About us
UMAMI RAMEN & IZAKAYA is the very first fully vegan ramen restaurant in Montreal.
Thanks to the import of a Japanese machine for making noodles, the establishment makes its own homemade noodles from organic wheat, in addition to making its broths, Tsukemono, kombucha and sprouts! The restaurant offers several varieties of ramen and small classics of Japanese Bistronomy in a vegan version. Whether we think of okonomiyaki, gyozas, Agedashi tofu or even tempeh Tonkatsu, Cédric and his team are happy to present to you every day, from starter to dessert, these revisited Japanese classics... just a few exclusives straight out of our kitchens. And who says Izayaka, of course, says refreshing beers, sumptuous wines, intoxicating cocktails, delicate sakes and other fine wine products. At Umami Ramen, we experience cruelty-free gastronomy at its best!

Super expérience dans ce restaurant. Que ce soit les serveurs, le service & la qualité du plat ! ce n'est pas la première fois que je viens & j'ai la même expérience client à chaque passage. Vous devez absolument tester le beignet maison avec leur crème glacée vegan, cela vaut le détour !!

The service is very friendly & the servers explain dishes well & are very charismatic. That being said the food was a disappointment. We had the tasting menu & a few of our first courses were noteworthy & set a higher expectation that the mains didn't deliver on. The main courses were underwhelming & we didn't feel like they reflected the price range in terms of quality. We would love to come back & try the ramen as we did still did baseline enjoy our experience & think we may have just been there on an off night, or something of the sort.

Service & ambiance très bien malheureusement le ramen végétarien ne remplace pas l'original, loin de la & certains des autres plats (notamment entrées) nous ont déçu aussi.

I loved what I ordered, Shoyu'Tokyo Style' ramen is really amazing!!! Could use a little bit more broth but overall really really yummy & great portion, very full after! The starters, karraage, gyoza & tofu agedashi, so good!!!!! The tofu agedashi was my favorite & korrokke my least favorite. It's a great place to order many starters to share with your friends & family!!! Even my non-vegan friends & fam loved the restaurant! The mocktails in my opinion aren't that great, but maybe they're also just not to my taste. Ambiance is amazing! Super cute & cozy! Love it!
Little side note, the wooden chairs aren't very plus-size friendly or disabled friendly, seriously was in pain the whole time I was there, my butt all squished by the chair hahaha & i'm a size 12-14 which is a pretty usual size. :/ & most of the restaurant has this as seating.
But overall, the restaurant is great. Especially the food that makes it all worth it!

Très belle expérience culinaire en plus d'un service impeccable. Ils ont su nous accomoder malgré la maladie inflammatoire de ma belle-mère (qui peux difficilement manger du gluten sans être ceoliaque). Ils avaient une très bonne connaissance des ingrédients de chaque plats ainsi que les probabilités d'y retrouver l'allergène & le degré d'intensité de sa présence. Nous avons adoré notre soirée & nous y retournerons sans hésitation. Merci !

Calm atmosphere, great staff, & DELICIOUS food & cocktails. Their ramen bowls are packed with flavour. The gyoza were amazing too. For drinks we got a highball & a drink that had beet in it, & they were really good. They had a very nice presentation, & very good flavours. Definitely recommend & would like to come here again.
