Restaurant Veranda is widely regarded as a standout destination in Old Montreal, offering a sophisticated and authentic Indian dining experience. Guests consistently praise the flavorful, high-quality dishes, with frequent mentions of the rich dal makhani, perfectly seasoned butter chicken, and fresh, soft naan. The atmosphere is described as beautiful, elegant, and cozy, featuring a lovely outdoor terrace that provides a memorable setting for both casual dates and special celebrations. While some note that the menu is curated and the pricing reflects its upscale nature, the overall consensus highlights attentive, friendly service and creative fusion presentations that leave a lasting impression. Many diners express a strong desire to return, solidifying the restaurant's reputation as a must-visit spot for those seeking elevated Indian cuisine in the city.
I was a little skeptical about ordering, since I had never been impressed with any Indian cuisine before.
I ordered via Uber & waited about an hour due to the distance, which is acceptable. Although it was delivered, I thought the presentation was quite fair. Amazingly, when my meal arrived, it was still warm.
The butter chicken is truly delectable. It is very tasty, the chicken is soft, juicy, & not dry. It is like comfort food; it literally melts in your mouth, leaving you wanting more.
I highly recommend naan garlic to all fellow garlic enthusiasts, just like me. The aroma is powerful & delicious. The consistency is incredibly tender, delicate & easy to tear, yet not overly thick. Its delicate texture complements the main course perfectly.
The samosa tart had an intriguing flavour profile. Each bite began with a sweet flavour, only to be followed by a refreshing yogurt taste. The vegetables are not overcooked, which is a positive aspect.
The gulab jamun profiteroles were truly delicious. They were creamy & not overly sweet, providing just the right balance.
I would like to commend Chef Jernail for his exceptional culinary skills & delectable dishes.
It's a real treat to come across a chef who truly excels in the art of cooking.
One of the best meals I've ever had! The food was amazing. Our waitress, Durga, was incredibly friendly, attentive, & quick. She provided some of the best service I've ever experienced. Shubham & Mary Jane was also fantastic & made our visit even more enjoyable. Highly recommend!
We had a large takeout order that included lamb, chicken & vegetarian dishes & a few Golub Jamun. The main dishes were comparable in taste & portion size although prices were much higher compared to other local Indian restaurants. The most outrageous one was Golub Jamun for which we were charged $20 apiece which typically costs about $5 to $7 at most restaurants. The restaurant is located at an excellent area & the overall atmosphere is great.
I am way overdue on a review of this restaurant. My family & I were in Montreal at the end of July. We stayed in the same building where this restaurant is located. After a busy day touring the Saint Helen island & coming back later than anticipated, we stopped by this restaurant for dinner. Honestly, I thought we would get turned away because we arrived by 9:00pm & the red was meant to close at 10:00pm. Luckily, they were kind enough to allow us in & they very politely informed us the kitchen would close at 9:15pm. We put in our orders quickly & are food came out after a short wait. We were blown away by the quality of the food. From the presentation to the aunthentic flavors, this is probably the best Indian food we ever had. It was my daughter's first time & she is rather picky, but she loved her dish & for the first time in a while she ate the entire dish. Everyone was wonderful & we were extremely thankful for not being turned away. If I'm ever back in Montreal, this restaurant will be first on my list. Thank you to the wonderful staff that didn't make us feel like an inconvenience.
?'What an absolute treasure to find on our last day! This was easily the culinary highlight of our trip. The dishes were full of incredible flavor & aroma, & the presentation was beautiful. Huge thanks to Lina for her exceptional service & to Mohit, the manager, for being so attentive & friendly. We couldn't have asked for a better final meal!'
