Review Summary

Overall, Susie Sans Gluten is described as a gluten free paradise with a wide and evolving range of products, from bread and pizzas to desserts like cannoli, cupcakes, tortellini and the miche loaf, with many reviewers noting items are delicious and clearly gluten free and safe from cross contamination. The shop is praised for friendly, helpful staff and a clean, welcoming atmosphere, and there are mentions of Friday takeout meals and the ability to recreate items that are hard to find elsewhere. For pantry staples and treats, it is seen as a go to source, though some notes highlight that prices can be high and a few pastries or doughs can be dry or overly sweet. The store is widely viewed as a lifesaver for gluten free diets and a reliable place to find both dessert options and everyday staples.

There is so much room for improvement for this business, beginning with the owner. The owner herself has zero knowledge on customer service. When owning a business, it is normal to get multiple critiques, it matters in the way you answer your customers. For example, I tried to order a cake when I was newly confirmed celiac, it was a custom design & I was really looking forward to it after all the testing I had been through the previous year, thinking a gluten free cake would have made my day a bit more special. In order to get the cake in the first place, we had to first pay her a full payment, there was no deposit. The day of my birthday party we went to get my cake all the way in laval, Susie had confirmed the night before that the cake would be ready the next day, however when we got there DAY OF my birthday there was no cake in sight. They simply « forgot » to make my cake. As you can imagine it really made me feel bad as I had kind of been looking forward to my birthday party. Moreover, through the entire communication to place this order not once did she think to contact us any other way than strictly email & her responses were very dismissive to any questions or concerns we had. Keep in mind I had just been diagnosed about a month before my birthday. I kind of found this behaviour odd compared to other businesses i've ordered from. With all the publicity that she posts on instagram, one would think this is business is overall trustworthy, however that is further than the truth in my perspective. Recently I went back & ordered a croissant. It was the driest thing i've ever put in my mouth. I immediately stopped eating & chugged water. I see that she keeps mentioning that's it not from her bakery but Marquis. I've been to marquis & had the same croissant & it was beautifully baked. I don't know what happens once it reaches your store but it's genuinely gross. Moreover, I've heard horror stories from workers, & multiple customers apart from reviews. I truly think instead of bashing everyone online in your reviews you should start to focus on improving the points in your business that people are complaining about.

Response to her response cuz this is crazy lol.
# 1 what about the whole cake that you made me pay upwards of 200 dollars for & then never made after we confirmed countless times. Why are you just ignoring that? # 2 why do you only have one girl working in the front & then complain that you got a one star because they needed to use the washroom & leave the front unattended.
# 3 I do not know why you have such a god complex, as if you are the only bakery selling gluten free sweets. You fully admitted to buying from other bakeries, what is stopping people from going there? In no way am I trying to « shut you down » you obviously just cannot take criticism. Your responses are unfortunate. If you began to answer with poise, & class, maybe your business would be doing better & you wouldn't be so worried about a one star review completely shutting your business down. But that's just me!

The pastries have a nice taste & texture (with the exception of the croissant) but I generally find them overly sweet. They do have a great range of gluten-free products though, so I still go there from time to time. Nice environment, the staff is helpful & friendly. I wish we could call on the phone to get information but you can only email them

I was diagnosed with celiac disease almost exactly a year ago, & this shop was literally a lifesaver for me. It made this difficult transition a lot easier &, above all, way more tasty! ☺?

They are always improving & coming up with new recipes. There are the awesome Friday takeouts, & they also recreate items we can't have, like BeaverTails or fast food classics. Over the last year, everything I've bought there has been great, but I especially love the pizza dough, chocolate cupcakes, tortellini, chocolatines, & the new miche bread. I'm really grateful to have this shop not to far when I'm craving a little sweet treats or for pantry staples. 🩷

My favorite go to spot in Laval Quebec !! 100 % gluten free , they carry all sorts of stuff from bread to desserts. It's a one stop shop as they carry in house made items (cinnamon buns to die for) to croissant (from Boulangerie Le Marquis , another gluten free bakery). The owner is a real sweet heart & her baked goods are worth the drive .

Susie thank you for putting a smille on my daughters sweet face again. This place is our new happy place with desserts that are so delish, they have an awsome Frozen section ,from pizza dough to bread ,wontons & dumplings. Her pistachio raspberry cake is to die fix along with her carrot cake. It's a visit you will adore.

The place is super clean, organized & there is a very big variety.
The frozen mini carrot cupcakes were delicious!

I wanted to try their fresh pastries: I got 2 canolies & 2 strawberry sheescakes.
The strawberry cheesecake was too sweet for my liking: with a very thick layer of strawberry jam? For 11$ I expected better.

The canolis cream was a bit disappointing, it was not sweet enough. I got one chocolate ship & pistachio, & one nutella. None of them were tasty enough. 7$

I was happy to spend 7-11$ for one piece of pastry, until I tasted the pastries. I was expecting something tastier & delicious.

It's okay, but everything is too sweet for me. To much sugar.
