It was super busy, but the team handled everything perfectly & found us a great table. The food was amazing, the service was excellent, & the atmosphere was fantastic. We will definitely be back!
This place had been recommended by several people, so naturally it became one of the top spots on a visitor's must-visit list. After finally trying it, I can definitely see why it's so popular.
The atmosphere is warm, busy, & full of energy, which makes it a fun place to start the day. The staff were friendly, welcoming, & attentive without being overbearing. Everything felt well organized even though the restaurant was quite lively. As for the food, it was genuinely delicious. Tex-Mex ( Texan+mexican inspired) breakfast option, & it turned out to be a fantastic choice. You can also have vegetarian option for it.
The flavors were great, the portions were satisfying, & it was exactly the kind of hearty breakfast I was hoping for. Would add extra slides of bread.
One thing to know before going is that they don't take reservations-it's strictly first come, first served. We visited on a Saturday morning with a group of four & ended up waiting around 15 minutes for a table, which honestly wasn't too bad considering how busy it was. There's also a really cute little shop next door, so you can wander around there while waiting & the time passed quickly.
Overall, it's easy to understand why this place is so popular with visitors. If you're in Montreal & looking for a lively breakfast spot, it's definitely worth checking out. Service was quick & efficient, though nothing particularly extraordinary. Still, the great food, friendly staff, & enjoyable atmosphere made the experience very worthwhile.
A lunch well spent at Olive & Gourmando in downtown Montreal on Wednesday; July 1, 2025; which happened to be CANADA DAY. It was a planned school friend's reunion, & it turned out absolutely perfect.
It's easily one of the best brunch/lunch spots in the city. Even when it's busy, the line moves quickly, & the atmosphere is bright, cozy, & full of energy with a lively open-kitchen vibe. The staff are warm, attentive, & efficient, which made our gathering even more enjoyable.
The food was outstanding across the board. The sweet ricotta was a standout, & everything else-from the fresh, well-balanced plates to the ultra-flaky pastries-was packed with flavor. The coffee is top-notch & pairs perfectly with their baked goods. Prices are on the higher side, but fair for the quality & central location. Overall, truly worth the visit & a place I'd happily return to again.
Such a lovely brunch spot in a perfect location in Old Montreal. The menu is simple but still offers plenty of options for different tastes. The sweet ricotta was amazing & definitely a highlight. They also make excellent coffee & pastries, which makes it hard to go wrong with anything you order.
The atmosphere is cozy, the service is kind & attentive, & everything felt welcoming. We were very happy with our experience. They do not take reservations, so it can get quite busy depending on the day, but it is well worth the wait.
A must for brunch in the area of old Montreal! We went on a Monday morning & was super busy! Which is always a great sign! Amazing food & ambiance!
Stopped here for lunch & it was quite busy so we sat on the bar. The pork cubano sandwich was delicious but it was also 30$ for just the panini sandwich.
The cutest corner coffee shop. The staff was very friendly & accommodated English speakers with no problem. I got the sconewich & it was fantastic. Great portion size & absolutely so fresh! The flaky sea salt on top was perfection. Would highly recommend to others! The atmosphere was busy but the warmth of the walls, the open windows & plants all gave a home feeling which was delightful.
No wait for me as a single party on a weekday, although it was extremely crowded & busy. Loved the window seat in the sun. Fast & friendly service! It was a bit overpriced though. I got the'salty ricotta' & I feel like it was definitely not the most impressive item on the menu, but it was good enough I might want to come back to try other items (on my company's dime :P) not sure if I would come here if it was my own money.
Do yourself a favour, if you are in Montreal make the journey to this place.
We were lucky enough to be staying a short walk away & thought we would try it out when we first arrived. It was really busy, which is always a good sign & we had to wait a while for a table. It was certainly worth the wait. The food was top quality, fresh & bursting with flavour. The staff were all friendly, bilingual & attentive. That is quite something when a place is so busy.
There is a good selection of food & drinks so everyone should find something. The pastries & coffee were also great.
This place has a reputation for a reason. It was so good we ended up having brunch here four times!
Olive & Gourmando is an absolute gem in Montreal! The variety of pastries is impressive, & everything we tried was incredibly fresh & flavorful. From buttery croissants to unique sweet & savory options, each bite was a delight.
The ambiance is warm & cozy, making it the perfect spot to enjoy a leisurely breakfast or coffee break. The staff is friendly & welcoming, adding to the overall charm of the café.
It's definitely a busy place, & for good reason-the food & atmosphere are worth the wait. If you're in Montreal & looking for a top-notch café experience, Olive & Gourmando is a must-visit!
Olive & Gourmando in Montreal is a fantastic spot for a casual yet gourmet meal. The cozy, vibrant atmosphere makes it a great place for breakfast or lunch. Their fresh pastries & creative sandwiches are top-notch, with salads such as the salty ricotta & homemade pastries being standout items. The coffee is excellent, & the service is friendly, though it can get busy, so expect a wait during peak hours. Overall, a must-visit for anyone craving high-quality food with a relaxed vibe in Old Montreal.
Food was ok, though overly rich. The waiter seemed annoyed/grumpy & I can get feeling harried as this place is BUSY. The ambiance looks like everything was bought at a Home Sense. There's a sign that says "Eat". Might as well have a "Live Love Laugh" sign while you're at it.
The breakfast was delicious, but the customer service left a lot to be desired. I asked about a lost item, & despite some initial discussion among the staff, I didn't get a clear response until I asked a second time. Even then, they told me their colleague was too busy & that nothing had been found-without making any effort to check. It was an unfortunate experience that overshadowed the otherwise good food.
A landmark of Old Montreal, this restaurant is very busy & serves pastries, sandwiches, & desserts. While I think the pastries are merely nondescript, rhetorical decor is very ambient. Lots of cut little knickknacks to peer at. The place is usually bustling with locals & tourists, usually with a line winding all the way out the door. If you are just taking out, don't follow the line. That's for people with reservations or waiting for a table. There is also a little gift shop next door to it. I mean, if you are in the area & want to check out the buzz, sure come in for a quick bite. But come out of your way? I think there are better bistros in the neighborhood.
Edit: came here again after a year & unfortunately the price is super high for worse quality imo. The drinks are so so, only the cuban sandwich is worth getting. - Recommended by our local friend! The cuban sandwich was by far the best panini ive ever had! The peach scone was also amazing, the place is busy & is a bit pricey though.
A beautiful pastry shop & a very busy spot but worth the wait. Food is great but the place is very small & has cramped seating arrangements.
Beautiful, perfect & delicious salad. As someone who eats a lot of salads & does not like restaurant salads, that means the Deluxe salad is amazing. With tax it is 25$, so it would have to be. The place was very busy even at 3:00pm. The service from Ocean & the rest of the team was excellent. Truthfully, I wanted to try a few more things, but it was pricier than my budget.
This place is so good for breakfast, brunch, lunch, or for having some tea/coffee with some sweets. They get really busy at times, but the service is fast & everyone end up having a great time. We ordered "The Chicken Melt" & "The Cuban". Both were really fresh & delicious. We sat on the high chairs by the window & enjoyed the view of rue Notre Dame while having our lunch.
