I had a phenomenal experience eating there. The duck was my personal favourite; it wasn't too overwhelming on the palate & nicely paired with the raspberry sauce. The rice pudding was also very enjoyable. The taste profile was very subtle, but equally good. The texture on it was on point! The waiters made the experience even better, offering a very welcoming atmosphere to the customers. Every dishes were thoroughly explained & gave a nice insight on the source of the ingredients. Would highly recommend. Also the espresso martini, chefs kiss.

We were a group of 6 & had the $170 omakase course, & the experience was amazing from start to finish. The restaurant has a really nice, chill vibe with great music played at the perfect volume so we could actually have a conversation. Our waiter Felix & the manager Titouan were extremely nice & took the time to explain every dish & the optimal way to eat each one. Following their recommendation, we tried the TENMEI Junmai Hiire Orange Label sake, which had a very crisp taste & was incredibly smooth to sip on throughout the entire meal. Among the various dishes we were served, there were a few major highlights: the beef tartare was excellent on its own, but I highly recommend putting all the sides provided on the plate into the seaweed sheet for an unbelievable combination. The eggplant katsu was also delicious, especially when eaten simultaneously with the salad. We were served four different types of nigiri that were all unique in flavor & absolutely delicious. To top it all off, I had an espresso martini at the end of the course which went very well with the dessert. It was a fantastic meal with top-tier service.

We took the 100$ omakase menu for 2 people, & we were quite disappointed by it. The dishes were good (the eggplant was amazing), but the fish had nothing special & was pretty tasteless.
We were told that the difference between the 100$ & 135$ menu was the makis so we were fine not to have them. However the portions were pretty small & we were also quite surprised that for this price we had to share one & only one main dish. We ended up finishing the course hungry & ordering the makis on the side (36$ for 6 makis, I would advise you to not take them because they were not worth it).

On the other side the service was exceptional! We were well taken care of!!
Restaurant was pretty noisy, & you could have participated in the discussion of the table behind us.

Overall the food was good, but the quality & the quantities are absolutely not justifying the price.

We dined at Nama Omakase with high expectations, given its positioning as an upscale omakase restaurant. Unfortunately, the experience fell short in several important ways, especially at this price point.

During the meal, we encountered a bone in the Nama Maki ($55 before tax). In a restaurant of this caliber, proper fish preparation is non-negotiable. This is not a minor oversight but a fundamental error that raises concerns about quality control & attention to detail.

What was more disappointing was how this was handled. When we informed the waitress clearing our plates, she responded that she would let the chef know, but no one followed up with us afterward. There was no acknowledgment, apology, or attempt to address the issue during the meal. Later, when another server asked about our experience while we were paying, we raised it again & were simply thanked for the feedback, again, with no real ownership or resolution.

We had also noted in our reservation that we were celebrating my husband's birthday, but this was completely overlooked. We had to remind the staff ourselves near the end of the meal, which defeats the purpose of providing that information in advance. For a restaurant that emphasizes experience, this lack of attentiveness is disappointing. (I now noticed this has happened to many other diners who shared their disappointment in their review)

In terms of the food, while some dishes showed creativity, there were inconsistencies. For example, one piece of the duck was noticeably tough & difficult to chew, lacking the tenderness expected from a properly prepared dish, especially in a fine dining setting.

To add to this, we discovered that an 18% gratuity was automatically applied because part of the bill was paid using a gift card. This was not disclosed anywhere on the Costco purchase page, nor was it communicated by the restaurant beforehand. While we would have willingly tipped 20% for good service, imposing a gratuity without transparency, especially tied to the method of payment, is not acceptable.

We paid $525.25 for two adults (without drinks). At this level, guests expect not just excellent food, but polished service, consistency, & accountability when things go wrong. While the restaurant shows potential, the overall experience was undermined by these lapses.

For a premium omakase restaurant, both execution & service need to be held to a much higher standard.

P/S: The first dish of Hokkaido Scallops was exquisite IMHO.

First time we go there & will not be the last time for sure. The service, the food, the music, decor everything was just on point. We kept ordering & ordering food because the dishes felt light & fresh & creative . We loved our experience there !!

I can't even begin to state how delicious the meals at Nama were. So thoughtfully curated, so well presented & incredibly tasty!

We decided on the 135$ set course meal & we received 10 items in total, & I couldn't tell you what our favorite dish was as everything was delicious! The set menu came with generous portions of a carpaccio, a scallop/endive dish, a squash/stracciatella dish, a fried eggplant katsu, a roasted brusselsprout dish, 4 types of nigiri, 2 types of makis, a duck/foie gras main & 2 desserts. If you ever go, everything we had was so delicious so you truly cannot go wrong with anything you select, but I HIGHLY recommend trying the eggplant (one of the best eggplants dishes I've ever had) & the sake dessert!!!

Now, for those of us who enjoy ambiance & finish selections at restaurants, what a truly gorgeous experience it was to eat at Nama. From the beginning of the night, you are greeted with such class & such service that just further built the ambiance to a luxurious level for us. Our waiter was intentional, detail oriented & though we went on Valentine's Day weekend & they were very busy, we never felt forgotten. The space is so beautifully designed which only enhanced our experience.

Overall, you can tell that a lot of love goes into every aspect of this restaurant - from the food, to the experience they deliver to their guests, & the way it was designed & thought out. It wasn't transactional & we were so well taken care of. If you're ever looking to splurge on dinner, this is the place to do it.

What an amazing experience! From the greeting at the door to the last course. Every little detail was well thought out. We opted for the omakase & every course was well curated. We came expecting the fish to be the stand out. But to our surprise, the vegetable dishes blew our minds! You have to try the eggplant katsu & the stracciatella squash! We can't wait to come back with our friends & try the rest of the menu!

I had one of the best dining experiences at Nama! Gacong & his team are incredibly talented & creative with their dishes. I've experienced Gacong's omakase before, & it somehow gets better every single time. The attention to detail is unmatched, & each bite truly feels like an experience in itself. I couldn't stop saying'mmm' after every course. I already can't wait to go back! 😋✨

Wonderful omakase experience. Fusion omakase with complex flavors & variety of fish, wagyu, duck…chef takes great pride in his dishes. Very tasty rice!

Excellent attentive service & great cocktails! We will be back for sure.

This place was WAY overpriced. We spent $600 CA for two omakase & two drinks & only 10 out of the 16 dishes actually contained fish of some kind. Truly you could drive to NYC & get a better omakase experience for half the price. Do not spend the time or money to go here - while the sushi chef was nice, my girlfriend & I were very disappointed in the total experience.

We attended for dinner last Friday night & absolutely loved our food. The dishes were nothing short of amazing - the most memorable were the eggplant katsu, the tartares & crudo, & the Brussels sprouts. We're not big veggie eaters but even in our opinion you must try those as those are the best brussel sprouts & eggplant we've ever eaten. Ordered the $170 menu & both of us were so full - they are generous in their portions. Also loved their desserts - absolutely decadent & luxurious. Where I think improvement could be would be the service. The prices & food are aligned to fine dining but the service was not. We'd ask for things & our server would always forget. She also lacked basic knowledge on the menu (ie. didn't know what kind of fish was in some of the nigiri's, didn't know what ingredients were used in some of the items, didn't know how some items were prepared). Also noted that our Foie gras was overcooked & the answer was'it's possible'. Aside from that, the ambience was really nice. The dishes here are super unique & well prepared so we'll definitely come back.

We were 2 doing the omasake experience. Everything was so tasty & well balanced, & the chef ga kong was amazing at creating & presenting all these dishes. The entire staff was super nice. Would recommend for sure!

This was my fourth time at Nama Omakase, & Chef Gacong never disappoints. He always pays great attention to detail, making sure every guest feels welcome & leaves completely satisfied. My most recent visit was for a farewell dinner. We chose the 5-course menu at $135. Some of my friends & family were worried they might still be hungry afterward, but by the end, they were absolutely full & they really loved the entire experience, from the rich flavors to the beautiful presentation. The Japanese-French fusion is truly the highlight, blending elegance with creativity. The cocktails are fresh & tasty, perfectly complementing the dishes.

The ambiance is modern & beautiful, & the service is excellent. The staff took the time to explain each dish, which made the experience even more special. Every bite was a true delicacy. Highly recommended! 😁

$135 PP Omakase menu (for two). Great service. Food was hit or miss for us. Lovely experience overall.

Overall impression: Impeccable service from our waiter. Beautiful dessert plating. Too many'pre-packaged'-tasting flavors & disjointed elements to recommend the cooked dishes as standalone. Sushi omakase could still be good.

5 course omakase breakdown:

First course: Beef tartare & red snapper- primary ingredients were both fresh. Tartare had a touch too much sesame oil & felt a bit greasy but still enjoyable. Red snapper was perfectly good. Pickled mushrooms etc. tastes exactly as what you'd get at any other spot. The Lychee(?) had an overwhelmingly synthetic taste. Couldn't help but feel that some elements come commercially prepackaged.

Second course: Eggplant katsu with salad, swordfish on daikon. Great textures in the eggplant with high quality ingredients. Swordfish was a little dry, but fine with the sauce.

Third course: Sushi course. Received red snapper again, & it turned out to be the freshest of the fish in the sushi row. We would have preferred a bit more vinegar in the rice with a little bit more wasabi. Maki was made beautifully, with great balance of flavors, & the fish on top was perfection. While the sushi was subpar, the maki was the highlight of our meal

Fourth course: Short rib & brussels sprouts. Good, familiar flavors. Brussels sprouts were greasy but otherwise cooked perfectly. Short rib a bit dry with a'spice package' tasting sauce.

Fifth course: sake-infused ice cream with rice pudding & orange crisps; gin(?) infused ice cream with cake & what tasted like waffle cone crumbles. Gorgeous plating, both hits & misses (orange crisp = perfect. cake = slightly stale, rice pudding = disjointed, ice creams = delightful)

Bottom line: Good experience. Would not go for the cooked dishes at this price point. Higher end sushi omakase might still be worthwhile if the maki is an indication of freshness & execution with that specific experience.

Nama absolutely checks all my boxes when it comes to dining out. Apart from the 5 stars I'm giving in food/service/atmosphere, they get 5 stars in friendliness, staff knowledgeability, & creativity.

I dined twice, once for the full omakase experience & once with a group of friends à la carte. Both times everything was top notch. Chef-owner GaCong is a gem! A true connoisseur of his craft & his dishes are works of art. He takes his flavours & plating very seriously while maintaining a friendly atmosphere & brightens up the room with his little jokes & smile.

I don't review often, but this is one review I had to leave as I was blown away both times I came here.

The omakase experience is fantastic, ditto for the à la carte menu.

As for selective notes, the salmon tartare is probably the best I've ever had (found both in the omakase & normal menu!), the beef shortrib galbi-jjim was soooo yummy & melted in your mouth, + I've tried about 5 different cocktails & all of them are great.

Trust me, if you want to impress someone, bring them here. They will be left speechless.

The 16 course meal was a culinary experience of the palate! Nama has 3 parts which make it exceptional… first is the chef/owner Gacong who is knowledgeable, personable, kind & absolutely witty. He is the main player in this well rounded evening. Second is the atmosphere, it's aesthetically beautiful while remaining inviting, it's fresh & upbeat while still feeling intimate. & lastly, the pièce de resistance… the food! From the well curated ingredients & the chefs ingenious pairings, each bite was a moment in time that you can't get back. It always left you wanting more! As he served up his creations one after the other, you were left wondering how each bite was better than the last. We did try two main dishes as well, the crab & eggplant katsu which were cooked to perfection & aesthetically pleasing to the eye. & let's not forget the cocktails, we tried 5 different ones, each were devine in their own right & had a unique & sultry taste. Overall, the evening was perfect in every sense of the word. If you haven't tried Nama, not sure what you're waiting for. It is well worth every penny!! Kudos to the chef 10/10

Great experience!! Delicious flavours! Just a heads up - a few of those courses are just nigiri - granted, the most creative & delicate nigiri that I have had in Montreal, but for those who enjoy bigger meals, I wouldn't come hungry😂. But honestly, some of my favorite courses of this omakase were the nigiris! I loved how they incorporated all the familiar flavours (eg. Ume, yuzu, gochugaru etc) into a new dish while not overpowering the fish itself. & their trou normand (salted cucumber granita) was out of this world. I am a super fan of sweet & salty so all the sweet dishes really spoke to me. & the service was great! Very attentive & well orchestrated while maintaining a super chill & warm vibe. Honestly, a great experience! Bravo, Nama!

There's a very popular Omakase restaurant in Montreal & I always found it a shame that we didn't have more of those experiences. A friend of mine told me about Nama having an Omakase experience & I had to check it out. I'm glad to say that everything about it was fantastic. It's a little more "fusion" then pure Japanese cuisine, but all the meals were great. I highly suggest trying it out if you love trying course style dinner experiences. If you just want a regular dining experience, there's tables & a menu for that as well. A couple of small nitpicks compared to the other Omakase restaurant in MTL: they had us wait before being seated despite us arriving on time, they didn't offer to take our jackets (which can add a little touch of extra service) & they mentioned a cocktail menu, but we never saw/received it. That being said, I want to give a HUGE shoutout to the chef & his team as at the very last minute, I found out that my date was allergic to wheat flour (similar to having to avoid gluten, but she was ok with soya sauce for instance) & initially the waiter said she couldn't get the Omakase & could only eat 2-3 meals in the regular menu. The chef then personally came to our seats to discuss in detail about her allergies & luckily she could take the Omakase thanks to the cuisine substituting 3 dishes just for her. Thank you again Nama for the wonderful dinner & I'll be sure to come back again!

This was an incredibly different culinary experience from your traditional omakase. Chef GaCong made our experience one of a kind. Not only did he present us with fabulous dishes, but his love of what he does was easy to see when he shared his dishes with you. The cocktails, & service from the staff was immaculate. Do yourself a favour & try the yuzu sour! If you're looking for an unforgettable experience, then Nama Omakase is a must!
