chinese(40) fried rice(18) rice(18) sauce(18) chicken(18) beef(16) prix(13) chinatown(12) egg(12) fried(12) soup(11) roll(11)Tous les plats sont excellents! Resto un peu tassé. Personnel ok. On nous a refusé une table avec plateau roulant car nous n'étions pas assez nombreux. Les enfants étaient déçus.
Being Jewish, it is a tradition to go to a Chinese restaurant on Christmas day. So we did the right thing & went to Chinatown & had supper.
We found parking within minutes. We left earlier than usual thinking parking would be tough, but it wasn't. We arrived at the restaurant, & took the last table.
For starters we had Single bowls of Won-Ton soup & the won-tons were firmly stuffed with pork & shrimp. Followed by (not shown) meat filled egg-rolls with Hunan Dumplings.
The main meal was Ginger Lobster, Shrimp with Chinese Broccoli, & Rice sticks with Beef, Green Peppers, & Onions, in Black Bean Sauce.
The restaurant was overloaded so there was a long pause between the starters & mains, but we didn't mind.
Servers were kind & friendly as usual.

Our food was terrible, with the excuse that the kitchen was busy with takeout orders (the restaurant was only half full). Dumplings arrived with the soup so were cold by the time we got to them. They replaced them with dumplings that were barely warm. The garlic shrimp were inedible due to too much salt (excuse: kitchen too busy). We agreed to an easy switch to anything but the shrimp so we pointed to the next table & suggested a meat dish with vegetables. It arrived without all the vegetables! (Waitress shrugged). Never again!
Avec mes chum de Québec c'est notre classique avant un bon match du CH. C'est clairement LE meilleur restaurant chinois de Montréal. Faut essayer le Lo-mein au gingembre & le chow-mein Cantonnais miam!
Last night I took an edible & I had a verrrry specific craving for a nostalgic Canadian-Chinese meal (the ones my family would have only a handful of times a year growing up). The particular criteria for the meal was as follows:
1 - no-frills decor & plastic single-use tablecloths
2 - MSG-filled, glossy coated everything (chicken balls surrounded by a cm of dough, Cantonese chow mein that was crispy & soft at the same time, crunchy umami eggrolls with a sweet plum sauce)
3 - lazy Susans on massive tables for the vibe
4 - fairly empty/not busy, but a good mix of local groups/families & Chinese folks dining in the establishment
& they executed perfectly on every level. No notes.
The reason this place isn't rated higher is because people aren't going in with the right expectations. This isn't a typical Chinese meal, this is the Canadian-Chinese's take. & they do it so well at VIP.
On top of this, the service was awesome, the oranges at the end of the meal was a nice touch, & all in all, it was quite a good price for the insane portion of food they gave us. I'll be eating general Tao beef for the next four days.
Can't wait to come back!
Sa fais des annees que je vais manger ai V.I.P cest mon resto preferer pour cette sorte de bouffe bon service tres bonne portions
Really flavorful & delicious Chinese food. Took a star off cause requested some soy sauce & duck sauce but came with none. Maybe Montreal Chinese doesnt have sauce packets? Would definitely order again
The best & my favourite chinese food in montreal. Truly a hidden gem.
Love their food. Very small & really needs to be renovated. But we never get disappointed. The food is great
I ordered general tsos chicken to go & they gave no white rice!? How does a $20 order not come with rice?? & it's all dark chicken meat. Sauce was good but not having any rice soured the meal. Very disappointed with the money spent here.
