I don't usually write long reviews, but this one definitely deserves it. Being from India- right from the capital, Delhi - I know what authentic Indian food tastes like. After living abroad for so many years, I've rarely come across Indian restaurants that truly hit the mark. I never walk in with high hopes anymore.
But TULA has cracked it. The authenticity, the creativity, the balance of flavors- everything was just on point. What blew me away even more? It's fully vegan, yet better than most traditional Indian food I've had at other places. The quality was top-notch.
We tried the Achari Tofu Masala, Biryani, & two desserts - & all I can say is: Incredible & soulful food.
I highly, highly recommend giving their food a try. This place is something special ❤?
As someone from India, I can confidently say this is one of the most authentic Indian dining experiences I've had outside the country-& the fact that it's entirely vegan makes it an even rarer & more special find. Every dish on the menu is crafted with incredible care & thought, perfectly balancing traditional Indian flavors with plant-based ingredients.
You can truly taste the depth of flavor & attention to detail in every bite-it reminded me of the home-cooked meals I grew up with. This isn't just a good vegan restaurant; it's an outstanding Indian restaurant, period. In fact, the vegan adaptations here raise the bar even for traditional Indian eateries.
If you're looking for genuine Indian food with all the warmth, spice, & soul-but plant-based-this place is a must-visit. Highly recommended!
Wonderful vegan Indian restaurant. The servers were pleasant, the atmosphere was beautiful & relaxing & the food was authentic & delicious. I had the idli & a mango lassi (best I've ever had & I've been to many great Indian restaurants in the U.S. & India). Thank you for a delicious meal!
Hi everyone, I'm leaving a review here to encourage you to go explore the sunny dishes of Tula restaurant, a gem of an Indian Vegan restaurant on Saint Laurent right above Fairmount. I didn't know quite what to expect, & was enchanted by all of the depth of flavor, texture & deliciousness of all the dishes we tried.
Definitely try the Koshimbir salad, like a loaded coleslaw with a twist & a medley of tangy flavours & colours; cabbage, carrot, greens, pomegranates, mung beans/lentils, walnuts & a few edible flowers on top. So pretty & surprisingly hearty.
The vegan Tikka Masala with plant based'chicken' was so satisfying in flavor, colour & texture who would've known it was vegan. Just a delight in every bite.
Do not miss Grandma's Special Coconut Curry. It has everything in it to satisfy all of your taste buds, with beautiful fresh bright green peas, potatoes, plant-based protein & a golden yellow colour that warms your soul & leaves it glowing.
The Black Chickpea & Black-Eyed Pea Ghassi had just the right amount of warmth & was so tasty. So happy to have tried this unique dish. The Jeera rice was a perfect balance of cumin seeds & cilantro & the Chapatis were warm, soft & pillowy, so tasty & smelled good.. What is their secret?
Top it off with a tall glass of hibiscus & ginger, & you're good to go. The food was so clean, thoughtful, considered, packed some huge flavours & was wildly satisfying. Special thanks to Priyanka & Brenda for being such lovely hosts & for offering a fun & cohesive service. I can't wait to come back again to try more. Yay Tula!
Loved the food & the experience. It was packed on an early evening on a Sunday. Loved the Koshimbir & panna cotta, & I highly recommend it. Pleasantly surprised by the chapati, which was so much better than the roti you get at a general Indian restaurant. Grandma s Curry was flavorful. If you like more heat, ask for the hot sauce which is quite hot.
If your are looking for pure vegan & vegetarian meal, Tula is best option.
Today I enjoyed Indian Vegan Thali. It was amazing.
Best Indian food l have had so far. Not oily, greasy & unnecessarily spicy. The owner mentioned TULA means balance in Sanskrit. The food is indeed very balanced. The decor is very interesting & they use compostable plant leaves based plates. There is some positive energy in TULA & a sense of satisfaction ✨? after dining in there. It's all vegan & healthy. My daughter studies in Montreal & we found a gem here just as we did in Toronto for Indian food. They even mentioned 99% of their menu is gluten free & serve gluten free chapatis if you wish to eat gluten free. The food is very healthy, balanced & yet so tasty. The place was packed & the owner handled a very annoying Indian lady very well. She was very lonely, demanding & very unfriendly.
The most exceptional, creative, authentic & delicious cuisine I have had in Montreal, & that is beyond just vegan & Indian restaurants. Don't miss it!!
This Indian restaurant is an absolute gem! From the moment you walk in, the warm & inviting atmosphere sets the perfect tone for an amazing dining experience. The portions are generous, the flavors are rich, & every dish is cooked to perfection. The appetizers were a fantastic start-bursting with flavor & beautifully presented. But the real stars of the show? The biryani, tikka masala, & butter plant-based chicken. Each bite was packed with bold, aromatic spices that made it impossible to put my fork down. On top of the incredible food, the service was outstanding-friendly, attentive, & always ready with great recommendations. If you're craving authentic, delicious Indian cuisine, this is the place to be. Highly recommend!
