Very nice upscale Italian restaurant. We had reservations for a group of 9.
Great service. Complimentary bread with oil/balsamic & oil/pesto to start.
We split a pizza. It was delicious. High quality ingredients. The infused chili oil was delicious but be careful...it's sneaky spicy.
Overall great experience.
This place did not disappoint. It's super popular & the food was good. Side note, if you want bread ask for it, they don't offer it. But, it's worth the ask!
We visited Montreal for a week in early November & ate at Weinstein & Gavino's twice. An easy walk from our hotel (& not far from the Bell Centre), the cool, three-level establishment is casual & welcoming. The service & food were both great. Fresh, warm bread (with oil & balsamic dip) is served before your order arrives & the salads, pastas, & pizza we ordered all tasted delicious. Casual local atmosphere, very good food & reasonable prices. 5 stars for us!!
Had an amazing experience here as always! I ordered the fettuccine Alfredo with grilled chicken, & it was absolutely perfect. The pasta was creamy & delicious, & the chicken was cooked just right overall a solid 10/10.
We also ordered the bruschetta, which was fresh & full of flavor. The bread was crispy & baked to perfection.
The atmosphere is always beautiful as well. The vintage look of the restaurant really stands out & creates a warm, inviting vibe. Highly recommend!
I ordered the Pollo alla gavino & when it said 1/2 grilled chicken I expected half a chicken breast, not half a whole chicken. The size of the portion was huge & for 20 dollars it felt like a steal.
Meat was falling off the bone & everything tasted amazing. It came with a free appetizer (either a salad or a portion of cream of mushrooms soup) & fluffy toasted bread.
The staff was very polite & service was fast, especially with how busy they were.
The terrace has a great atmosphere & is very pretty, but beware as there are tons of wasps, I would highly suggest eating inside.
Overall awesome experience
The atmosphere was great, & the service was good. However, the food was mediocre. The flavours were blended, & the food got cold quickly, making it not worth the price. The initial serving of bread, olive oil, & balsamic was a nice touch.
A tad overrated. Their garlic bread is phenomenal though. Pasta is pasta. Only had amazing fresh pasta from ym friends Nonnas in their house but it is a step above Pasta Bar....will return one day..
I visited Wienstein & Gavino's for my birthday & had a very enjoyable experience. The menu offers a wide range of choices including entrees, salads, mains, pasta, & pizzas, so there's something for everyone.
One of the nice touches was the unlimited bread served with olive oil, it was fresh & a great way to start the meal. I also appreciated the customizable pasta options, where you can choose from different types of pasta & sauces. It's great that they also offer gluten-free alternatives.
The atmosphere was lively but comfortable, & the service was friendly & efficient. Overall, a solid choice for Italian food in the city & a place I'd be happy to return to.
Kind of a dark vibe, drinks were nice, do ask for the bread. The food was alright, we got the wild mushroom pizza & it was just fineee.
They give free unlimited bread with free unlimited olive oil/vinegar dip before you even order. A sizeable pizza & a generous plate of pasta came to 50$.
Pasta was delicious, enough for 2 people honestly. Pizza was also very good but a little heavy. Pasta is definitely their specialty.
Ordered Rose pasta & they put grated cheese on top for you. Delicious.
Place was a little loud with music as they have a bar downstairs, but the lighting is very romantic & the servers are extremely attentionate & well-dressed.
Overall definitely recommended, pretty cheap for a restaurant of this caliber.
This is my go to place every time I m confused where to go , any friend coming over from outside Montreal or Canada , I take them here . The place is huge & I always get place without waiting . Being vegetarian , their pastas & pizzas are amazing & in dessert - tiramisu is must have . Their warm bread for starter is so fresh !
Every one in our party had a great meal. Service was fast & friendly. Our wait for our food was just right. My pasta carbona was excellent. The warm crusty bread was a great way to start. We will be back.
Wonderful place, visit with my wife once a month the pasta pizza & bread are delicious
Two stars is generous. When first walking in, the restaurant seems well decorated & high-end. & the service was pretty good, pretty basic & the restaurant is busy. Everything is pretty okay EXCEPT for the food… The food was absolutely outrageous for the price. We had ordered two pastas, a pizza & Breaded chicken parm. The food was bland, chewy & overall honestly awful. Our entire table was quiet as we sat there eating this food, almost forcing it down our throats so we wouldn't waste. I would've rated the food a one, but I the drinks made up for it. Anyways, please save your money & go to another restaurant in MTL.
Great location & beautiful ambiance. Ossobucco was phenomenal. Good food all around. Fell short a bit serving cold bread & otherwise great food in COLD plates.. what's that about
Brandon offered exceptional service from start to finish. The five star review is mainly because of his outstanding service-otherwise I would have given four stars. As someone who used to come to this restaurant regularly years ago, I was shocked by the change in portion sizes & quality reduction. The pizzas used to be bigger & tastier. The calamari, which used to come in two sizes, now only comes in one size, & is labelled as an appetizer. It is, in fact, a full meal, & I'm pleased to say it was delicious. The bread that is served before the meal has also been cut in size-by 70%. Come on, W&G...! Brandon accommodated us with extra portions & excellent service. Give this guy a raise!
Would rate a 4.5. Food was delicious &, for the most part, service was super quick. We all had pasta, got free bread for the table & split a salad across 4 of us as an appetizer. Only downside, like 3 flights of stairs at the restaurant. My friend had a cane & they sat us at the top floor of the restaurant - we didn't say anything but not the easiest to get up to. Otherwise, it was a great meal.
Came upon this place while walking around the area. Homemade pasta that provides you with an authentic Italian meal,... reminiscent of what Nona makes. The ingredients were fresh & the Caprese salad showcased this. The service was wonderful, as the waitress was very attentive. The only issue & this is very minor, is that the bread provided is not warm. I think this would taste better with the oil & balsamic provided.
Lots of menu options & free fresh bread & oil/vinegar for the table! The Margherita pizzas were great - perfect personal size to leave you satiated but not overstuff you. The pastas were delicious as well & they have gluten free options too which is always a plus. The atmosphere inside was very nice too, although it was a busy so it was hard to really get to know our server - all good though!
Overall great experience at W&G, decor is nice with bricks all around. Food was good & served rapidly. Nothing to say here it was tasty & for those with pasta etc the grater & pepper were offered to taste. There is also some bread to accompany everything. As for the atmosphere while I do like the offering, there is a lot of seats which will result in a quite noisy environment, you don't have to scream but you need to take attention. Overall good place to go for a social gathering around an Italian meal
