My husband has celiac & he said it was the best bakery he has ever had. I would've never guessed it was gluten free. The staff is very nice & very knowledgeable about the products they serve. Highly recommend!
this place is a gem! Disregard any review that doesn't reflect that :-)
I'm visiting Montreal from New York, where we have pretty good gluten-free/celiac friendly options but we're definitely missing something like this spot. Really reasonable prices, the family that owns it is so friendly, & the quality & variety is awesome. If you're looking for loaf of bread & baguettes or croissants to go, or sit with a coffee & sweet baked treats, this is your spot!
Such an incredible gluten free bakery!!! Their pastries (both sweet & savory) are incredible. Staff are also very sweet. Highly recommend for anyone - celiac or not!
My husband & I are from the states & we come to Montreal at least once a year & love finding new food places to enjoy. I was diagnosed celiac 4yrs ago & the one thing I have not had in those 4 years is a croissant. I love almond croissants & most other desserts & when we found this place we were so excited. To walk in to a bakery & see beautiful pastries & know that they are all gf was one of the greatest feelings. We got a few things to try. The chocolate almond croissant, a turkey & cheese croissant sandwich, the chicken & spinach empanada. Everything was excellent, amazing, out of this world. The texture was more dense than a croissant with regular flour but still had that croissant feel. It was actually more filling & kept me full the rest of the day, whereas a'regular' croissant in the past would've held me over for maybe an hour & then I'd need something of more substance. We bought extra stuff to take home with us (can't wait to try the tiramisu) & will definitely return to this bakery anytime we are in the city. To top it off, one of the owners chatted with us about how they are able to make their desserts gluten & dairy free (which is mind blowing that the croissants didn't use use butter because I could not tell). She was so lovely & kind & wanted to make sure we were enjoying everything. I could have just hung out there & talked all day. Thank you for the kind service & tasty treats!
The owners are so friendly, especially to our little kids. & the baked goods were delicious - they turned my Celiac daughter into a croissant lover. We went every day on our trip.
This bakery was rescued by the amazing new owner who took over several months ago. It has been my go-to gluten-free bakery in Montreal ever since. Whether you haven't been or had last been there before the new ownership, I highly recommend you give it a chance.
They have been offering new baked goods & special desserts, on top of their yummy classics. My favorite being the chocolatine aux amandes. Celiacs, rejoice 🙌 so happy to see this bakery thriving again thanks to the wonderful new admins, who are so warm & welcoming. The kind of local business that deserves all our support.
Best gluten free croissants in Montreal!
I tried croissants from a few bakeries & these are my favourite. I come here from Ottawa & they're worth the trip.
Plain, almond, chocolate, chocolate almond are all delicious! Oh, & there's also three kinds of danish (blueberry, raspberry, lemon), we tried them all, & it's hard to pick a favourite. Very good eclairs & tarts too.
Great gluten free bread & baguettes.
They have lunch options as well, we usually go for croissants, but everything we tried here, is delicious!
Very friendly staff!
I'm a symptomatic celiac, my kids have gluten & dairy allergy, never had any reaction & always feel safe shopping here.
The best gluten-free croissant ever! Unfortunately, I don't live in Montreal, but I'm thinking of moving there just for the croissants. Thank you so much for making such delicious treats for celiacs!
My husband has celiac disease & this was our first stop in Montréal. We're so happy that we found this spot. Amazing customer service - the lady who helped us was very kind. We purchased treats each day that we were there. Before our flight home, we purchased a pack of 6 croissants to take home in our carry-on. The lady who helped us even printed instructions on how to reheat them again ... a sweet gesture. I highly recommend! 🎉
For anyone with celiac disease, a trip to Montreal is worth it even all you do it visit Parc Sans Gluten. I didn't think a perfectly flakey croissant was possible to make gluten free but they proved me wrong.
I'll be missing the raspberry danish until my next trip to Montreal. The eclairs are amazing… simply a wonderful place.
Jenn was incredible, she remembered me after my first stop for breakfast & helped me figure out how to get some pastries home for my mom who is also celiac.
6/5 if I could!
best gluten free coffee shop !! took potato empanada & a danish, both insanely delicious. feels good to be a celiac !!
Delicious gluten free croissants! This bakery delighted our family with Celiac. The owner/Baker was very kind & answered all of our questions. Highly recommended!
Amazing gluten free food everything is gluten free/ celiac safe !!!
I have been gluten free for over 10 years (celiac disease) & this is by far the BEST place i've been in a long time. Best gluten free croissants EVER!!!
My partner is celiac & this is one of the few gluten free places we can go to on the Plateau. Unfortunately, our experience there has gotten worse & worse. Not only is the service far from friendly (the person looks as if they don't like working there at all) but the sandwiches don't contain what's indicated on the label. Instead of peas, carrots & chicken you get a sandwich with chicken & bell pepper only in it. Very DISAPPOINTING, I would even call it false advertising. Another negative point is their communication. We asked them two weeks ago if they have any vacation planned so we could be prepared & go elsewhere. No, they said, nothing planned. Now, they have been closed for two weeks in a row with no sign on the door, no changed hours on Google, nothing. Please, take into consideration that there's people out there who are DEPENDENT on gluten free options & that can't just go to a different place just like that!! Their prices seem to be random as well, no price labels & our sandwich has a different price every time we buy there. En plus, the machine will be held towards you so you can't see the price. If this wasn't literally the only 100% gluten free bakery on the Plateau, we'd look elsewhere, but since it's close to Parc Lafontaine it's a nice stop for a snack in the park.
We were traveling from the United States. My wife is a celiac, strictly gluten-free. So searching around on Google I discovered this charming little patisserie on a corner, across from a beautiful park. But the magic? Everything in this patisserie is gluten-free. I brought my wife, a celiac of 33 years, & she stood in the middle of the bakery looking around at all the incredible treats & kept looking at me asking "Are you serious? Everything is gluten-free " (See photo). & not just breakfast pastries. Yes, there are breakfast croissants & sandwiches. But there are also incredible wraps/burritos for lunch on the go, or to keep in your backpack for later. I'm telling you, as a non-gluten-free person, I took bites of everything that my wife bought & it was some of the most delicious pastry I've ever put in my mouth - & I would never have known that it was gluten free. Ive spent 30 years trying to create baked goods for my wife. How the owner gets these light, airy puffed pastries & croissants is simply beyond me. (Dairy-free options, too!). We ate outside on the patio & I'm telling you when my wife took her first bite of the chocolate filled croissant, she started crying. (See picture). That says it all. Go, enjoy, without worry. It's amazing.
Saw this pastry shop & we had to try as my friend is celiac & it had great reviews! We tried some chocolate croissants & they were absolutely delicious, even better than some regular chocolate croissants I've had before. If it ended there, my review would be 5 stars, but unfortunately the person operating the shop was incredibly rude, as well as our teas were undrinkable! The teabags were completely broken. When I asked for my empanada to be warmed up, he shrugged & took it away, & when I took a bite it was still cold on the inside. This place has so much potential but unfortunately left me with a sour taste in my mouth, not just from my cold empanada.
