About us
UMAMI RAMEN & IZAKAYA is the very first fully vegan ramen restaurant in Montreal.
Thanks to the import of a Japanese machine for making noodles, the establishment makes its own homemade noodles from organic wheat, in addition to making its broths, Tsukemono, kombucha and sprouts! The restaurant offers several varieties of ramen and small classics of Japanese Bistronomy in a vegan version. Whether we think of okonomiyaki, gyozas, Agedashi tofu or even tempeh Tonkatsu, Cédric and his team are happy to present to you every day, from starter to dessert, these revisited Japanese classics... just a few exclusives straight out of our kitchens. And who says Izayaka, of course, says refreshing beers, sumptuous wines, intoxicating cocktails, delicate sakes and other fine wine products. At Umami Ramen, we experience cruelty-free gastronomy at its best!

Calm atmosphere, great staff, & DELICIOUS food & cocktails. Their ramen bowls are packed with flavour. The gyoza were amazing too. For drinks we got a highball & a drink that had beet in it, & they were really good. They had a very nice presentation, & very good flavours. Definitely recommend & would like to come here again.

Nourriture absolument délicieuse (nous avons pris le menu dégustation), mais nous avions un peu froid car nous étions collés aux fenêtres qui n'étaient pas bien isolées. Nous avons trouvé ça dommage car nous sommes arrivés tôt, quand il n'y avait personne dans le restaurant (& nous avions réservé) & nous avons eu l'impression d'avoir la table la moins confortable & la plus proche des fenêtres froides! Mais sinon, excellent service, excellente nourriture, je recommande!

Les meilleurs ramens à Montréal, tous styles confondus! Leur menu est juste assez varié, les saveurs incroyables (la quantités d'aliments faits sur place est impressionnante). TOUT est délicieux, je recommande fortement!

Je viens de tester Umami lors du festival Ramen Ramen & c'est une très belle découverte ! L'endroit est très beau, bel ambiance cocooning. Le cocktail à la noix de coco trop bon 😋 & le plat de ramen à la truffe, vraiment bon ! 😋 Je recommande à 100% !

The tempura was good but the miso ramen & kimchi ramen were so bad & salty. I really don't recommend it. First bite, I cringed from how salty it was & thick. The drinks were good otherwise I don't recommend coming here to eat FOOD.

J'aimerais mettre 10 étoiles pour le service. Merci encore vous êtes vraiment géniaux !! Je mange jamais vegan, mais j'ai été impressionné surtout par le jaune d'oeuf. Incroyable !! Merci pour le Sake Bomb :P J'ai passé une belle soirée & je tiens à remercié les deux serveurs, c'est grâce à eux ! Je recommande fortement la place, bonne ambiance, le personnel est très accueillant & SYMPA !

The ramen dishes are incredible! They came up with a "vegan egg" that looked so real I had to double check that it was in fact vegan haha. Really spicy & a lot of complex flavour profiles I enjoyed. Very highly recommend this place.

Excellent restaurant de ramen de Montréal (qui mérite sa réputation du meilleur). Les plats sont très travaillés, avec des goûts très fins. Les gyozas sont très bons. L'ambiance est tamisée, le service est très chaleureux (bien qu'un peu long). Il faut impérativement réserver. Je recommande les yeux fermés

Food was okay but service was not too great. We needed to get up from our table to find a server to get what we needed a couple of times which would be fine otherwise. But at the end of the meal we left a 10% tip for a $122 invoice & the server complained about this & followed us outside of the restaurant. In the last 6 months we brought at least $1000 worth of business to this restaurant by bringing our friends/family on different occasions. This was too much. Never going back there & won't recommend.

Excellente entrée de légumes en tempura, friture délicate & croustillante. Les ramens sont également renversants: tantanmen (mon pref) & curry ramen très réussis, savoureux, les toppings généreux & inventifs, les bouillons sont décadents & les nouilles délicieuses. Petit bémol: il n'y avait pas de choix dans la sélection de sakés au verre & leur frigo à keg était brisé pour la bière en fut. On a eu un peu soif, mais la bouffe était très bonne. Je recommande.

The best vegan restaurant in montreal offering savoury dishes & always a great experience. I recommend the kimchi ramen & the donut but everything on the menu is exceptional. If I could give more stars I would! The team is great too.

The restaurant is nicely decorated, light filled & fun. Wait staff is friendly, helpful & knowledgeable. Food was creative, & really tasty. It is my third time there, this time for a small birthday celebration & the experience was everything I hoped it would be. I had noted in my reservation that it was a birthday dinner & they seated us at a really nice table, it was great! My husband is not vegan & I am, he loved all of the food. Would highly recommend.

The mapo tofu ramen was fantastic! Full of sichuan pepper flavors, with shungiku (chrisanthemum) & kimchi. I'm usually not a big fan of silk tofu but here it fit perfectly with the bowl. They also have a very nice collection of cocktails: I had the enoki negroni where the mushroom taste was a nice addition, & the grilling of enoki just before serving a fantastic idea. I know several heavy meat-eaters who love this vegan place. A restaurant extremely recommended for everyone!
