Some update. I've visited this place twice-once about two years ago & again last month. The meal was excellent both times, & it's clear the chef is highly skilled. However, I'm not sure I'd return unless it's on the company's dime. Having traveled to Japan many times & experienced a wide variety of authentic cuisine, I feel this restaurant is overpriced for what it offers. Unfortunately, it seems to be a common issue in Canada-getting exceptional Japanese food here often comes with a premium $$$
The service was outstanding. Incredibly professional yet somehow still warm & friendly. The small details of them pulling out your seat for you & assisting you with your jacket didn't go unnoticed. Every single bite was prepared with care & the incorporation of several parts of the fish into the recipes is a beautiful way to support sustainability. The chefs are working on a creative & precise level that is unmatched. Everything was delicious. Will be back for sure !
Incredible experience from the setting to the amazing experience of watching the team work & the food be prepared. The food was unquestionably the best sushi experience in my life so tasty & fresh but also very complex in the Flavor & some surprised me so much. Highly recommend was amazing in everyway. I would add more photos but don't want to ruin the surprise although I'm sure they change there menu & even if u see it you will still be satisfied.
It's a theatrical omakase place & obviously there is some theatrics involved. However that also brings the possibility of having rowdy patrons & that was a deal breaker for us. Food wise there are scopes for improvements, especially at this price point. But there are not many places in Montreal to offer an authentic omakase experience.

Went to Japanese several times. This restaurant is one of the authentic Japanese restaurant in Montreal. Went there some time ago & love it! Worth to go!
Unique experience in Montreal. Yeah it is on the pricey end, but this is not the place where you would go on the regular basis, worth to visit at least once. Especially if you've never had an omakase experience.
Sushi Okeya Kyujiro was an incredible experience. The moment we stepped in, it was as if we were in Japan. The staff were amazing throughout the entire evening. I felt well taken care of. They had extensive knowledge about the omakase chefs & the dishes they served. The food I was served that evening was out of this world. Every bite was created with such care, & I found myself feeling so grateful to be able to experience so many different foods & textures after every service. It was so good that I felt like I could no longer eat box sushi anymore. Overall, I will 100% visit again. I'm excited about the next experience they have in store.
Truly one of the most special meals I have ever had the experience of enjoying. My career has been dedicated food service & hospitality & everyone can take notes from this establishment. From the initial greet & seat, ambiance, show, food presentation, chef preparation & execution, EVERYTHING flawless. They are very thorough in detail on everything. When you make reservations online they let you know the rules. When you enter the building they reiterate. When you're seated it's your final reminder all while being extremely pleasant & warm. If one piece of fish is slightly different from the other chef modifies preparation to ensure taste is identical. I noticed one small slip with a kitchen utensil but it was immediately corrected & they never missed a beat working as a team of three chefs. This place is not just a meal but a life changing experience. Make a reservation for a special occasion. Thank you team Okeya Kyujiro 🙏
