a mocha to go. Unfortunately, it wasn't sweet enough to my liking. At first, I thought all the syrup was at the bottom & that the barista hadn't swirled/mixed thoroughly with the steamed milk... Alas, nothing there either. Tasted more like a regular latte. Also, not sure what the latte art design was supposed to be.....
Service was meh. Girl at the counter was very professional & helpful. The baristas making the drinks however were too busy chit-chatting with each other & not making any effort to acknowledge their customers. Simply called out the names & left the drinks on the counter without eye contact or greeting them.
I didn't try the donuts but I passed by the pastries & saw some really fancy-looking ones. Might have to give them a try next time I come back.
This cafe almost feels like a hidden gem for students. A calm, bright safe haven for long study hours. Delicious coffee with prices on par with the current state of Montreal cafes (hello $7 iced latte). Enjoy the donuts earlier in the day, maybe skip near the end of the afternoon as they tend to get the tiniest bit hard. A favourite nonetheless!
le café est vraiment délicieux, le latté aussi & les beignes , c'est le mal ^_^ ça donne envie de goûté à toutes les beignes au présentoir j'ai adoré !!
Coffee & doughnuts: a match made in Old Montreal heaven. ☕?🍩
If you're looking for the ultimate mid-day pick-me-up, 49th Parallel Café & Lucky's Doughnuts - McGill is calling your name. From their world-class direct-trade coffee to those legendary, hand-crafted Lucky's Doughnuts, it's the perfect spot to refuel in style.
Did you know that this stunning location-the brand's first-ever flagship outside of British Columbia-was a true labor of love? It took over a year to complete the renovation, meticulously preserving the building's 100-year-old exposed brick & stone masonry to blend Old Montreal charm with a sleek, retro aesthetic. ✨
Stop by to watch the pastry chefs through the glass-walled kitchen as they roll out fresh dough all day long! 🥐🏙?
It was our first time here. It's really a very cool place in the middle of downtown Montréal. It's cozy vibes gives the customers to enjoy coffee with bakery items & it's the WiFi facility makes the customers to sit here for long hours. Its prices are affordable in terms of coffee & donuts. I ordered matcha coffee, espresso coffee & the taste was amazing. The quality of the pistachio donut was okay types according to my experience but not too great as well but the raspberry donut was pretty good. Overall, it's a cool cafe to enjoy coffee & bakery items.
First time visiting this café & I was disappointed with the service. When I asked where the cutlery was, the answer was given in a rather curt tone, as if it should have been obvious, even though I'd never been there before. Even when handing me my coffee, the staff were cold & not engaging. It really didn't make me want to return.
Wow! Nous avons adoré! Évidemment le café est délicieux, mais j'ai adoré l'ambiance, le service & le look général de ce café! C'est un endroit qui semble très populaire car c'était rempli un samedi PM.

49th Parallel came through with donuts so big they could probably qualify as real estate. I thought I was grabbing a quick sweet tooth snack, but one donut was enough to feed my whole family tree. Size aside, they're actually really good... like really good: fluffy, sweet, & worth every bite.
I paired mine with a regular coffee. Coffee was… fine. Standard fuel, nothing to write home about. The donut definitely stole the show.
I almost went for takeout until I saw those paper bags. Let's just say me vs. giant donut in a tiny paper bag would've been a public anger-management seminar, so I opted to sat down dine-in instead. Good call! the café has solid wifi, nice atmosphere, & I didn't have to battle pastry packaging.
Prices lean on the higher side, especially for coffee, but honestly, the donuts make it worth it. If you're in Old Montreal & want to test your sweet tooth stamina, this is the spot.
Had the croissant with ham & cheese to go. It was crispy & flavorful. It came with a salad which was a nice add on. The cafe is beautiful with lots of seating & a comfy lounge area. Service is great!
Un endroit très joli, propre & grand. On peut rester longtemps, c'est confortable pour se détendre ou travailler.
Le service est rapide & sympa.
La nourriture est bonne : donuts, sandwichs, jus & café.
Le menu est simple & agréable.
