The creation of young, up and coming Montreal restaurateurs, Wienstein & Gavino’s debuted in Montreal in 1996. W&G is a large Mediterranean restaurant spanning two floors and complimented by two terraces in the summer months. A large bar is the focal point of the first floor while the open kitchen complete with brick pizza oven is the main attraction upstairs. W&G is best known for its fresh, homemade pasta and traditional sauces and thin crust pizza. There is also a good selection of steaks, veal, and seafood. W&G serves lunch and dinner every day with a weekly table d’hôte available daily at $12-$16 for lunch and starting at $23 for dinner. In addition, a selection of pizza and pasta is available for 10$ from 11a.m. until 3p.m. for the lunch crowd and after 10pm every day for late night diners looking for a meal after the game, a concert downtown or before hitting the dance floor. W&G can also accommodate groups and can plan your party for you whether you’ve invited 10 people or 300 people! From Monday to Friday there is a “happy hour” at the W&G bar where guests can enjoy 2 for 1 from 4pm until 8pm. After cocktails at the bar, you can choose from one of the largest wine cellars in the city, stocked with reasonably priced wines, private imports, or premium fine wines. The focus is always fun at W&G with a DJ keeping things lively on the weekend and special events year-round. There is always something interesting going on at W&G!
Overall, Weinstein Gavino's is praised for high-quality Italian fare, generous portions, and fresh pasta, with favorites like calamari, burrata bruschetta, arancini, seafood pasta, osso buco, and pizzas, all served in a lively downtown atmosphere with a warm bread and olive oil starter. Service is frequently described as friendly and attentive, and the bar and wine selections are well received, though several reviews mention crowds, noise, and occasional slow pacing during busy periods or small inconsistencies in timing and temperature.
We visited Montreal for a week in early November & ate at Weinstein & Gavino's twice. An easy walk from our hotel (& not far from the Bell Centre), the cool, three-level establishment is casual & welcoming. The service & food were both great. Fresh, warm bread (with oil & balsamic dip) is served before your order arrives & the salads, pastas, & pizza we ordered all tasted delicious. Casual local atmosphere, very good food & reasonable prices. 5 stars for us!!
This place shouldn't get a 4.3 in my opinion as the food was phenomenal with its fresh ingredients & generous portions. The server was lovely & the restaurant had a great ambiance. Will be back :)

Had an amazing experience here as always! I ordered the fettuccine Alfredo with grilled chicken, & it was absolutely perfect. The pasta was creamy & delicious, & the chicken was cooked just right overall a solid 10/10.
We also ordered the bruschetta, which was fresh & full of flavor. The bread was crispy & baked to perfection.
The atmosphere is always beautiful as well. The vintage look of the restaurant really stands out & creates a warm, inviting vibe. Highly recommend!
Wienstein & Gavino's was a great spot! I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food. The service was a bit slow as it took a long time to get our drinks & put our order in, but the atmosphere made it worth it. Everything was really fresh! If you're looking for parking, there's a garage right next door (it's cash only).
I can't say one bad thing about this place! A group of us were visiting Montréal for a little vacation & naturally we had been dining & a bunch of restaurants but I have to say our experience at W&G's absolutely stood out.
Customer Service 🌟🌟🌟 10/5 - Literally have no words. A personal thank you to Florence & Jade for making our last dinner in Montréal the best
one. We were one of their last tables for the night & even toward the ends of their shifts, they both brought the energy, were incredibly sweet, & super accommodating. It was one of our friends' birthdays & Florence was awesome at keeping it on the low 🤣 They suggested birthday BJ shots which were so fun - & absolutely hilarious to do. Kudos to
these two girls because they are SO good at what they do.
The food was DELICIOUS. My boyfriend & I shared the arancini, burrata ni bruschetta, the funghi pasta entrée that had wild mushrooms (& we chose farfalle), & of course the tiramisu as our dessert.
Arancini ⭐? 4.5/5 - Didn't blow my mind but it was a great appetizer! Arancini is my boyfriend's fave. I enjoyed it too! It came out warm & crunchy on the outside, creamy perfectly cooked risotto on the inside. Served on red sauce with fresh parm & basil. I do wish it came out hotter though! But admittedly we were a group of 8 people so they might have needed some time to put out all the apps - which is understandable. :)
Burrata ni bruschetta 🌟5/5 - Now this appetizer blew our minds.. Seems so simple but the cooks achieved THE PERFECT composition of texture & flavour with this app. Creamy burrata served on toasted crostini topped with drizzles of honey & balsamic, crushed pistachios & fresh basil. It was TO DIE FOR. We could've EASILY finished one plate each. 😅 I'm not vegetarian but highly recommend to those who are. Such an amazing veg option & it won't fill you up too much before the entrée.
Funghi di bosco w/ farfalle 🌟 5/5 - Another simple though perfectly executed dish. I am VERY particular with my pasta & the cooks most definitely killed it with this one. At W&G's, you have the option to select one of their recipes & pick the type of fresh pasta you want it to be prepared with. The plate came out piping hot - which I loveeee. The fresh pasta is certainly fresh, cooked perfectly al dente. Plenty of mushroom & the cream sauce wasn't heavy at all.
Tiramisu ⭐? 3.5/5 - The tiramisu was tasty. It was definitely soggier than what I'm accustomed to/what I prefer?? I usually like a fluffier, creamier tiramisu. I did like that they weren't heavy-handed with the alcohol! & it had a moderate-strength coffee flavour (I do prefer stronger though but totally personal preference). & it
wasn't overly sweet at all. It was a nice portion to share between my partner & I. A pleasant way to end the dinner since we were already so full! However, I'd probably go for a different dessert next time.
Montréal Mule 🌟 5/5 - Who doesn't love a good mule?! This was so nice & refreshing to have alongside all the food.
This place is incredible. Jade served us & was spectacular. She was very attentive, made great recommendations & super personable. The pasta was made fresh & the portions are HUGE. We sat on the patio & the atmosphere was great. 100% recommend.
A tad overrated. Their garlic bread is phenomenal though. Pasta is pasta. Only had amazing fresh pasta from ym friends Nonnas in their house but it is a step above Pasta Bar....will return one day..

I visited Wienstein & Gavino's for my birthday & had a very enjoyable experience. The menu offers a wide range of choices including entrees, salads, mains, pasta, & pizzas, so there's something for everyone.
One of the nice touches was the unlimited bread served with olive oil, it was fresh & a great way to start the meal. I also appreciated the customizable pasta options, where you can choose from different types of pasta & sauces. It's great that they also offer gluten-free alternatives.
The atmosphere was lively but comfortable, & the service was friendly & efficient. Overall, a solid choice for Italian food in the city & a place I'd be happy to return to.
This is my go to place every time I m confused where to go , any friend coming over from outside Montreal or Canada , I take them here . The place is huge & I always get place without waiting . Being vegetarian , their pastas & pizzas are amazing & in dessert - tiramisu is must have . Their warm bread for starter is so fresh !
We recently visited, & were very disappointed compared to our previous experience. The quality of food has dropped significantly. The dishes lacked flavor & freshness, which was surprising given how much we enjoyed them during our last visit. Additionally, we faced a serious safety issue. A water glass at our table had a sharp edge, which caused a small injury to my 13-year-old daughter. This was deeply upsetting & completely unacceptable for any dining establishment. We expected much better based on our past visit, but unfortunately, this experience left us dissatisfied & concerned. I hope the management takes steps to address these issues promptly to ensure better service & safety for future patrons. Thanks.
A Cozy Post-Christmas Italian Treat We visited this charming Italian restaurant the day after Christmas & were blown away by the festive decor twinkling lights & a snowman gave it a magical vibe. The warm welcome & cozy ambiance were just perfect. Our server, Alley, made the experience even better with her helpful recommendations & cheerful attitude. We started with drinks: the Quebec Sour & Montreal Mule, both a 10/10. For appetizers, the bruschetta & caprese were fresh & flavorful. The mains, Risotto Fungi di Bosco & Pollo Alla Sofia, were perfectly cooked & delicious. Finally, the tiramisu was light & heavenly. Amazing food, fantastic service, & festive vibes highly recommend this spot!

My family & I like to choose a restaurant to have a group dinner to close out vacations on a positive note. Since my friend was with us they had us choose one, & we liked the menu of this restaurant in particular, making a reservation for 4 on the Friday before our flight day. It was the best decision. Everything from the drinks, to the food, to the desserts, was absolutely delicious. Hot, fresh, & incredibly well portioned. Allergens were taken into consideration if needed, & we all absolutely cleared our plates. desserts were completely to die for, every single one of them. We would (& will) 100% come back again.
We are visiting from NYC & wanted some good Italian. Was excited when we found this place with homemade pasta. Pros - great service . Mussels were good Cons - 1. Homemade pasta texture was not at all what we are used to in nyc or Italy. Pasta was not elastic , it was like eating pasta made from chick peas or something, very grainy. We had linguini with pesto & the pesto was tasteless. Usually we find places too salty, first time I complain it was not salty or any taste at all. 2. We had Margherita pizza & it was basically a cheese pizza, not fresh mozzarella on it. It was soggy & could had used more taste also. Won't recommend this restaurant at all.
We had a fabulous experience. It was a warm evening & we sat outside. Our waiter Samy was perfect. The fresh pasta was some of the best I've ever had. The desserts were fantastic. My wife loves tiramisu & she said this was the best. I had the Nutella cheesecake & it was much better than I had thought it was going to be. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough. Great for a date night, for visitors on their final night in the city, or a random Thursday night.
Came upon this place while walking around the area. Homemade pasta that provides you with an authentic Italian meal,... reminiscent of what Nona makes. The ingredients were fresh & the Caprese salad showcased this. The service was wonderful, as the waitress was very attentive. The only issue & this is very minor, is that the bread provided is not warm. I think this would taste better with the oil & balsamic provided.
Lots of menu options & free fresh bread & oil/vinegar for the table! The Margherita pizzas were great - perfect personal size to leave you satiated but not overstuff you. The pastas were delicious as well & they have gluten free options too which is always a plus. The atmosphere inside was very nice too, although it was a busy so it was hard to really get to know our server - all good though!
I went on a Saturday night around 9pm, the service was very quick to get a table with no reservation & there was a lot of people. The waiter was very nice & attentive. The food was excellent & fresh. I got the Salsiccia e Gamberi with an amaretto sour & my friend got the Carbonara. I have to say it is the best amaretto sour I've ever had. It was a bit loud in the restaurant for my taste but it is to be expected on a Saturday night. Over all a very pleasant experience & I will be coming back!
