Review Summary

Neotokyo offers an immersive, cyberpunk-inspired dining experience in Montreal that consistently transports guests to a futuristic Tokyo atmosphere. The restaurant is widely praised for its authentic, flavorful ramen, signature brothless mazesoba, and crispy karaage, with many diners highlighting the high quality and fresh texture of the noodles. While the decor and overall vibe are frequently described as unique and memorable, some patrons note that the space can become quite loud and busy, occasionally leading to long wait times. Most visitors commend the friendly, efficient service and appreciate the diverse menu, though opinions vary slightly on the saltiness of certain dishes and the pricing of specific items. Overall, it is considered a must-visit destination for ramen lovers seeking a stylish, energetic, and delicious meal in a one-of-a-kind setting.

Visiting Montreal for work, I was excited to try this place for lunch. The menu item I ordered'Hakata Kaizoku' sounded great, & I ordered an extra egg with it.
I don't even know if it's what I received - it just tasted (& looked) like minced garlic broth with noodles. & exactly 0 eggs.
I really, really wanted to like it.

10/10 experience - high quality food & service

Overall we had such an amazing experience. The waiter was kind & offered suggestions to add to our drinks order, as my partner likes yuzu. I got the H20 & loved the taste of Sake & Mezcal.

The ramen I had was a rich, fatty & salty broth with amazing taste & fresh noodles. Definitely delicious but if you're looking for a healthy option try the Miso!

My partner had their signature mazesoba & it was AMAZING with fresh herbs & meat.

For this price point in this neighbourhood I'd highly recommend it. 10/10 value too.

The brothless ramen with beef & raw egg yolk on top was perfection!! Typically I would go for ramen with broth but decided to switch it up & I'm sooooo glad I did!

Yummy restaurant for ramen.

I ordered a brothless ramen, I believe it was the NeoTokyo Mazesoba, it was a bit salty but still delicious. Everything mixed in well together even though it was brothless. Came with a mini rice too!

The other ramen we ordered was the Tokyo ramen, rich & creamy broth, lots of umami & the noodles are fresh.

Also ordered the corn ice cream, nice & sweet.

I have been to Japan, Korea, Vancouver, Toronto & New York. I had some great ramen in Vancouver & Toronto. Neotokyo has good atmosphere, service is very slow. For food, appetizers are pretty good, but ramen broth is too salty.

I tried both the broth ramen & the dry ramen (both were delicious), with very generous portions & outstanding flavor. The appetizers were also very good, & they came with a mustard/mayo-style sauce that was incredibly tasty. The service was attentive & quick, which made the experience even better. 100% recommended. The only detail is that it is not very suitable for large groups, so it's best to go as a couple or in a small group.

Service was great & the decor was fun. The ramen had perfectly cooked noodles & a flavorful broth, though the pork chashu was a little too fatty. The ice cream was excellent!

Visited during a recent trip to Montreal while in the downtown area. The restaurant atmosphere is a futuristic vibe with Japanese influences throughout the restaurant. They are better known for their ramen & mazemen (brothless ramen) dishes, as well as various Japanese inspired side dishes. Their best known mazemen bowl which is their Neotokyo Extra which comes with added chashu, an ajitama egg on top of their regular Neotokyo Mazemen bowl. It is a sizeable portion for one especially since it comes with an added bowl of rice to clean up the leftover sauce used for the mazemen. The flavours all mix very well & is a unique way of eating ramen as a whole. Overall, a decent spot for Japanese ramen & for an izakaya-like experience. Service was generally very friendly while I was there & my order came at a reasonable time despite the packed atmosphere. Recommended to come earlier to avoid the peak evening dinner time as there can be a bit of a wait.
