It was our first night in Montreal & out of all the restaurants in the city, we chose Stash Cafe to start our journey. When we walked in, we immediately loved the atmosphere with the red lights & a piano playing. We had reservations & arrived right on time. We were told that our table wasn't ready, even though there were empty tables for two. We were then sat at a table for four & did not realize they would later seat two more people at our table. Very odd. Here's where it went downhill. The waiter came over - didn't introduce himself or say hello & basically asked us what we wanted. Hubbie ordered a beer which came out in a reasonable time. I asked for ice which I never received. Our meal started with soup, & we were quite hungry after a full day of traveling. We waited & waited for the soup while watching all the other tables around us get their full meals. After 30 minutes they sat the other two people at our'communal' table. Luckily, they were lovely & we enjoyed their company. After 45 minutes-- the other couple's order had been taken, & no one had checked on us or offered more drinks literally. We walked up to a waiter & said we had been waiting a long time. He just basically barked at me & said it was coming. After an hour, the other couple at the table who were seated at our table 30 minutes after us got their food! & we still had nothing not even soup. We again walked up to a different waiter who now realized we had been forgotten & worked on getting out the food. He did mumble something about the bus boy made a mistake. So our waiter was the bus boy? But when we did finally get our food, it was all stone cold. Had it been sitting there for an hour? They did try to make it right at the end, but honestly there is no recovery from the way we were treated. We have been to restaurants all over the world & this was up there with one of the worst overall experiences. Looking forward to a better experience at a different restaurant next time. The best part of the meal turned out the best the wonderful locals seated next to us.

When we walked in, a gentleman was playing the piano, immediately creating a warm & welcoming atmosphere. Our waiter was polite, attentive, & extremely helpful in guiding us through the French-Polish menu. His recommendations were spot on!

We truly had a wonderful culinary experience, & what made it even better was how reasonable the prices were. Great food, great service, & a beautiful atmosphere. Stash Café is definitely worth a visit!

I enjoyed visiting Stash Cafe since few years back. I always crave for their cobbler dessert & black coffee, especially.

However, about a week ago, I went to the restaurant with my husband again & we were somehow disappointed. It was on Saturday & the restaurant around 3-4pm was about 80% full. The service was slow, in terms of taking order, serving food & drinks. &, we had to remind the waiter of the hot coffee, because he forgot our order.

As usual for each visit, I ordered apple & peach cobblers. Sadly to say, the dessert was not nice. I kept quiet after taking it & when my husband tried one bite & he looked at me with his eyes opened big. We were like why the quality dropped that far down. Luckily we had a good Polish crepe dessert & the black coffee was still as nice as before.

It used to be when someone asked me which restaurant is worth visiting in Montreal, I would recommend Stash Cafe. But if I was asked again, I probably would not say the same. Stash Cafe has been unique to me but I do expect good quality for both food & service.

Still remember vividly during our second visit, other than tipping usual, we still tip one particular waiter separately & generously. Imagine that level of service!

While it is understood that when a restaurant is busy, slower service can be expected but I do think that it just can't be very slow & not that professional.

First-things-first. I would like to say thank you so much to Kyle & to all the amazing staff of Stash Café for the impeccable service. We celebrated my sister's birthday here & it was the best dining experience we ever had. After dinner, Kyle came back with a little cake adorned with a cute lighted candle & everyone started singing Happy Birthday, in English & Polish accompanied with a piano. It was beautiful! Food was delicious. We ordered the table d'hôte debutant so we could have 4 different dishes in one plate & each dish was a delight. The Kotlet Schabowy was equally delicious, crispy & yet tender on the inside. Overall, our dining experience was fantastic. Thank you so much Stash Café for the unforgettable evening. We truly enjoyed our dinner!

A wonderful experience at Stash Café. I had the pleasure of rediscovering dishes from my roots & introducing them to my wife.

Everything was delicious: the kapusta, the pierogi, & the kie?basa… a real treat! The atmosphere was also excellent, especially thanks to a very talented pianist who made the experience even more enjoyable.

We also shared a lovely moment with one of the waitresses, with whom we talked about our origins & roots.

Generous, authentic food full of memories, served in a warm & welcoming atmosphere. We will gladly come back.

Been coming to Stash Café for years & it never gets old, especially on a quiet Saturday afternoon when the lunch crowd thins out & you can actually hear the old Polish folk music they play softly in the background. Last weekend I had the bigos again, that slow-cooked hunter's stew, & it was exactly as hearty & comforting as I remembered it. The staff recognized me from previous visits & brought out a little extra bread without me even asking, which is the kind of small thing that keeps regulars coming back. If you have not been yet & you want a genuinely warm, no-fuss meal in the Old Port area, this is the place.

Third time at Stash Café...crazy busy Thursday night on a chilly May evening in Old Montreal. Place was packed, pianist playing tunes, warm atmosphere...our waiter Marco made us feel as though we were guests in someone's home. The service was fast but not rushed, warm but not pressing, the food was so tasty that our four-top ordered seconds. I couldn't ask for a better evening out with plump perogis, juicy sausages with tangy sauerkraut...so glad we decided to walk home to burn off some of those delectable calories!

This has to be my favourite meal I've had in my 8 months of living in Montreal. Stash Cafe had been on my bucket list for months, but due to the busy schedule & shallow pockets of a student like myself, I had to put off making the trip to Old Montreal for a while.

First of all, the restaurant itself is gorgeous. The ambiance is perfect with the soft piano & all the wonderful art to admire.

The beef pierogis were so flavourful & paired perfectly with the peppery sauerkraut & sour cream. Exactly what I needed today after finals. I tried both desserts, & while I felt the apple cobbler was a bit lacking (too much crust/not enough apples, & I felt like it should have been served warm instead of cold), the sweet cheese crepe was life changing. I could have drank a bucket of the raspberry coulis mixed with the sweet cream.

Our server was very friendly, the food came extremely fast after ordering, & the meal wasn't even that expensive! Two main courses & 2 desserts for $56 is extremely reasonable for this level of quality & deliciousness. I'll be returning the first chance I get after summer break!

Growing up Polish, we always celebrated holidays with traditional Polish cuisine. My mom would also pick times to make trays of go??bki, or pierogi.
As a child, I didn't really enjoy it that much, but as I got older, I more appropriately understood the comforting value of Polish cuisine.
On a recent trip to Montreal, we visited Stash Cafe, & it was like I was teleported to my childhood, surrounded by happy people serving comforting Polish cuisine.
They have all the dishes you would expect, & they are all uperb. I went with a cheeky order of go??bki plus a kielbasa dish (because I had to try both). My wife had a veal cutlet, my daughter had bigos, & it was all terrific.
Five stars to the team at Stash Cafe, I cannot wait to return. Montreal continues to exceed expectations with the culinary scene, & Stash Cafe took it to new level for me personally!
