fresh(11) cash(8) grocery(8) recommend(6) esposito(5) quality(5) all dressed(4) sesame(4) cheese(4) oven(4) cafe(3) hidden(3)I was excited to try the famous Montreal-style bagels, but the experience was just average for me. The bagels were fresh, & there was a good variety to choose from, but I found them a bit overrated compared to what I expected. The staff were polite, & the shop was clean, but overall it didn't quite live up to the hype. Worth trying once if you're curious, but it wasn't a place I'd personally go out of my way to visit again.
I had my first St-Viateur Bagel here. Hot & fresh! I ordered the sesame & all dressed. 10/10 would recommend. Cash only
The owner was so kind. We came there looking for the cream cheese along with bagels . This location only sells bagels. The owner gave us an alternate address plus hot free bagels for the kids that just came out of the oven. That made the kids very happy. Thank you for the great service
The other review showing a cafe is wrong, they're pictures from another location. This grocery store location only sells four bagel flavours, cash only. No seating or special sandwich types available.
If you find yourself in the Saint-Laurent area craving a true Montreal-style bagel but want to avoid the iconic, hour-long lines at the Mile End flagship, look no further than the St-Viateur Bagel counter hidden inside Marché Esposito on Boulevard Marcel-Laurin.
This location is an absolute hidden gem. While you won't find a fancy café menu or an elaborate selection of artisanal cream cheeses here, you will find exactly what matters: the authentic, OG Montreal bagel. Because it is tucked away inside a working supermarket, the experience feels refreshingly local & efficient. I have visited multiple times & have yet to wait in anything resembling a line.
The quality is everything you expect from the brand-the perfect chew, that subtle honey-water sweetness, & the signature crispy crust from the wood-fired oven. These bagels are the real deal, pulled hot & fresh in a setting that prioritizes substance over spectacle.
Beyond the product, the staff are genuinely wonderful. They are kind, welcoming, & clearly take pride in the legacy of the bakery they represent. It's a warm, no-nonsense experience that lets the food speak for itself.
Whether you are grabbing a dozen to take home or just need one hot sesame bagel for the road, this spot is a masterclass in convenience without compromising on quality. For anyone living or working in the greater Montreal area, I cannot recommend this hidden outpost strongly enough. It is the quintessential neighborhood bagel experience.
This location is inside a little grocery store... the staff are awesome 👍🏻
Do you guys know that you can get freshly baked authentic St-Viateur bagels here?! Yup, hot, straight out of a wood burning oven. Make a left after you pick up your bagels, to the fish counter, & pick up the best smoked salmon in the city. I don't have to tell you about the cream cheese.
