Our hotel recommended this place for breakfast & there was zero disappointments. I got the ham & cheese on scone & a cinnamon bun. Both were excellent. My wife got the chocolate croissant & it was sub par. There was almost zero chocolate in it & it was cold. We both had Flat White coffees that were excellent.
Google reviews didn't lie when they said that if you're in Montreal, this is one of the must-visit spots in the city.
We tried the famous Cubano sandwich & the grilled cheese with caramelized onions, & both were incredibly satisfying & delicious. These aren't cheap sandwiches for $25 each, but the quality absolutely delivers. The Cubano was packed with flavor, with perfectly balanced fillings & beautifully toasted bread that stayed crisp with every bite.
The grilled cheese was equally memorable. Made with a blend of melted cheeses & sweet caramelized onions, every bite was rich, gooey, & indulgent without feeling overwhelming. Combined with the perfectly crisp, buttery bread, it's the kind of sandwich you'll still be thinking about hours later.
The atmosphere is another reason why this place stands out. It has a charming, bohemian vibe that's both cozy & energetic. It's busy, there's almost always a line, most likely seats needs long wait on the weekends, & after experiencing it firsthand, it's easy to understand why. Btw, I wasn't able to snag a seat so I took it on the road.
& the mocha? Easily one of the best I've had in Montreal. Rich, balanced, & comforting-definitely a standout.
Yes, you'll pay more than you would for an ordinary sandwich, but this is far from an ordinary sandwich shop. The quality, atmosphere, & overall experience make it well worth the visit. If you're in Montreal, do yourself a favor & don't skip this place.
i frequently think of my montreal trip back in 2019, but this is what i think of most. i had the caramelized onion grilled cheese & it was a delight. i hope i get to have it again soon! ;)
Food is good. Service is good. The cuban sandwhich was very good. Only down is the price, 25$ for a panini is on the pricier side, including the grilled cheese.
The potato salad too is very good, again it's on the pricier side but overall the flavors were all very good.
Genuinely the best panini I've ever had in my life. I was hesitating on getting the Cubain since I hate pickled things & cilantro, but it was the perfect little kick of it: not too overwhelming. The cheese & the pork were DELICIOUS & I would fly to Montréal again just to eat this.
Cute & cozy restaurant with A+ food. We ordered two raspberry lemonades for the kids, the french toast, grilled cheese, asian salad & the Egg on Your Face sandwich - all were delicious but the standout was the homemade ketchup that came with the grilled cheese. Outstanding!
A bit disappointed. Grill cheese used to be an experience. Now the filling is still very good but the bread is ordinary. More like a panini bread barely grilled. For 25$, I expect better.
Phil Rosenthal (Somebody Feed Phil) visted here, so it was on our'must visit' list for our trip to Old Montreal.
Food quality & taste were beyond our expectations. Service was excellent. It was very busy when we arrived, but we were told it would only be a 10 minute wait. We sat outside on a bench, & waited to be called.
I admired the ambiance as we were shown to our table. It was full, & noisy, but so much that we couldn't talk to each other. Bonus points for whoever designed the sound system that played 80s music during our visit. Enough speakers to fill the room with sound, & the system didn't need to played loud to be enjoyed.
Coffee was superb. Just the right strength, with lovely notes of chocolate. I had the chicken melt, which was incredible. Real chicken pieces, sauce with a touch of heat, & toppings with just the right amount of savoury. Her panini was equally good. The star of the meal was the french roast. Heated all the way through, with the right balance of fruit, cheese, & syrop.
