Tasteful decor with interesting Polish art work. Tavern style seating. Soft live piano music. Weiner schnitzel was classic. Veggie barley soup was tasty. The cabbage roll with pork & rice was quite good. Good place for classic tavern gru
This has to be my favourite meal I've had in my 8 months of living in Montreal. Stash Cafe had been on my bucket list for months, but due to the busy schedule & shallow pockets of a student like myself, I had to put off making the trip to Old Montreal for a while.
First of all, the restaurant itself is gorgeous. The ambiance is perfect with the soft piano & all the wonderful art to admire.
The beef pierogis were so flavourful & paired perfectly with the peppery sauerkraut & sour cream. Exactly what I needed today after finals. I tried both desserts, & while I felt the apple cobbler was a bit lacking (too much crust/not enough apples, & I felt like it should have been served warm instead of cold), the sweet cheese crepe was life changing. I could have drank a bucket of the raspberry coulis mixed with the sweet cream.
Our server was very friendly, the food came extremely fast after ordering, & the meal wasn't even that expensive! Two main courses & 2 desserts for $56 is extremely reasonable for this level of quality & deliciousness. I'll be returning the first chance I get after summer break!
Despite the food being flavorful & authentic, the overall experience was disappointing due to poor customer service. The staff came across as impatient, rude, & dismissive, which took away from an otherwise enjoyable meal.
Very good, authentic Polish food. The service is always amazing, & the live piano music is top tier.
Beautiful restaurant, variety of soups, i loved zurek, & the chicken sznycel is highly recommended!
Because we had booked in advance, we were given a great table in the corner by the window. This meant we had a view of the street but also soaked up the atmosphere without being in the lord centre of it. We loved the sound of the live piano playing.
We wanted the herring to start but they didn't have any so I had the kielbasa with fried onion & strong grain mustard which was tasty, whilst my husband had the Ukrainian beet consomme which was very tasty indeed.
We went for the debutant main course, a kind of taster plate. The food had nice flavours but for us it was too much stodge in one go & we couldn't finish it. We wish we'd ordered the schnitzel instead.
Growing up Polish, we always celebrated holidays with traditional Polish cuisine. My mom would also pick times to make trays of go??bki, or pierogi.
As a child, I didn't really enjoy it that much, but as I got older, I more appropriately understood the comforting value of Polish cuisine.
On a recent trip to Montreal, we visited Stash Cafe, & it was like I was teleported to my childhood, surrounded by happy people serving comforting Polish cuisine.
They have all the dishes you would expect, & they are all uperb. I went with a cheeky order of go??bki plus a kielbasa dish (because I had to try both). My wife had a veal cutlet, my daughter had bigos, & it was all terrific.
Five stars to the team at Stash Cafe, I cannot wait to return. Montreal continues to exceed expectations with the culinary scene, & Stash Cafe took it to new level for me personally!
Me & my dad are from germany with polish background, the food tasted exactly like the food my grandmother served! Feels like Poland & it is basically poland🇵🇱🇩🇪🇨🇦
We were surprised at how good the food was, & the waitress also speaks good Polish. Come & visit this nice restaurant.
Stopped here for lunch & was blown away. The prix fixe menu was amazing value - would highly recommend. The food was all hearty & delicious - as one would expect. The dill pickle soup was a fun surprise & the menu debutant & stroganoff were both top notch picks. My highlight was dessert - the peach crumble with fresh cream was absolutely amazing.
The real special thing here is the ambiance though. The dim lights, wooden benches, & the pianist playing really elevated the experience. Everyone moving through the space was absolutely struck by how great it was. Make sure to bring some cash to tip them!
I went to this restaurant for lunch in Montreal thinking it was just a normal restaurant but the food was absolutely amazing & delicious the atmosphere was nice too I liked the lights & the piano players who was playing beautifully the only thing I did not like was the wait for the food to come but for the quality it was worth it
Cozy, pleasant, warm atmosphere with interesting decor, great service. Marcos was very friendly & helpful. We went twice since we enjoyed it so much & he remembered us which was sweet. As a second generation polish/ukranian I found all the food very similar to my grandparents & very satisfying. I recommend the variety plate (debutant) to try everything. The borscht is more of a light & bright special occasion version than a hearty stew which was nice to see - I haven't seen that in a restaurant before. Great area too.
Great experience & helpful staff! Fun atmosphere that caters to locals & also visitors.
Nice atmosphere & authentic polish food :)

One of my most favorite local restaurants in Montreal, located right in the old port. It is the first Polish food that I tried & I was super impressed. The atmosphere is cozy & amazingly friendly, the food was delicious & portion is well proportional to the prices. Wether you're a local Montrealers or tourist, this place definitely will be worth checking out.
