About us
UMAMI RAMEN & IZAKAYA is the very first fully vegan ramen restaurant in Montreal.
Thanks to the import of a Japanese machine for making noodles, the establishment makes its own homemade noodles from organic wheat, in addition to making its broths, Tsukemono, kombucha and sprouts! The restaurant offers several varieties of ramen and small classics of Japanese Bistronomy in a vegan version. Whether we think of okonomiyaki, gyozas, Agedashi tofu or even tempeh Tonkatsu, Cédric and his team are happy to present to you every day, from starter to dessert, these revisited Japanese classics... just a few exclusives straight out of our kitchens. And who says Izayaka, of course, says refreshing beers, sumptuous wines, intoxicating cocktails, delicate sakes and other fine wine products. At Umami Ramen, we experience cruelty-free gastronomy at its best!

Such a lovely experience. Our reservation was right at the opening hour so we got a great spot, & the waitress was so kind & also very quick despite working the entire dining area by herself! The food was amazing, & kept that class & elegance feeling alongside all the vegan dishes. Reservation date: sep 8, 2024 5PM

Lovely izakaya for ramen lovers. We were able to be seated even without reservation, although the venue was quite busy in a Monday evening. Tantanmen ramen is really great, a decent level of spice & a peculiar touch with a vegan "egg". I would like to go back & try the cocktails, we were seated at the bar & watching the bartender prep you could tell that they really care about mixology. Service was a bit slow, but they were very busy & a bit understaffed (just 2 servers for the floor of ~10 tables).

I had the spicy Tantanmen, & felt that it lacked the kick in the flavours for me.. it just didn't do it for me. I had a bite of my colleague's spicy Miso & somehow, my Tantanmen tasted slight better in comparison. Servers were friendly. Dishes would take a little time to arrive (it was not too busy at the time), but the servers weren't to blame.

Belle terrasse intime! Les ramens shoyu étaient bonnes, mais le bouillon était tiède. Le cocktail au matcha avait trop de goûts distincts & puissants à mon goût, une mini gorgée a suffit 🥲. Les serveurs étaient sympas.

Le service, le décor & l'ambiance du restaurant sont biens, mais le temps d'attente pour la nourriture était quand même long (environ 30 mins). Le tantanmen épicé était salé, j'ai même pas pu terminer la moitié du plat : ce qui rejoins la plupart des commentaires. C'est dommage parce que ça me semble être un bon endroit pour les dates, mais il manque à peaufiner les recettes. De plus, le prix n'est pas donné : 40$ pour le tantanmen & un cocktail.

The ramen dishes are incredible! They came up with a "vegan egg" that looked so real I had to double check that it was in fact vegan haha. Really spicy & a lot of complex flavour profiles I enjoyed. Very highly recommend this place.

Cela fait longtemps que je n'y suis pas aller, dû à leur emplacement assez éloignées, mais je conseille vraiment au moins d'y aller une fois, surtout lorsque vous êtes vegan, meilleur ramen que je n'ai jamais mangé! L'ambiance eat génial,les employés vraiment super aussi! Sinon goûter la crème glacé au matcha un régale!

I always enjoy Umami! Such a great vegan ramen spot. Sometimes the service is a bit slow, though, the atmosphere is lovely. The food is delicious!

The restaurant is really beautiful. We tried the curry tempeh & spicy creamy kimchi ramen, as well as the okonomiyaki. Both ramens were tasty but could have been more flavourful. The okonomiyaki was delicious!
