About us
UMAMI RAMEN & IZAKAYA is the very first fully vegan ramen restaurant in Montreal.
Thanks to the import of a Japanese machine for making noodles, the establishment makes its own homemade noodles from organic wheat, in addition to making its broths, Tsukemono, kombucha and sprouts! The restaurant offers several varieties of ramen and small classics of Japanese Bistronomy in a vegan version. Whether we think of okonomiyaki, gyozas, Agedashi tofu or even tempeh Tonkatsu, Cédric and his team are happy to present to you every day, from starter to dessert, these revisited Japanese classics... just a few exclusives straight out of our kitchens. And who says Izayaka, of course, says refreshing beers, sumptuous wines, intoxicating cocktails, delicate sakes and other fine wine products. At Umami Ramen, we experience cruelty-free gastronomy at its best!

Went here for brunch & got the noodle dish & fluffy pancake. Everything looked great & service was good, however the food was just ok. It felt like mass cooked food & the taste was one note & greasy/heavy. I wish the flavours were more refined & danced on my palette. Also it is very noisy when busy, hard to hear your company without shouting. & pretty expensive, average price of a dish is $24+ & drinks (latte etc) are $6+

J'ai adoré mon expérience, la terrasse extérieure est super bien & une belle option pour profiter de la belle température & d'avoir un excellent menu en plus de l'intérieur super décontracté & beau.
La nourriture est délicieuse, le menu est varié & y'a plusieurs options pour les végétariens si jamais vous avez besoin. La carte des drinks est intéressante & les cocktails sont orignaux.
Niveau prix pour deux personnes c'est assez dans les standards si vous prenez des drinks, entrée & repas.

Très bons plats mais manque un peu de sel. Les drinks sont super mais un peu chers. Service amical. Très bruyant. Petit restaurant, à l'intérieur du moins. Réservez d'avance. Les bancs au bar sont inconfortables. Mais en général, c'est très bien.

Calm atmosphere, great staff, & DELICIOUS food & cocktails. Their ramen bowls are packed with flavour. The gyoza were amazing too. For drinks we got a highball & a drink that had beet in it, & they were really good. They had a very nice presentation, & very good flavours. Definitely recommend & would like to come here again.

Service agréable & chaleureux, mais un peu lent.
Ambiance, bien, mais au assise au bar avec mon amie - côte à côte - c'était difficile de s'entendre parler.
Prix : abordables, à l'exception des cocktails
Difficile de se stationner autour avec l'opération déneigement - ce n'est pas de leur faute - mais je suggère les transports en commun.

Très beau restaurant à l'ambiance cozy avec un service de qualité. La nourriture était très bonne & les drinks aussi, quoique ces derniers sont assez cher pour la grosseur. Dommage qu'il n'y ait pas de vin au verre.

The tempura was good but the miso ramen & kimchi ramen were so bad & salty. I really don't recommend it. First bite, I cringed from how salty it was & thick. The drinks were good otherwise I don't recommend coming here to eat FOOD.

beautiful & calm interior - really nice space to spend some time tho the food was just okay. good tempura, not so balanced eggplant, good okonomiyaki, not very umami kimchi ramen with too dense tofu. the jade drink was nice but could had a bit more of spice for my taste! :) the service was really nice & supporting the lovely environment. thank you!

Had an excellent dinner experience with friends. I love being able to order plates as the evening goes on. From the drinks to sake to the food, everything was delicious. Great service too.

I got a reservation without knowing it was Montréal à table. So my friend & I got the tasting menu & shared everything. It was mostly hit of miss. First service very fresh. Second service the roll was an explosion of flavors but the side dish with the rice was blander than my breakfast oatmeal. We loved the silky tofu for 3rd service. The highlight was the shitake "steak", so good. The okonomiyaki like many others said before me had good flavor & crunch but it was too salty, can you guys take note of that ? Every single review about the okonomiyaki says that it's too salty. Maybe change something so that the customer change their ratings. Dessert was okay. Drinks were okay, my friend's drink barely tasted anything but I liked mine (goro majima). Presentation of the plates is really beautiful. So I really wanted to try their ramen but I don't think it's worth it to go back for that.

Even with reservation service was very slow. Food & drinks were delicious but we waited 20mins to order our first drink & it was brought after the appetizer. Friendly staff but very slow inattentive service

Exceptional service & food , every was fantastic from the drinks, entrees to the ramen. Everything is vegan with no cross contamination! Btw I have a new love for potato salad (sorry no picture)Thank you again for making the birthday girl special & not making us wait long for the table. I just wish your open for lunch 😀I would be there everyday

Lovely vegan restaurant with all of our japanese favorites.
The food was either a miss or hit. The okonomiyaki was too salty & creamy kimchi soup was bland.
We loved the dumplings, edamame & the shoyu soup.
The drinks were also delightful.

The quality of the food is high but I found it too salty for my taste. I drank the entire bottle of water & was thirsty through the evening when I returned home. The service was cordial but when it got busy I could see them forgetting a couple of things. That happens & that doesn't take away the experience as the service workers were kind & apologetic. This is my second time here. The first time was last year in the fall. I ordered different dishes the second time & still found it salty like the first time. I had the gyoza the first time didn't order them again as I found them bland. The tonkatsu was not bad but the sauce was (again)very salty. I preferred having them with just the lemon. The wafu salad was boring with only the greens with a little tempura pearls that does not justify that price range. Some other veggies could have made it more interesting & maybe worth the price point. The tan tan ramen dish I ordered was very salty including the tofu. Last year it was a curry ramen same thing very salty. If I had to choose between the two the tan tan was better. I didn't finish the broth due to the saltiness although I found the spice level perfect nonetheless. Dessert was good the yuzu ice "cream" was very refreshing & did clear the palate of the saltiness out of my mouth. I would like to come back & try different dishes from the last two times to compare. I didn't order any cocktails as I don't drink alcohol & just stuck with the water. The last time I ordered a non alcoholic version & was charged the same. Every other place reduced the price point as there was no alcohol or made it larger & added more juice. So this was why I stuck with the water.

What a lovely accident that we found this place while looking for vegan restos open on Monday. We ordered the tasting menu & my only complaint was how full I got! The food was amazing, the drinks were fantastic & the service was lovely. A wonderful date night for our last night in Montreal! The matcha ice cream was so good!!!!!

Delicious food & friendly servers. But the appetizers arrived before the cocktails (which had been ordered first) so there was no time to enjoy the drinks & conversation before the food. It felt rushed. Would definitely return but wait for the cocktails before ordering food!
