Review Summary

Brasserie Bernard is widely regarded as a quintessential Parisian-style bistro in Montreal, celebrated for its sophisticated atmosphere, elegant decor, and generally consistent French cuisine. Many patrons praise standout dishes such as the duck confit, steak frites, veal ravioli, and fresh oysters, often noting that the warm and professional service enhances the overall experience. While the restaurant is a favorite for special occasions and neighborhood dining, recent feedback indicates some inconsistencies regarding service speed, noise levels, and plate presentation. Additionally, while many appreciate the quality, some diners have expressed concerns regarding pricing, portion sizes, and occasional lapses in food preparation, suggesting that the experience can vary depending on the visit.

Toujours excellent !

The food was very good. They had a good selection of food, drinks & desserts. My only critique is that each meal should cost at least $5 less than what is indicated on the menu. Very good overall.

This is one of the best brasseries in Montreal. I have never had a bad meal here.

A wonderful evening was somewhat diminished by uneven food quality, while the salmon tartare was spectacular, the escargot dish was bland & the mussels were very small & flavourless unfortunately. It's a lovely location with great service, just order something else!

Started great with the French onion soup but went downhill from there. Cocktails were average but the duck confit was so dry & chewy was way past overcooked. I wanted to send it back but ended up eating it because the waiter did not check on us for over 30 mins after he dropped the food
My girlfriend got the fish. The fillet was cut in half the thin side was cooked well but the thick side was overcooked & super dry.
When I finally got the attention of a server I mention that the duck was beyond over cooked & I only at it because I was starving. He acted like he was doing me a favour & took off a 9$ beer form the bill.
Ultimately left disappointed with the service & food. This was my only bad restaurant experience on my vacation in Montreal. Kinda ironic had way better French food literally anywhere else in Toronto.
