The server gave us a warm welcome but from there it went downhill.
My filet mignon was charred & tasteless although it was cooked at the right temperature. In the menu it said that every steak came with confit cherry tomatoes & horseradish. When the steaks arrived at our table they were missing both of those components. Our sever told us the horseradish was gratted over the top which we could barely see & asked if we wanted her to bring us the tomatoes on the side. Well for $60+, yes I would like to have all the components I am promised on the menu on my plate. She was nice enough to bring us a few tomatoes & some actual horseradish on the side. However, the cherry tomatoes were not confit, they were barely cooked & my garlic mushrooms lacked garlic.
Next, my mother is lactose intolerant. She wanted to order the salmon but it was made with a cream sauce. They told us everything except for the risotto was easily modifiable. They said the cream sauce could be made without the cream, but the salmon came out with no sauce at all. She asked to replace the brussels sprouts with mushrooms as she has trouble digesting them but her plate came out with brussel sprouts & a few mushrooms over the top. Thankfully when we sent it back it took little time for them to fix the mistake.
The only good part were the drinks & the half cornish hen. We also had the seafood mix for our appetizer, way overpriced but good.
The cooks need to be trained better because when you order $60+ steaks you expect something juicy, perfectly seasoned & not charred. As for the servers, please ask them to look over the food before it is brought out to ensure everything is as it says on the tickets. Again for the price of these plates, the service has to be immaculate.

I've been coming to Sel Noir regularly & it never disappoints. The steaks are consistently on point, perfectly cooked, full of flavour, but honestly the mac & cheese deserves its own mention. Rich, indulgent, & the perfect companion to whatever cut you order. The drink menu is where they really surprise you though, unique cocktails you won't find just anywhere, & they're as well-crafted as the food. Add in attentive service that makes you feel like a regular & a vibe that's moody, lively, & just plain cool, & you've got a spot that's hard not to come back to. If you haven't been, go. If you have, you already know.
Amazing experience! I came with a group of 10 to celebrate a birthday, & everything was on point.The food was delicious - perfectly cooked tomahawk, rich mac & cheese, & amazing truffle fries. Portions were generous, drinks were great too - my amaretto sour was really well made.
Special shoutout to Xavier, who made our night. He explained the menu, gave great recommendations, & made sure we were well taken care of the entire time.

'One of the best steakhouses I've been to. The steak was well-flavoured & cooked perfectly. I usually order my steak well done, & many chefs end up making it too chewy or burnt, but that definitely wasn't the case here. You can tell the chef is a professional. The prices are on the expensive side, but the quality of the meal made it worth it. I really enjoyed my meal.

We had the best night ever for my birthday. We loved the decor & the setting. The food was absolutely amazing. The meat was perfectly cooked & my special fav was the miso fish. The servers were so nice & patient with our big group. 10/10
Great experience ! started with the burrata which was very tasty & the bread that comes with it was very fresh along with the sauce beneath it & the pistachios , & i had the ribeye steak ( medium well ) which was perfectly cooked with a side of mashed potatoes . All in all a great experience & great service from Gabriel . I will come back .
We had the pleasure of dining at Sel & Noir, & it was nothing short of incredible! We ordered the Chef's Plate, a delightful surf-&-turf creation featuring perfectly cooked steak, succulent lobster, & tiger shrimps. The plate was accompanied by loaded baked potatoe, & crispy Parmesan fries-all bursting with flavor & cooked to perfection. Compliments to the chef & the team!!
The Carpacio was another highlight-fresh, exquise, & dressed to perfection. As for the cocktails, they were absolutely delicious & expertly crafted, adding the perfect touch to our meal. Compliments to the bartenders!

I absolutely loved my experience at Sel Noir Steakhouse. Perfectly located in downtown, the chic ambiance is ideal for a date night. My bloody Caesar was spot on, & the service was excellent. The Caesar salad, burrata, & beef tartare were all amazing - everything was just perfect! Highly recommend!
One of the best meal experiences I have ever had! Jasmine was the best with the attentiveness & made the whole evening exceptional! The burrata was delicious...must order like many of the reviews suggest. I shared the surf & turf for 3 people & everything was perfectly cooked & seasoned to perfection! Tender lobster tail, steak cooked to the right temperature & the carrots were yummy! I will we back...one of my top 3 dining experiences for sure!

Sel Noir is hands down one of Montreal's best steakhouses. I've been a few times & what i love the most is how every new experience is enhanced from the previous one. Improvement is of most importance in this industry! I've always been greeted warmly, served perfectly balanced cocktails in a timely manner (if i want a simple cocktail, like a vodka soda, it'll be served in a flash!) & ate tasty food. The portions are also more generous than other places i've been. Drinks🍀 Purple Haze is spring in a drink (& a strong one girlies, if you know what i mean) As an espresso martini aficionado, the Sel Noir is probably my favourite one in the city🍸 & it's hard to miss a Spicy Marg, yet i've lived through that unfortunate event & didn't have a marg for months. never had a bad one here ;) Entrées🍀 my fav "sharing" combo is: Gravlax + Burrata + Caesar Salad + App of the ✨moment✨ Sides🍀 mushrooms + carrots are a must & table fries are a non negotiable! Main🍀 I keep it simple stupid & go for the rib eye, with the cream cheese sauce (!!!) & cajun butter. It's flavourful, buttery, great& simple. Nothing more to add. I definitely recommend Sel Noir !
Great spot with great service & excellent food. Loved the salmon gravlax, in fact all the appetizers were awesome. Steak was perfectly cooked as well. Overall very pleased.
A great Steakhouse, considerably above the keg & others. We had the Surf & Turf, & everything was cooked perfectly. Desserts were great too. Discreet on the outside, amazing, cozy decoration inside.
