I had the chicken melt with a dull potato salad on the side & a raspberry lemonade. All of it was incredible, & I would visit again next time I'm in Montreal!
This cafe is a must try if you are in Old Montreal. The staff were attentive & very kind, the decor was full of character & the food was phenomenal. I highly recommend trying the smashed potato salad. It was very fresh & full of flavour, great choice for anyone who is gluten-free or vegan!
Just had a very tasty lunch with my family at Olive & Gourmando. Cozy atmosphere with relaxing classic reggae playlist (today at least). Loved mu cappuccino & almond croissant. My daughter had mac & cheese & my wife a yummy Asian salad. All were top-notch! I'd highly recommend this spot.
The two of us shared a Cuban sandwich, a smashed potato salad & a green salad. We were both very hungry since we skipped lunch but even after sharing everything, we left very full.
Everything we tried had the chef's touch. It was all cooked to perfection with such wonderful & fresh & unique flavors.
So glad we ate here! I had the grilled cheese & others in my party had salads. All delicious! Service was top notch.
Great spot to go for lunch! The 24hour salad was amazing, so many fun different toppings & herbs that all went really well together & with the Sobu noodles & tofu. The peanuty salad dressing is on the side so you can add as much as you want. Service was great & lots of different styles of indoor seating options.
A very popular place on a Saturday around lunchtime. My wife & I both got the Caesar salad with broccoli & added chicken. I really liked the salad, but there was something on it that my wife did not like at all & we figured out it was dried capers. Once she picked around those, she enjoyed her salad. our daughter had some type of bowl with salad & she really enjoyed it. Overall, a good experience oh yeah, the pastries looked so awesome!
J'ai pris le sandwich cubain & c'était bourré de sel … la salade verte etait bonne, mais pour un repas à 50$ avec tips pour un sandwich & une salade partagée je m'attendais à mieux!
When I stepped into Olive & Gourmando, the first thing I noticed was how cute & cozy it felt. The interior was bursting with colour & the room was full of energy. There was music, friendly chatter, & nearly every table was taken. It was around lunchtime, & the place had that perfect mix of warmth & liveliness. I instantly enjoyed the atmosphere.
When my friend & I got a table, she told me-yet again-how incredible the mac & cheese here was. Apparently, she'd been dreaming of it since her last trip to Montreal. I was curious, but honestly didn't expect much. I've never been the biggest mac & cheese fan. (Also, I loved that the bottom of the menu said,'Eat real food.')
Then our order arrived-& let me tell you, I get it now. I, too, will be dreaming of this mac & cheese. It had such a unique twist: made with gnocchi sardi, mushrooms, breadcrumbs, & a rich truffle tapenade. The pasta had the perfect bite, the breadcrumbs added a special texture, & the truffle flavor took everything to a new level. It was creamy, savory, & completely unforgettable-definitely a one-of-a-kind.
We also shared a smashed potato salad, which was fresh, vibrant, & seasoned beautifully with a variety of herbs & spices. Every bite felt thoughtful.
I walked out a new woman-seriously, it was that good. What I loved most is that they took simple dishes & elevated them into something extraordinary. As a vegetarian, I often see the same types of dishes repeated at restaurants, but Olive & Gourmando really transforms classics into something magical.
I hope to come back the next time I visit Montreal.
Merci beaucoup, Olive & Gourmando.
Food is really average. A chicken sandwich was okay, a salad was bad though. It's also overpriced. More than $80 for 2 non-alcohol drinks & 2 dishes 😱
Stepping into this cozy, modern café felt like a warm embrace & the food was the chefs kiss. I ordered the salted ricotta & butternut squash soup, & it was an unforgettable experience for my taste buds . The Salty ricotta, something I wouldn't typically choose, turned out to be a revelation-creamy & flavorful, & perfectly balanced with the bread & sweet salad mix. Pairing it with the butternut squash soup elevated the meal to one of the best I've had in Montréal. My partner, opted for a double portion of the kids' mac & cheese, (because he doesn't like mushrooms) & it was rich, cheesy, with the perfect amount of crisp. He declared it one of the best mac & cheeses he's ever tasted. I couldn't resist one of their dark chocolate cookies, which was everything a cookie should be: soft, rich, & satisfying. The service was warm & attentive, making the entire experience even more delightful.
Their ricotta salad was so yummy (5/5). The pain au chocolat was a 4/5 & the tea also very good. Prices are really really high: the salad alone was 25 CAD as of 2024 (remainder for the simplistic Europeans, price is without taxes & tip).
Olive & Gourmando in Montreal is a fantastic spot for a casual yet gourmet meal. The cozy, vibrant atmosphere makes it a great place for breakfast or lunch. Their fresh pastries & creative sandwiches are top-notch, with salads such as the salty ricotta & homemade pastries being standout items. The coffee is excellent, & the service is friendly, though it can get busy, so expect a wait during peak hours. Overall, a must-visit for anyone craving high-quality food with a relaxed vibe in Old Montreal.
My husband & I make this a sure stop each time we visit Montreal & each time we go, we are reminded why! The freshness, creativity, & pure deliciousness of their food never disappoints. While some might be sticker shy (it's an incredibly popular area), it's a must try at least once! The Elixir, potato salad, any French toast option, & Cuban panini are all so wonderful. & we are so excited to try some recipes out of the cookbook we purchased on our way out!
Convenient location to eat. Panini was great, salad was dry, lemonade was fine. Salad & toppings were not fresh, you could tell it was from 3-4 days old. Would recommend only if you don't have any option like what happened to us, but very expensive for what you get...
