There is nothing like grabbing a bag of hot bagels & devouring one 🥯on the step of the bakery. I feel sad for my friends who will receive theirs 9 hours later after the long drive home. Don't forget your cash & don't miss the portrait of Bill Shatner near the entrance. I even feel sorry for Captain Kirk💫& every expat of Montreal … too bad Mr. Scott can't fix the transporter to get him here every morning.
Delicious just a reminder they are cash only. Order what ever bagel is fresh & warm, cannot go wrong!
Cash only, zero atmosphere, not a restaurant, get great wood fired bagels & leave. Fast & efficient line up moves fast!
The bagels we got were not fresh & hard, felt like they were a day old.
Great bagels & service. When you can catch them without a lineup, BONUS!
Les meilleurs bagels de Montréal!
On voit la fabrication & la cuisson c'est sympa.
Cependant aucun sourire & pas bon accueil, c'est dommage vu la qualité des bagels..

St?Viateur Bagel - Montreal
There's a comfort in returning to a place that gets it right every time. St?Viateur has that steady, unmistakable rhythm - the wood?fired oven working nonstop, the air warm with sesame, & trays of bagels coming out with that signature crisp exterior & chewy center.
Whether you stop in early in the morning or later in the day, the experience stays consistent: friendly, unpretentious, & focused on the craft. The sesame bagel remains the classic, but everything that comes out of that oven carries the same quiet confidence.
It's the kind of spot you find yourself revisiting without thinking - a small Montreal ritual that never disappoints.
The iconic Montreal Bagel experience! Great fresh hot bagels & quick in & out. Took some home for the family per their request.
We had to wait 30min but it was worth it. Bagel sandwiches were delicious & staff was amazing.
Long wait.
Cash only. Which is advertised no where despite multiple reviews here showing that is been a problem in the past.
Staff is rude & snobby,
& really - pretty average to be honest.
Go spend your money & wait somewhere else.
** Cash only, so bring it! There's an ATM but fees are higher than a bank ATM. ** Bagels are worth the trip! Try all the flavors - especially the Everything & Pretzel Salt bagels. Note: Montréal style bagels are thinner, denser & more flavorful - best eaten warm from the oven or toasted. At this flagship location, no seating inside, so pop over to a nearby coffee shop (recommend: Cafe Felice).
St-Viateur Bagel is a great place to enjoy authentic Montreal bagels at a good price. The bagels themselves are very good-fresh, flavorful, & exactly what you expect from such an iconic spot.
One interesting aspect is how the toppings work. They give you the bagel, & then you choose & buy whatever you want to put on it from the refrigerators next to the counter. You assemble it yourself. This setup has both pros & cons: it gives you flexibility & choice, but it may not be ideal if you're looking for a fully prepared bagel sandwich.
I also liked that they have a wide selection of souvenirs, which makes the visit more fun, especially for tourists. On top of that, the service was friendly & efficient.
Overall, it's a classic Montreal experience with good bagels, fair prices, & a unique self-serve style that many people will enjoy.
CASH ONLY!!! But the bagels are worth it!!! Lots of toppings to buy from the fridge since they do not make sandwiches at this location & they will provide you with utensils, etc.
Service rapide & correcte côté qualité mais rien de fou & un très gros red flag : ne pas pouvoir payer en carte de crédit !
