Les Saveurs Royalmount

Date: March 4, 2026

The month began with Dalia rediscovering Balam during the Les Saveurs event at Royalmount, an experience that felt like a true immersion into Mexican cuisine. Each course offered a journey from Yucatán to Oaxaca, from oysters paired with a margarita to a mezcal y maracuja palate cleanser, followed by a pato mole that stood out as a highlight of the evening, and ending on a sweet note with crispy, golden churros. Les Cavistes, a charming French bistro and wine bar on Fleury Ouest in the heart of Ahuntsic, is where warm service and a genuine passion for wine stand out. Dalia opted for classic French flavours, starting with a tartare, followed by a rich black pudding served with creamy polenta, Brussels sprout leaves, and marinated Jerusalem artichoke, while Chandni chose a French onion soup and a duck confit Caesar salad. To finish, they shared a generous dessert platter featuring beignets, cannoli, chocolate truffles, beer caramel, and a classic crème brûlée. This cozy spot is clearly a neighbourhood favourite, buzzing at lunch with a mix of locals and the business crowd. Already a standout, Les Cavistes has Dalia eager to explore its sister spots, Cerise Buvette and Chez Cécile Rôtisserie.

Launch of their Sunday Brunch Party

Date: March 08, 2026

Located just across Atwater Market, Velora Café had been on Chandni's list for some time, making it the perfect spot to spend a Sunday discovering their new weekly brunch party, complete with a live DJ and a vibrant menu. She started with a Blue Smoothie and their signature cherry matcha, which pleasantly surprised her despite not usually being a fan of cherry. For food, she opted for the Dutch Baby Shakshuka, a creative twist on the classic, along with the Persian bowl, both flavourful and well-balanced. No visit to Velora is complete without dessert, so she went for the Biscoff tres leches and also sampled their tiramisu. With a live DJ, vibrant energy, and a menu that's as playful as it is satisfying, Velora turns brunch into a full experience. All in all, it's a charming spot for a fun and delicious weekend outing.

Dalia enjoyed a solo date at Nonnina's, an Italian sandwich and pastry spot known for its warm, inviting atmosphere. She opted for a mortadella sandwich, swapping the baguette for their homemade focaccia, which stood out for its freshness and quality, instantly evoking flavours of Italy. To finish, she treated herself to their zeppole, and the pistachio version alone quickly became the unexpected highlight of her visit. While the hazelnut option didn't make a return this year, the space remained lively and busy throughout, welcoming a diverse mix of customers.

Caf' Conc'

Opening Night

March 12, 2026

A night of nostalgia and spectacle, blending past and present in one evening. Dalia and Chandni attended the reopening of Caf' Conc', which has returned after 35 years inside the Hôtel Marriott Le Château Champlain. The evening opened with a welcome cocktail and a red carpet entrance, setting the tone for a celebration that felt both theatrical and meaningful. The space transported guests into 1960s Parisian vibes, creating an atmosphere that was elegant and full of nostalgia. The night was hosted by drag queen Rita Baga, who offered a glimpse into what's to come, including comedy, cabaret, and musical performances. The Caf' Conc' Celebrity series will highlight iconic moments with both past and present artists, with bilingual shows running throughout the season. Dalia and Chandni enjoyed the evening while taking in the performance and savoring a selection of refined amuse-bouche. The upcoming line-up already promises to be one to watch.

Terrebonne - Mascouche à Table

Date: March 19, 2026

Terrebonne - Mascouche à Table returned for a second edition, and Dalia loves discovering new restaurants through food events like this. Leaving Montreal for the occasion allowed her to uncover hidden gems in the North. This year, she discovered Lana's Bistro in Terrebonne, a true little gem for her, though already a well-known hotspot among locals. The restaurant was lively and full, with the owners greeting guests like family, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The four-course menu was incredibly generous for the price, with every bite bursting with flavour and making it difficult to choose a favourite dish. She left with an unforgettable experience and hopes this type of event will return next year so she can continue exploring more restaurants in the Lanaudière region.

Sugar Shack Menu

Date: March 20, 2026

Dalia stopped by Ben & Florentine after hearing about their new menu collaboration with Nutterie, a pairing that immediately caught her attention since maple and pecans are such a natural match. She started with a more savoury option, though each dish still carried a subtle sweet touch, but the banana, pecan and bacon pancakes topped with maple whipped cream were undeniably the highlight of the experience. The service throughout her visit was attentive and friendly, thanks to Denis, her server, adding to the overall welcoming atmosphere. Dalia always appreciates how Ben & Florentine continues to reinvent the breakfast experience through creative collaborations with local suppliers. She's already looking forward to seeing what they come up with next.

Brunch Menu

The term "hidden gem" might be overused, but La Base Café Buvette in Verdun truly lives up to it. Chandni and Dalia immediately fell for its warm, inviting atmosphere. The owner, Nicholas, is exceptionally welcoming and takes the time to sit with guests and connect with them, something that clearly comes from a genuine passion for hospitality. The afternoon unfolded slowly as they chatted with locals while enjoying a relaxed brunch.

Chandni started with a London Fog that she enjoyed so much she ordered a second one. As for the food, the presentation stood out just as much as the flavours, with the New York sandwich and Japanese soufflé pancakes being the highlights of their visit. Whether you stop by for a morning coffee or return in the evening when the space transforms into a buvette, it's the kind of place that invites you to slow down. A space where time naturally stretches, and where staying a little longer feels almost inevitable.

Brunch Menu

Date: March 22, 2026

Located in the heart of downtown, Benjamin is a Parisian-style restaurant and one of the newest additions from Gray Collection. Having visited back in January, Dalia remembered how much she enjoyed the cuisine, but especially the elegant, chic French atmosphere. For Chandni, it was her first time discovering it, and she was immediately struck by its refined elegance. Seated by the window, they had a front-row view of the St. Patrick's Parade while staying warm and cozy inside, a perfect contrast to the snowy weather outside.

They began with beautifully presented cocktails, including the Madelaine d'Hiver, served with a mini madeleine. Chandni couldn't resist the French onion soup, rich, cheesy, and easily one of the best she's had in the city. For mains, they chose the Rossini eggs Benedict topped with aged ribeye, foie gras, and truffle hollandaise, an indulgent take that elevated the classic dish, along with a lobster sandwich served with crispy fries. To finish, they couldn't skip the famous crêpe Suzette, flambéed tableside and a true showstopper moment. The service was outstanding throughout, with a warm and attentive server who enhanced the experience. From the elegant setting to the tableside flambé and refined dishes, every detail comes together to create a Parisian dining experience in the heart of downtown.

Dalia rediscovered, while Chandni discovered for the first time, Gaspar in the Old Port, and contrary to what one might expect, this is far from a tourist trap. Located right on the main street facing the Old Port, it's truly a spot worth discovering. This French bistro welcomes guests with brick walls and dim lighting that create a warm, intimate, and elegant atmosphere. The menu highlights classic French cuisine, which they thoroughly enjoyed, from escargots served in bone marrow to a very tender duck confit, ending on a sweet note with a Paris-Brest. A beautiful address for anyone looking to enjoy an authentic French bistro experience in the heart of Old Montreal.
