What did the RestoMontréal team discover in June 2026?

June officially marked the arrival of summer in Montréal, bringing longer days, warmer evenings, and the return of the city's favourite seasonal rituals: terraces, patios, and refreshing drinks enjoyed under the sun. From hidden garden terraces and rooftop escapes to new cafés, summer menus, and festive culinary events, the city was buzzing with new flavours and experiences to discover.

This month was all about embracing the season, whether it was enjoying an Italian aperitivo in a Westmount garden, discovering Mediterranean-inspired dishes on a rooftop terrace, cooling down with creative summer drinks, or finding new neighbourhood gems across Montréal and beyond. Each visit offered a different perspective on the city's vibrant and ever-evolving food scene.

As always, our outings are a team effort. Chandni captures each experience through storytelling and visuals across our platforms, while Dalia highlights the hospitality, service, and moments that bring each place to life. Together, they showcase not only the food, but also the atmosphere and people behind every concept.

Opening night

Date: June 03, 2026

Gray Collection's latest addition, Freddi, is a chic and cosy intimate Japanese-inspired bar tucked inside the lobby of the William Gray Hotel in Old Montreal. Going in, Dalia and Chandni's expectations were fairly modest. After all, hotel restaurants are often good, but rarely memorable. Freddi proved them completely wrong. From the drinks and appetizers, to the main course, like the wagyu striploin, cooked beautifully, and the miso-maple glazed black cod, to the desserts, like the strawberry and mascarpone sando, were a true delight. With its intimate atmosphere, chic design, and outstanding cocktails, Freddi is the perfect spot for a date night or an evening drink paired with a few shareable plates.

Launch of the summer terrace

Date: June 08, 2026

What better way to enjoy summer than with lunch at Belvu's rooftop terrace, perched atop the iconic Marriott Château Champlain? With its refreshed Mediterranean-inspired décor and Casamigos partnership, the space sets the stage for a seasonal menu and cocktail experience. Dalia and Chandni started with margaritas, fresh oysters, and tuna carpaccio before enjoying Mediterranean-inspired favourites like grilled octopus and lamb paired with a crisp glass of Sancerre. To finish, the Château's Tropézienne for two stole the show, with Tahitian vanilla cream, lemon, strawberry purée, and soft brioche making it the perfect ending to a leisurely Monday lunch.

New cafe

Date: June 09, 2026

Dalia recently visited Grace Café, a new neighbourhood spot in Laval from the owners behind Le 30 Février and Tordu. Located on Curé-Labelle near Samson, the charming café brings the same beloved drinks from their Plateau locations with a local touch. Having already fallen in love with their pistachio latte, Dalia had to try the iced version, which turned out to be the perfect summer drink: smooth, balanced, and not too sweet. The spicy beef tagine-style sandwich was another standout, while the Dubai croffle was so good she couldn't leave without taking one home for later. With its feminine aesthetic, cozy atmosphere, and creative menu, Grace Café is quickly becoming a new favourite neighbourhood café.

A&W

Launch of SmashBurger

Date: June 09, 2026

Chandni has been a longtime A&W fan, so she was excited to try their new smash burger, now available nationwide. Available with one or two patties, she opted for the double and loved the combination of melted cheese, pickles, and onions. Paired with a crisp soda, it was the perfect way to satisfy a fast-food craving without the price tag of a restaurant smash burger. A&W's latest addition proves you don't have to go far to enjoy a delicious, affordable version of this popular burger trend.

Contest with Corner Collection

Date: June 11, 2026

Hidden inside Hôtel Nelligan in Old Montréal, Lovebird is the kind of intimate speakeasy that instantly leaves an impression. Dalia and Chandni loved the cozy yet elegant atmosphere, enhanced by live music, creative cocktails, and a menu of elevated bites. The mini Wagyu sliders, lobster roll, and sweet potato churros with ginger caramel were all highlights, but what truly stood out was the exceptional service. Their waitress took the time to understand their tastes and recommended cocktails perfectly suited to their preferences. So much so that Dalia enjoyed the experience enough to book a return visit the very next evening for a girls' night out.

Throughout this elegant summer-themed evening, Caroline enjoyed a selection of delicious cocktail-style bites created by Chef Olivier Perret. Lunch

Date: June 23, 2026

A new Mexican restaurant has arrived in Old Montréal, and Dalia and Chandni were excited to discover a little taste of Mexico without leaving the city. From the charming décor to the warm atmosphere, everything set the tone for a memorable lunch. The menu delivered with fresh, flavourful, and generously portioned dishes, with highlights including the Tuna Tostada topped with creamy guacamole and marinated tuna, the refreshing Mango Ceviche, and the flavour-packed Rib Eye and Shrimp Tacos. Even the Birria Poutine was a surprising fusion of Mexican and Québec comfort food. To end on a sweet note, the Pistachio Tres Leches was the perfect balance of light and indulgent. With authentic flavours and generous portions, this new Old Montréal spot is definitely one to add to your list.

New Summer menu

Date: June 29, 2026

Chandni has lost count of how many times she's visited Sammi Soupe Dumpling, but every visit leaves her satisfied. While she usually associates the restaurant with colder seasons, she couldn't resist trying their new summer specialties. At the Dix30 location, she started with their exclusive summer cocktails, paired with shrimp patties and a refreshing cucumber salad. For her main course, she stepped outside her usual order and tried the beef teriyaki and Tom Yum dumplings, which pleasantly surprised her with their bold flavours. The highlight, however, was the new summer lineup, including the Peach Oolong Iced Tea, Coffee Jelly Latte, Osmanthus Vanilla Ice Cream, and Golden Peach Garden, a refreshing combination of jelly, mango, and ice cream that quickly became her favourite. Available depending on the location, these seasonal creations are worth discovering. Which one will you try?

Patio Apertivo

Date: June 30, 2026

June ended with the launch of Patio Aperitivo at Le Spuntino, a hidden garden terrace in the heart of Westmount that perfectly captures the spirit of summer. Guests were invited to enjoy an authentic Italian aperitivo experience with Northern Italian wines, a Spritz Bar featuring classics like Aperol, St-Germain, Limoncello, and Campari Spritz, and a selection of Italian bites including arancini, pizza, tomato and bocconcini salad, and crispy calamari. The evening was made even more special with live DJ sets and a jazz quartet creating the perfect garden ambiance. Dalia and Chandni couldn't wait to try the Donato Gelato cart, and the caffè and ricotta with cinnamon gelato was the sweet highlight they had been hoping for.

Tucked away in the Plateau, Coco Disco Club charms guests with its quaint, convivial atmosphere and welcoming open-kitchen concept. The playful menu puts creative twists on childhood favourites, from Sweetbread Nuggets and caviar-topped Pringles to the Hamachi Crudo, beautifully paired with fresh Québec strawberries. Chandni especially loved the strawberry Kiri-Kiri cocktail, while the buzzing dining room and terrace on a Tuesday night proved this neighbourhood gem has already built a loyal following ahead of its first anniversary. To end the evening, the reimagined Banana Split with chocolate-dipped banana bread and a maple leaf cookie was the perfect sweet finale.
