This is the spot. I've ordered & been to TULA quite a few times now, & it has become my favourite restaurant in the city. Montreal has so much amazing food, & TULA tops them all. Not only is the food some of the tastiest food you'll eat, but it's also super healthy. When you tell people you're vegan, the assumption is that you eat relatively healthy. But not so much when you eat out. Vegan does not equal healthy. TULA is delicious, vegan, healthy & totally unique. The owner, Abhishek, is also the nicest, most humble chef & host. He is very passionate about what he does & it shows in his food. He's also a strong supporter of other vegan chefs in the city, & his appreciation for those who directly provide for the vegan community was really sweet & refreshing. Rather than see each other as competition, I love that there's support between those chefs. Regarding the food, I've eaten at TULA for dinner mostly, but recently discovered they also served brunch, & both are delicious. For brunch, my partner & I tried the Bombay Sandwich & the Brunch Platter. The sandwich had multiple layers of greatness & texture. The platter had a few items from the brunch menu, all of which are interesting & different. Sambar, black chickpea salad, chutneys but best of all: the sweet potato porridge. I could have eaten buckets of that porridge. As for dinner food, so far I've tried the: - Koshimbir (isn't it so great when a salad isn't treated as an afterthought & menu-filler?) - Grandma's Special Coconut Curry (good lord, amazing, had it with the assorted veggies & vegan chicken) - Dal Tadka (love the flavor) - Jeera Matar Aloo (maybe I love cumin, this was delicious too) - Biryani with jackfruit (the vegan mint raita is glorious) - Tofu Bhurjee (awesome with the chapati) Food from TULA actually has a lot of real estate on my mind, & I absolutely will keep on returning to try food I've yet to have the chance to eat.
Nou étions de passage à Montréal & avons testé le brunch. Un accueil chaleureux & une excellente cuisine ! On recommande chaudement !
Brunch végétalien délicieux. Le lassi à la mangue est le meilleur que j'aie goûté. Nous avons pris le plateau de dégustation & chaque item était excellent. Les portions sont généreuses. Nous reviendrons pour essayer le menu du soir!
Having a wonderful & healthy brunch after a long time. Loved every bite of the food. Special mention to Mr.Abhishek for his hospitality......
One of the best Indian restaurants in the city - & just so happens to be vegetarian. Homey food, beautiful presentation, & great service. A must-visit for brunch, lunch or dinner!
Wow what an incredible experience! My wife & I enjoyed the brunch platter & it was a celebration of flavors! Owned by such passionate & kind people! We will be back for lunch & dinner to try more!
I honestly wasnt impressed by the flavors. We ordered the biryani & the grandma curry but I feel like there was no balance in the flavours. For anyone who's going there mainly for the platter, keep in mind that its available only for brunch. Service was good & fast though
I went there last Friday evening with one of my friends. Let me just start off by saying, before & after being a vegan...hands down the best Indian food I have ever had. When the owner asked how the food was I was with my mouth full but my face of "oh God this is amazing" was full on. The owner is extremely calm & friendly, explains everything to you, very nice man & the place is small but cozy, warm & calming as well. I was telling my friend that whoever is cooking in the back, I will marry them for the food. We had the butter "chicken" poutine, butter "chicken" with chapati & the biryani. Yes, our eyes were bigger than our stomachs but we were more than happy to take leftovers home. The spices used for everything were perfect, not too spicy, a perfect blend, a bit of sweetness to it. Definitely look forward to returning & trying their brunch menu! I wish we took pictures but we jumped right into the food!
At Tula, I felt as though I was on a trip to India, enjoying tasty vegan food, referred to as "pure vegetarian" there - with no dairy ingredients. There were three of us. I chose the special thali with eight little bowls, each one with a unique blend of spices & flavour. The owner served us as though we were in his home, & we enjoyed exchanging anecdotes about our travels in India while we ate our way through the various courses. The vegan chicken tikka masala was very good, & I specially enjoyed the grandmother's dish with a delicious blend of spices. We'll be back to sample the brunch menu!
