About us

UMAMI RAMEN & IZAKAYA is the very first fully vegan ramen restaurant in Montreal.

Thanks to the import of a Japanese machine for making noodles, the establishment makes its own homemade noodles from organic wheat, in addition to making its broths, Tsukemono, kombucha and sprouts! The restaurant offers several varieties of ramen and small classics of Japanese Bistronomy in a vegan version. Whether we think of okonomiyaki, gyozas, Agedashi tofu or even tempeh Tonkatsu, Cédric and his team are happy to present to you every day, from starter to dessert, these revisited Japanese classics... just a few exclusives straight out of our kitchens. And who says Izayaka, of course, says refreshing beers, sumptuous wines, intoxicating cocktails, delicate sakes and other fine wine products. At Umami Ramen, we experience cruelty-free gastronomy at its best!

Food & service are great, but they've switched to online only menus for the main menu, which really ruins the atmosphere & cheapens the experience. It feels like a cost-cutting measure that a fast casual restaurant would put in place, which doesn't align with the food & drink prices or presentation. When we asked for a paper food menu they gave us an ipad with a website pulled up. It honestly felt like eating at an overpriced airport restaurant.

Les cocktails sont équilibré & osé.
Un bémol, Le beigne était décevant, sec à l'intérieur, comme si il n'était pas du jour, nous en avions commandé deux, seulement un seul était sec

I'm still blown away by how incredible every single dish was!! The karaage, gyozas, shishito peppers all had the perfect texture & sauces for them. We each tried different ramen dishes & they're among the best I ever tasted, honestly even better than some I had in Japan! I still think about the cold sesame one. The terrace added to the atmosphere as we waited with our top-notch cocktails, & oh, you have to get the fresh donuts, also among the best I've had!! 🥹

Delicious! We didn't even realize it was vegan until halfway through our meal. They had a vegan egg yolk that was very impressive! Will definitely come back, & would recommend!
