The nigiri omakase at lunch was exquisite, the rice was perfect & each fish had a different flavor profile. The highlight for me was the soft shell crab dish, it was excellent, especially the little dabs of lemon/lime gel, blending everything perfectly with the sauce & tying the dish together harmoniously. The restaurant is led by chef-owner GaCong Ruan, who grew up in the restaurant industry, & executive chef Michael Ho, a finalist from'Les Chefs!'. We were lucky to be greeted by them both today! Perfect for special occasions, business dinners or just a quick lunch or late evening craving for high quality sushi... this is the hot spot to go to.
Absolutely incredible experience. I'm not easily impressed with sushi restaurants, however this completely exceeded my expectations. Food was delicious & intricate. Chef & owner served us omakase & was so knowledgeable & friendly. Highly recommended place.
If you've ever wondered what it's like to ascend to sushi nirvana, look no further than Chef GaCong's omakase experience in Montreal. I went in expecting a fancy dinner, but I walked out questioning everything I thought I knew about food, art, & frankly, life itself. From the first dish, it became clear that this wasn't just dinner-it was performance art. GaCong doesn't just prepare sushi; he crafts edible masterpieces with the precision of a neurosurgeon & the flair of a Broadway director. The presentation was so immaculate that I hesitated to eat it, half out of respect & half because I didn't want to ruin the Picasso before me. Every bite was an existential crisis. The kind of flavors that make you reevaluate your childhood memories of eating supermarket sushi. & then there's GaCong himself. A man of infinite skill, he runs the sushi bar like a virtuoso conductor leading a symphony of flavors. GaCong is also a great host with plenty of wonderful tips about Montreal & hockey! This guy isn't just a chef; he's a culinary prophet. Sure, it comes with a hefty price tag, but let's be real-can you really put a price on a spiritual awakening? My only regret is that I'll never experience this meal for the first time again. Chef GaCong, please remember me when you're world-famous.
the flavour pairings were amazing. the egg yolk gel & tuna pairing in the monaka wafer were such simple, classic flavours elevated into something beautiful & complex. the dry aged fish & the aged soy sauce used in some dishes are a beautiful twist. the rice is warm, sticky & full of flavour, i deeply enjoyed it. the botan ebi is rare & always a pleasure to have. they pair it with this in house chili crisp that has TONS of flavour. the wagyu & brioche dish was the least memorable. it was good, but it cant compete with the sushi courses. two extremely stand out dishes would be the sweet, salty, sour dish of tomato sorbet as a palette cleaner & also the dessert of ice cream made of sake kasu. service was rlly good. the whole place is very beautiful inside
Effervescent energy for my Omakase sushi experience by chef GaCong. Very intimate experience at the bar, amazing service with a smile from the host, waiter & chef. Superb selection of fish, great pacing & the Japanese & French fusion produce an elevated experience. My stand out dishes were the salmon tartare, akami with Osetra caviar, Suzuki, monads & the sake kasu dessert is a unique experience. It was distinguished experience meeting the team & the chefs, even got to meet executive chef Michael Ho!
This place is exceptional, I was impressed by the warm welcome from the entrance while glazing the sushi bar 👌🏽. After settling , i had unlimited shushi & great varieties of culinary infusions. Music was great , Ambience was in the mood , giving House vibe with mushi sushi paired with french white wine. Same music played everywhere even in the Restroom 😍
Definitely a must try. They have an amazing staff. Quick service & delicious. You can make a reservation for the Omakase experience & try new things curated by Chef Gacong. Enough of all you can eat sushi. Go try Nama. I had a great time there.
