I haven't food like this since I was back in Poland. The service is top notch & the live music with inside scenery makes for an excellent experience!
I will dream about this place. Everything was perfectly cooked & tasted the way it should. Overall cool vibe & atmopsphere. The only thing was is that.. it was very silent lol. My friend & I felt like we had to whisper. I'd recommend having a little background music. Maybe it was just during the time I was there. Anyways, 10/10 would recommend.
I loved Stash Cafe, the atmosphere was super unique & cozy. They have created the perfect environment to enjoy hearty comforting meals. The pricing & portions was very good value for the overall experience. I will definitely be returning.
Highlights: Cabbage rolls were super tender, flavourful, & the right amount of meat.
The warm sauerkraut goes perfectly with the pork schnitzel.
The potatoes were so fluffy too & everything was seasoned nicely nothing was bland in the slightest.
Bonus points for the subtle live music from the pianist.
Not going to lie the only experience I previously had with Polish food was the acknowledgement that perogies exist. Thank goodness for the introduction from Stash Cafe. The ambiance is moody, with dark red lanterns & piano music, like an old speakeasy in your grandparents neighborhood. But the food... perogies are delicious dumplings (cheese & potato were my favorite!). Loved the pickled white fish as well. The entire meal was warm & delicious, the perfect pick me up after walking in the snow & cold. The only thing that didn't make me reminisce about my imaginary Polish grandmother was the dessert. It was fine, but there are plenty of places you can go to really satisfy a sweet tooth. Focus on the food & you can't go wrong.
Wonderful time here. Beautiful interior & music, wonderful atmosphere, & the food was tasty (good portions & prices). There was a very talented guy playing the piano. They were even occasionally chatting with coworkers & customers all while still playing perfectly!!! One of our side dishes arrived way after our mains did but we got it for free because of that. The waiter was very nice.
We noticed this restaurant on our first day of visiting Old Town & planned to visit it for lunch. My family is very familiar with Polish cuisine & every dish we ordered "tasted like childhood". It's pretty busy place so I would recommend to make reservation. Live piano music enhanced resturant's atmosphere.
Excellent experience! Will definitely return! Great service & food- was so cozy & had nice music!
Cozy. Time stands still here. Live piano music & friendly staff. It's good to have a reservation for dinner as there is a continuous line at the door. Food is the most authentic Polish cuisine I've had besides at home. A must while in Montréal!
We've been there twice & enjoyed both food & service. Great atmosphere, live music in the evening... Highly recommended!
We had an amazing experience tonight at this wonderful place. Usually you hope the wait for your table at a busy restaurant goes quickly but this wasn't true here. I enjoyed our wait for the table with their talented piano player & it was so much fun to listen to the music as we waited. The food was just off the chart delicious. I usually don't get dessert but tonight I did because I figured if the main course is this good then I have to see what the dessert is like. Also, I got an ultimate Manhattan... Best Manhattan ever.
I rarely rate any establishment as a 5* experience overall, including food, service, & atmosphere... But this place was top tier. The charm, the coziness, the atmosphere, the service, the food (including portion size, taste, & texture), the decor, the ambiance, the music, the people - *everything* was incredible. I'm usually a little awkward & reserved, but I guess the never ending rain made for some great conversation, because but I didn't feel out of place at any point during the evening. The piano player? Amazing. The wait staff? Phenomenal. The amount of people here were also not too many, which is a solid a+. I had the Table D'hôte with the crêpes, & everything was divine. Great night for a goodbye dinner with friends.
Everything about this place was superb 👌 great pianist with nice musical taste set a great tone for the restaurant. The ambient light & pub esthetic is very nice. & the food is great. Polish or not you'll love this place. Will be coming back.
Amazing all around. Great atmosphere & service, fantastic live music choices on the piano & Good portions for the price. & last but certainly not least Great food! I would recommend anyone to come & try this place out, polish or not.
Beautiful busy & lively restaurant, when I went they had live piano music. They allowed me to place a takeout order which they dont normally do so I was very appreciative of that. The beef stroganov was amazing very peppery & hearty. The side latkes are excellent as well as the julienned beet veggie side. My wife really enjoyed her mushroom krokiety. Would definitely come back again & dine-in next time. Highly recommended! We did takeout b/c we were traveling with our baby & one of us had to stay home & watch him.
Great live music, atmosphere, service, food, & beverage, what's not to like?! Everything tastes hearty & great, but I strongly recommend the breaded beef roll & potato pancake! & the peach cobbler!
Very cosy & authentic Polish food! The live music was also awesome!
My family is of Polish heritage, & I was excited to introduce my children to a wider variety of the cuisine than they've had at family gatherings. Our youngest children (7 & 9) are quite picky, & they finished dinner by saying it was their favorite meal of our Montreal trip; that's saying a lot because they have had pizza & grilled cheese. 😆 The staff wasn't fazed in the slightest when our large family of 6 came in without a reservation. We'd have made one had we known the smaller size of the restaurant. We were seated promptly. Food came out rather quickly, despite most tables being full of patrons. Every single item we ordered was remarkable! A pianist started playing during the latter portion of our meal, which was a lovely touch. A sign posted outside the restaurant says that music is played daily starting at 6:00PM. Go because you love Polish food. Go because you appreciate considerate & competent wait staff. Go because you like listening to live music while you dine. Go because your chicken-nugget-&-butter-noodle kids will totally dig the kielbasa. Whatever your reason, just go. Stash is worth it!
Food is fine. Staff is friendly. Have live piano music playing while you eat. Decent little restaurant downtown Montreal. Like it's pancake dessert.
Everything was perfect! Table d'hote was so good & so filling. Lots of polish people there so truly it must he good. Live piano music in the evenings just adds the cherry on top.
Walked in right before closing & they took us in. Everything we ordered was DELICIOUS. Get the herring dish called sledz you won't regret it. The live piano music, cozy decor, & wonderful service just made the entire dinner perfect. I'll recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Montreal.
