So much so, that in the week I was in Montreal, I had this place twice. Things I tried that were amazing, in my opinion: Lamb Rogan Josh, butter chicken, lamb vindaloo & the garlic naan. This was a highlight of my first time in Montreal & I would definitely visit again if I'm there again!
Fantastic inventive Indian cuisine. Beautiful ambience in the old port. Very creative drinks & dishes. Our waiter was very helpful & explained some of the dishes we never tried & made recommendations. Highly recommended.
As Indian I really like this place & food. As well as Service is on top notch.
Really enjoyed the food & the fine-dining ambiance. The restaurant is big & well laid out. However, the menu-especially the starters-is limited, & there's no paneer tikka. When we asked for spicy food, they just added a lot of black pepper, which made the dish extremely spicy, but not in the traditional Indian way
Verandah is a beautiful restaurant with an outstanding atmosphere & truly top-notch service. The staff is attentive, polite, & professional, & the ambience is elegant & relaxing-definitely one of the highlights of the experience.
The food is good overall, but it feels more blended & toned down compared to traditional Indian cuisine. The dishes lack the bold, authentic masala flavors one would normally expect from Indian food. If the restaurant advertised itself as Indo-Western or fusion cuisine, this approach would make more sense & set the right expectations.
That said, the quality, presentation, & consistency are still solid, which is why I'd rate the food 4 stars. For atmosphere & service, however, it's an easy 5 stars. A great place for a refined dining experience-especially if you enjoy milder, modern interpretations of Indian flavors.
We visited this Indian restaurant last night & overall had a great experience. The food was delicious , we ordered dal makhni & some breads, which were excellent. The chicken dish was a bit on the spicier side for us, so we couldn't fully enjoy it, but that's more of a personal spice tolerance.
The service was warm, attentive, & genuinely appreciated.
Just a small suggestion for the owner: the downstairs washrooms could use a bit more attention. The garbage bin was full with napkins spilling onto the floor, & the floor was quite wet without a visible wet-floor sign, which could be a slipping hazard. Regular washroom checks would really help.
Being from the same industry, I understand how important these details are. That said, it was still a very positive experience.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5-star rating , we'll definitely be back & will happily spread the word to support the restaurant.
A very pleasant surprise. This restaurant is a gem - service is amazing, polite & warm staff - you feel at home. Food is wonderful - fresh, flavourful & really on a higher level than the usual Indian restaurant you would find in Montreal. The atmosphere is great too, clean place, decor & great neighbord
Beautiful establishment despite some tacky plastic leis hanging all over. The restaurant was completely empty when we arrived (2 other couples showed up later), so we were seated at a front window. Unfortunately our view on this romantic snowy night was a giant pile of black garbage bags. The cocktails were basic, & not great. Tasty naan, but we weren't wowed by the food. We ordered the shrimp entree, palak burrata, rara chicken, veggie rice, & garlic naan. Not the elevated Indian food that we were expecting from the photos viewed online.
Great atmosphere, very comfortable. Service was welcoming, friendly & amazing.
The food... I'm not sure where to start. Absolutely phenomenal - very easily the best Indian food I have ever had.
We will 100% be making this our go to restaurant when we are in Montreal.
First time coming here & was amazed by the quality of care from the staff & how attentive they were!
If you never tired Indian cuisine , this restaurant is the perfect introduction to how good Indian is & cooked.
Worth trying the'MTL à la table' to try a bunch of each section of dishes
Rating 5/5 for everything, will definitely be going back
Decor was had a perfect color blend.
Nice food, atmosphere & service. Good Indian food & a very pleasant interior. Recommend place.
One of the finest Indian restaurants I've been to in Canada! We went there for dinner & ordered the Dahi Poori, Martaban ka Paneer, butter roti, & garlic naan - each dish was freshly made, full of flavor, & perfectly balanced. The paneer was tender, & the gravy had a rich, authentic taste. For dessert, we tried the Gulab Jamun Profiteroles - an innovative & delightful fusion creation.
We also got to speak with the chef, who was extremely kind & clearly passionate about his craft. It was refreshing to meet someone so committed to quality & authenticity in every dish.
One of the best Indian restaurants I've tried in Canada so far. We went there for dinner.. had Dahi poori,'Martaban ka paneer', butter roti & garlic naan - all of them were well prepared, fresh & very tasty. Paneer was soft & the gravy was flavourful. We also had the Gulab jamun profitroles - a little sweet for my taste, but all in all it was a great fusion dessert. Icing on the case was Mr. Mohit - he was very hospitable & helpful. Great ambience as well, will visit again for sure.
We had such a wonderful experience at this Indian restaurant in Montreal! The food was more than amazing - full of rich flavors & perfectly prepared. We ordered the Poulet Tikka Malai, Naan, & Agneau Rogan Josh, & every dish was absolutely delicious.
Our server, Anna, was so nice & friendly, which made the evening even better. Being very familiar with Indian cuisine, we can truly say this meal was outstanding & authentic. A lovely dining experience that we highly recommend!
I had only one night in Montreal & couldn't imagine a better dining experience! Restaurant Veranda had a cozy & inviting atmosphere & a delicious assortment of Indian dishes. I tried the pani puri & the butter chicken & it was some of the best I've had. The service was also wonderful- Lena was so attentive & Mohit made me feel like family while dining alone! A must visit if you're in the area!
Really nice Indian Restaurant. Decor is super nice. Menu is limited (compared to a UK Indian) but what they do serve is really good quality. Recommended.
The ambiance of the restaurant was welcoming with the warmth of fragrant Indian spices. Our server Jaina provided wonderful main course & dessert recommendations. It was a very enjoyable dinner experience.
Thank you Veranda.
Perfect in every aspect - flavors, spice blends & presentation were amazing. Best Indian meal experience. The basmati rice, naan & our main chicken dishes were absolutely delicious. The staff is attentive & pleasant. A wonderful find & a definite repeat.
