Be careful the two metered spots directly in front of the restaurant are reserved for deliveries during the day Monday to Friday (I thought I was super lucky LOL). Adorable atmosphere with lots of colour & greenery. Weekday lunches offer the Thali sampling plate. It's a must try. Everything is plant based so it's safe for lactose intolerant friends & most items are gluten free. Everything was perfectly balanced & flavourful. The mango lassi is made with coconut yogourt & no added sugar so it's light & you don't feel bloated afterwards. The best part is the staff. The owner is so passionate about sharing his love for food that it translates into the menu & the dishes. I'll be back to try Grandma's curry.
Visited Tula recently while coming from Toronto, & it was a wonderful experience. The restaurant is a small & cozy place, & at first we were a bit hesitant because of the size, but once the food arrived we were truly impressed.
The dishes were fresh, flavorful, & beautifully prepared. It's amazing how they recreate classic Indian flavors in a completely vegan way. The curries & biryani were especially delicious & felt light yet very satisfying. The atmosphere was warm & welcoming, & the service was friendly & attentive.
I visited with my colleagues & we all loved the food. If you're looking for authentic plant-based Indian cuisine in Montreal, this place is definitely worth visiting. Highly recommende
I can't say enough amazing things about this restaurant. Just go try it out! The food is amazing, affordable pricing & a wholesome vibe. The owner Abhi is all class & serves dishes from his childhood. This place is an absolute gem!
One of my favourite dining experience, the mantra of this place should be tasty food doesn't need to be unhealthy.
Abhishek is passionate & it shows every where, from the inspiration behind his dishes to how he describes every dish.
Hands down can recommend this place to anyone.
Tried the nachos, the tikka masala, the poutine & the biryani. Every thing was so good.
If you're looking for exceptional vegan & gluten-free dining in Canada, TULA in Montreal is an absolute must-visit. Every time I'm in Montreal, I make it a point to dine here.
What makes TULA truly special is its focus on plant-based, gluten-free cuisine with little to no oil, creating meals that are not only delicious but incredibly healthy & balanced. The menu beautifully blends Indian & Pan-Asian flavours, offering dishes that feel nourishing, vibrant, & thoughtfully prepared. Whether you're vegan, gluten-free, or simply looking for wholesome food, this place delivers in every way.
The owner is incredibly charming & knowledgeable, & took the time to walk us through the menu, explaining ingredients & helping us choose dishes that suited our preferences. That personal touch made the experience even more memorable.
The ambience is calm, zen, & beautifully designed, making it the perfect place to relax & enjoy a mindful meal. It's also very family-friendly with plenty of parking, which is a big plus.
Their wine list, beers, & refreshing cocktails are fantastic & pair wonderfully with the food.
Overall, TULA offers some of the best vegan, gluten-free, plant-based food not just in Montreal, but arguably in all of Canada. If you appreciate clean, nourishing cuisine with amazing flavour, this restaurant deserves a spot at the top of your list.
Highly recommended - easily one of the best plant-based restaurants in North America.
Incredible experience all around! Everything about Tula exudes of love & passion from the decor, to the service to & ambiance & obviously, the food. Dishes have been curated to perfection. Abhi, the owner, greeted us with the warmest smile & made sure to explain the menu in detail & answer any questions we had. It's rare to get such passionate & thorough service these days. One of my new favourites dine out places. We were there for brunch & cannot wait to go back again to taste their dinner menu. Thank you! ⭐?⭐?⭐?⭐?⭐?
When I entered Tula tonight with my family of 6, the owner Abhi & server Ranya welcomed us like friends, & presented their menu with passion, pride & Excitement.
We went all in, & took 9 different dishes!
It was all delicious, aromatic, balanced, creative & made with dedication.
We discovered interesting textures, aromas, & complex flavours with dimension together.
We also, all enjoyed talking with our hosts about food, travel, people, & life during our visit.
It was a fun experience & we loved the food.
Sure to go again! 💯
First time there, the owner made us feel very welcome & the ambiance inside the restaurant was calm & quite appeasing. The food was very flavorful, I ordered the degustation menu which gave me a chance to try numerous of their dishes at once, highly recommend !
Abhi runs a wonderful restaurant. The fact that the generous menu is all vegan makes it a treat to visit with my vegan friends. A variety of Indian dishes across all regions are offered (great for foodies), the music & decor are welcoming & relaxing, & Abhi is extremely passionate about serving great food. Looking forward to returning!
Tula was an absolute delight. The restaurant opens for dinner at 5pm & we got there between 5:15 & 5:30; we were the first patrons. The restaurant was packed by 6:30 & we also saw many take out orders. We learned later that the owner & chef/menu creator himself follows a gluten free & vegan diet. This made sense as the menu was 100% vegan & 99% gluten free.
We started with masala chai, which hit the spot after a long day. The chai was served in a little matki (clay pot) & was aromatic.
For our appetizer we ordered the ragda patties, a street food. It was served in a small copper skillet. The dish was made very well with authentic flavors throughout. The potato patties were topped with the ragda (chickpea gravy) & garnished with sev (thin fried crispy noodles made from gram flour) & the traditional green/coriander & sweet/tamrind chutneys. Every bite had flavor. It's a big dish & perfect to share.
For our entree we split two dishes. We ordered the tofu tikka masala & jeera aloo mutter with two rotis (1 regular & 1 gluten free). The tofu tikka masala was seriously comforting. The dish tasted like it was homemade, was packed with flavor from simple ingredients & earthy spices. The jeera aloo mutter is a dry dish & mild. For us it worked well to use the gravy from the tofu tikka masala with the jeera aloo mutter. A simple dish, but very comforting. We were thoroughly impressed with the GF roti! The texture & taste were exactly like regular wheat roti…compliments to the chef for nailing it!
& finally for dessert we ordered what Chef Abhishek called a beautiful choice. The gulkand panna cotta. The flavors of this dessert are inspired by paan. Oh my god, this dessert really was insane. It captured the flavors & textures of paan without being overly bearing on either. The shredded coconut atop the panna cotta was'the icing on the cake.'
We chatted with Chef Abhishek to learn more about his inspiration & compliment him on his restaurant & menu. We learned that Tula means Balance in Sanskrit. He took everyone's orders & would take time to talk to all patrons.
This was an absolute gem. Chef Abhishek also shared his thoughts & execution for lunch/brunch. We wish we could have come back the following day to try out the lunch thali, which looks very unique/creative.
