UMAMI RAMEN & IZAKAYA is the very first fully vegan ramen restaurant in Montreal.
Thanks to the import of a Japanese machine for making noodles, the establishment makes its own homemade noodles from organic wheat, in addition to making its broths, Tsukemono, kombucha and sprouts! The restaurant offers several varieties of ramen and small classics of Japanese Bistronomy in a vegan version. Whether we think of okonomiyaki, gyozas, Agedashi tofu or even tempeh Tonkatsu, Cédric and his team are happy to present to you every day, from starter to dessert, these revisited Japanese classics... just a few exclusives straight out of our kitchens. And who says Izayaka, of course, says refreshing beers, sumptuous wines, intoxicating cocktails, delicate sakes and other fine wine products. At Umami Ramen, we experience cruelty-free gastronomy at its best!

My favorite vegan restaurant. Love the creativity & the beauty of the plate. The employees are very kind.
Service was not great. Ordered an appetizer & took about an hour to get asked if i wanted to order something else. Had to wait at least 45 minutes to get the bill which the waitress never brought i had to go to the bar to ask if we could pay so i could finally leave. Waitress checked on other tables never on my friend & i... horrible service especially for a restaurant that was not busy. Food was great but overall experience was not due to the horrible service.
Having lived in Japan, I would never describe this as an "Izakaya" lol. BUT it's a fantastic, trendy restaurant for sure.
Food was a little too spicy & the sauce too sweet & thick for the Mapo tofu ramen. We didn't feel like someone was our server so we didn't know whom to ask for the bill & whom to ask again when it felt like they had forgotten us.
My partner & I came for the tasting menu. I would give it a 3/5. Everything was very average. Although it looked aesthetic, the taste was often boring/bland. The best parts were the crepe + the dessert but everything else was something I wouldn't find worth ordering again (it needed more spice or even salt). My cocktail was also not that great. Service was slow but this typically the experience in montreal vs other large cities. It was my second time coming here. The first time I got the ramen & also wasn't the biggest fan of the type of noodle. After coming twice, I don't think it's on the top of my list to revisit. Although I will still make it out for their new gyoza location, as I would like to give it a try. Of course I recommend you to come yourself. This is my friends favourite vegan restaurant in town, but it hasn't hit the mark for me personally.
Delicieux souper, excellent service, on a toujours hâte a la prochaine fois.
Had an excellent dinner experience with friends. I love being able to order plates as the evening goes on. From the drinks to sake to the food, everything was delicious. Great service too.
