St-Viateur Bagel est une institution montréalaienne connue pour ses bagels cuits au bois, servis chauds et frais avec une belle variété allant du sesame au raisin cannelle en passant par rosemary sea salt et whole wheat. L'atelier et la vue sur la cuisson ajoutent au charme et les bagels sortent régulièrement du four, moelleux à l'intérieur et croustillants à l'extérieur. Le lieu attire beaucoup de monde et les files peuvent être longues, mais le service est rapide et l'équipe est souvent décrite comme efficace et sympathique; il s'agit principalement d'une offre take away sans beaucoup de places assises et le paiement en espèces est courant, avec un distributeur sur place. L'emplacement et l'accès en transport en commun facilitent la visite, et beaucoup repartent avec des douzaines pour ramener chez eux. Dans l'ensemble, les avis reconnaissent la qualité et l'authenticité du produit, même si certains estiment que la consistance peut varier et que d'autres options peuvent être plus régulières ailleurs.
The bagels are really tasty & affordable. I did got onion, sesame & rosemary which some cream cheese (which you need to purchase extra). All of them tasted great, especially the ones being fresh out of the oven.
Best bagel in town, better, in my opinion, than the counterpart on Fairmount 😅 Fast & efficient, I'd recommend the classic sesame as they're fresher & authentic. All others are fresh but not out of the oven minutes ago. We'll priced. Don't need to splurge on cream cheese & other goods there, much more expensive than at any grocery store around the corne
i'm still thinking about it. warm. chewy. soft. a hint of sweetness. i think the everything bagel was the best bagel i have ever had. make sure you get a fresh one. & have cash.
Bagels that gave NYC a run for their money. These bagels are handmade & baked fresh. You cannot get a better bagel elsewhere. It was like if a Bavarian pretzel & a bagel had a love child & honey was used somewhere in the process. It was the perfect texture (more squishy like a pretzel) & slightly sweet. Absolutely loved them. If you're looking for authentic mom & pop bagels, this should be on your list.

They only accept cash. With that out of the way, they do serve fresh bagels in different flavors & they all tasted great. Service was fast & efficient & they do have some souvenirs for sale too.
Ask for the fresh ones only. mostly sesame seed. Or else you'll most likely get a very hard bagel, not the gooey & soft one that came out the table. $1.25 cad for one sesame

This place lives upto its reputation. Super fresh bagels..tastes so different in itself..don't need to add any smears. Stayed fresh & soft even after couple days. Iconic place & must visit when in Montreal
You go here for the bagels. You must eat them right away when they are the freshest. They offer plenty of things for take out but there isn't any seating.
The original St Viateur Bagel & a staple food in Montreal. I have been here several times & I never got tired of watching them make the fresh bagels, pulling them out of the wood fired oven, & eating them hot. Their "everything bagel" 🥯, plain bagels, cinnamon raisin bagels & actually all their bagels are to die for. They have other products you can pair your hot fresh bagels with, such as smoked salmon, cream cheese, fruity cream cheese & others I cannot recommend this place enough for your bagel cravings. Seriously, eat here.
Stopped by on a food tour & got an everything bagel, holy hell it was amazing. Fresh out of their wood fired oven. I've eaten more than my fair share of bagels over the years, including in NYC, & these ruined all other bagels straight up. From here on out, whenever I have another bagel I'll feel a bit sad it's not one of these. I'm staying an hour outside of Montreal & actually considering going into town just to buy a dozen to bring back with me. Maybe if I keep two they'll breed & make baby bagels for me to feast on... Okay, that's dark. Seriously, eat here.
I don't get the hype of these bagels, they taste pretty mediocre, maybe Montreal bagels aren't my thing. Staff was friendly & they gave me one right out of the oven so it was warm & fresh!
Amazing bagels, especially fresh out of the oven! This is only a bakery, but you can purchase fixings, i.e cream cheese & smoked salmon to make your own sandwiches at home. They do have a cafe location near Mont Royal where they will make sandwiches. It's unfortunate they choose not to tell us this when we visited. Ladies at the cashier were not kind & annoyed with our questions.
The original St Viateur Bagel. No matter how many times I've been there over the years I never get tired of watching them make the bagels, pulling them out of the oven, & eating them oh so hot & fresh. & of course taking a bunch home for eating later.
Exceptional bagels! Even after traveling 600 kilometers, they remain fresh & delicious. Regret not purchasing more. The service was excellent & friendly.
