The creation of young, up and coming Montreal restaurateurs, Wienstein & Gavino’s debuted in Montreal in 1996. W&G is a large Mediterranean restaurant spanning two floors and complimented by two terraces in the summer months. A large bar is the focal point of the first floor while the open kitchen complete with brick pizza oven is the main attraction upstairs. W&G is best known for its fresh, homemade pasta and traditional sauces and thin crust pizza. There is also a good selection of steaks, veal, and seafood. W&G serves lunch and dinner every day with a weekly table d’hôte available daily at $12-$16 for lunch and starting at $23 for dinner. In addition, a selection of pizza and pasta is available for 10$ from 11a.m. until 3p.m. for the lunch crowd and after 10pm every day for late night diners looking for a meal after the game, a concert downtown or before hitting the dance floor. W&G can also accommodate groups and can plan your party for you whether you’ve invited 10 people or 300 people! From Monday to Friday there is a “happy hour” at the W&G bar where guests can enjoy 2 for 1 from 4pm until 8pm. After cocktails at the bar, you can choose from one of the largest wine cellars in the city, stocked with reasonably priced wines, private imports, or premium fine wines. The focus is always fun at W&G with a DJ keeping things lively on the weekend and special events year-round. There is always something interesting going on at W&G!
Overall, Weinstein Gavino's is praised for high-quality Italian fare, generous portions, and fresh pasta, with favorites like calamari, burrata bruschetta, arancini, seafood pasta, osso buco, and pizzas, all served in a lively downtown atmosphere with a warm bread and olive oil starter. Service is frequently described as friendly and attentive, and the bar and wine selections are well received, though several reviews mention crowds, noise, and occasional slow pacing during busy periods or small inconsistencies in timing and temperature.
The food that we ordered was absolutely amazing & when you tasted the flavor it burst in my mouth & we were in'pasta heaven'. The staff were so kind & showed my son some water tricks & we had an amazing time. As for the atmosphere the walls & lights made it look so natural & it felt really cozy like you're in Italy. Five stars
Located in the vibrant downtown area near Concordia. I didn't expect the place to be this big, but the service was still great. Our waiter knew what he was doing & checked in regularly without being too intrusive.
We ordered the Salsicce e rapini pizza & a lasagna, both were really delicious & different (in a good way) from what we're used to. We also tried the homemade tiramisu, which was excellent.
I also really liked the interior design of the restaurant, looked traditional & classic!

One of the best Italian restaurants in Montreal! This is our favorite place to go right after going to the cinema. The staff is extremely kind & always on their feet despite the restaurant being super busy. We really love the appetizer Arancini along with the different varieties of pasta & pizza for the actual meal. A definite 10/10 & would highly recommend this place located on Crescent street.
Great atmosphere & lovely patio, but the food was really corporate & just okay. Mostly, the service was inattentive. Your server could walk by you, make eye contact while you're asking for the bill, then not acknowledge you for another 20 minutes.
Nice atmosphere & great location, but parking was a bit hard to find. We tried the Margherita & Pollo Pesto pizzas, & they were honestly just average; I expected a bit more from an Italian restaurant. That said, the cocktails were really good & definitely the highlight of the night.
Malgré le bruit, le service était au top. La serveuse très sympathique & souriante. Les plats sont arrivés très rapidement & les produits sont très bons. Je recommande. Parfait pour des enfants.

This place really needs to be inspected by the government. I went about 18 months ago & woke up later that night with food poisoning. My partner visited last night & woke up out of her sleep throwing up. Two separate instances over such a long span of time suggests serious recurring hygiene problems & a pattern of mismanagement. Service is outstanding & the food certainly tasted good but seriously, what are the odds? If I were you, I wouldn't risk it. It's not worth the money.
Everything was spot on for flavour. Service was very attentive. Very large open area. It did get a bit loud in general. The servers accommodated us to a little less nosy area. Really enjoyed the experience.
We absolutely love Wienstein & Gavino's-it's a must-visit every year when we come to Montreal from Toronto. We were lucky enough to have Kamiah as our server again this year, & she was just as fantastic as we remembered. She's incredibly knowledgeable about the menu & genuinely cares about your experience. At one point she said,'I want you to be as happy as I would want to be when I go out,' which really stuck with us. Her recommendations were spot on every time.
We ended up eating there four times in three days & were never disappointed. The manager, Laura, was also very warm & welcoming, & it's clear she's well respected by the team.
Already looking forward to coming back next year-W&G never disappoints!
Second time in Montreal after 15 years. Was craving some good Italian food. Found this place. Stopped for lunch. We ordered the seafood pasta- mussels, shrimp, calamari, clams, squid- in a tomato sauce. It was amazing! Flavour was just right, pasta cooked perfectly & most importantly it was served hot! Loved every bite!
We did our tour on Mount Royal & decided we should try it once more for supper since it was so delicious!
My husband ordered the pesto, beef pasta- which was outstanding- must try!
I ordered the same seafood pasta but it wasn't as good. It was served warm not hot. A big let disappointment for me. & somehow the seafood tasted like it was just mixed with the sauce. It was mixing the flavours. If I visit Montreal I will definitely return!
The portion was very generous, price is very reasonable & the staff & waiters were amazing!
