We've been searching for great Indian spots in Montreal & I think we found the one! & it just happens to be vegan which is a big plus. Abhishek, the owner was so kind & it's clear how much love & thought goes into every element of the restaurant. The dishes are well curated for both who enjoy spice (& I'm Indian) & milder but still yummy flavors. Offering dishes from all around India, Tula has a flavor profile for everyone. If you're Indian: they have a curry that's achar based that's amazing & got spice 🌶️ If you're vegetarian: the fake meat here is so well done (with non GMO soy ingredients) & marinated with flavors (which is hard to get right for fake meats) 🤤 * Note: because it's vegan, coconut based ingredients are often the substitute for dairy! I enjoy it but not everyone is a big fan of coconut so heads up!
The service was incredible! We absolutely loved it. The owner said things like, "It makes me so happy to see that" (my plate being completely eaten!) & he went into depth explaining all the dishes. & we had the best interaction with him after our meal where he wanted to know all the best vegan restaurants in the city we were from to try them himself & then he gave us recommendations of other vegan restaurants in Montreal he loves. & the food was INCREDIBLE!
Tula excels at satisfying cravings for traditional Indian dishes, each with a unique twist. Abhishek, the warm & welcoming host, ensures we understand each item & makes us feel right at home. I highly recommend the Koshambri & Grandma's Special Curry.
I recently visited this restaurant with my office colleagues, & it brought back fond memories of my days in Mumbai with its authentic Indian Thali & incredible variety of dishes. Abhishek, our host, was exceptional & provided detailed explanations of the menu. I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone seeking delicious Indian vegan food.
We are family of four from Toronto & frequently travelling across the country. We know some of the best restaurants in the North but rarely post any review. On the way from our last road trip we found this gem in Montreal & we decided to give it a try. TBH food was super delicious with a surprise twist & that made me to write this honest review. Must Must try - 1. Koshimbir 2. Stir fry veggies with house special ginger sauce 3. Vegan Butter Chicken 4. Vegan Chicken Biryani 5. Spicy/hot veggies Biryani 6. Chapati There are some rare gem of the dishes on the menu as well & we are going to try on our next visit. Thank you team "TULA" & you are doing great, keep going!! Conclusion - Highly recommended restaurant. Super friendly & knowledgeable
Loved this place. The ambiance was really great & comfortable. We asked for 3 dishes choice of the chef & we were delighted with the result ! The food is really great & staff very friendly Thanks for this great time
Tula is without a doubt my favorite restaurant in Montreal. I was in town for three months, & after my first time eating here, Tula became a weekly stop. It's not just the best vegan food I have ever eaten, but the best Indian food as well. Grandma's curry, the biryani, & any one of the three exceptionally creative desserts are especially worth tasting. The variety of flavors & the uniqueness of the dishes even make this a great place to take a non-vegan. The atmosphere is very pleasant & calming, & the service is outstanding: special shout-out to Abhi & Alina for their warm hospitality during my repeated visits. This is a must-stop destination for anyone coming to Montreal, & well worth going out of your way to experience.
I had the best lunch today at Tula. The big colorful sign caught my eye, so I stepped into a cozy, beautiful & welcoming environment. The owner showed me a picture of the daily special - a sample of several dishes & I went for it. So so so happy i did. The joy & love that is put into this food is FELT. After talking to the owner for a bit it became really obvious that he loves food, creating new recipes, playing with traditional dishes. It's fun - the whole place is fun. I felt really nourished & energized after lunch. It was perfect. I will definitely be back next time I'm in Montreal.
Man oh man let me say One place you need to try this is definitely the place especially If you are A fan of Indian food period But do keep in mind that this is a vegan place But the flavors are so complex & robust It is so worth it To step out of your comfort zone Are only a meat eater. We made the mistake of coming In between launch & dinner service Period We thought it was open because the sign said open but they do take a break between Lunching dinner service so keep that in mind which I think is between four & five o'clock. but we did enter during that time The gentleman let us know that they were on their break but it was definitely worth it for us to come back Which we did & which we were very happy we did. The waiter was extremely knowledgeable Of the menu & very helpful with helping us decide Which dishes Going to be good for us here He was a tremendous help very upbeat & personable We experience you get with him alone Would be worth the visit but just know you're also going to be observed some amazing food.
