Modavie is a timeless place that brings us back to our roots, where ladies & gents gather and eat in a lively atmosphere caused by great conversation, live music and the wooden scents of a vintage room. Born in 1997, it quickly became popular among locals & visitors, and is now considered a Montreal institution.
Treat yourself to refined French fare in an antique & dimmed corner locale spawning two floors. From the classic beef tartare, to tasty sweetbread, to the famous ratatouille, your cravings will be easily satiated.
Modavie comes across as a warm, lively French bistro in Old Montreal with inviting lighting, timeless charm and nightly live jazz. Reviewers consistently highlight friendly, attentive service and a welcoming staff that makes celebrations feel special. The menu features crowd pleasers like duck confit, rack of lamb and lamb chops, escargots, onion soup and mussels with fries, with many dishes praised for bold flavors and generous portions. The atmosphere blends old world charm with modern warmth, and the two level space with live music creates a vibrant yet conversation friendly setting. While busy nights can bring a bit of hustle and occasional slower pacing, the overall experience is described as memorable and well worth returning for.
À recommander ! Le lieux est bien décoré, le service de Christian & Nicolaï était excellent, les escargots valent la peine, les cavatellis à l'agneau étaient délicieux.
Great place to eat ,atmosphere has good vibes & Lorenzo was a pleasure to meet with my sisters. He had a great sense of humour. Thank you for being a highlight to our first visit in Montreal. We will definitely be back 😊 I got the lamb cavatelli it was so delicious.
Live band for brunch which is great. Service is great, & they accommodate group reservations. Only reason for 4 stars is the cost- don't know if the food justifies the cost. But overall great atmosphere & a nice place to take a break from roaming around the old port.
Amazing food selection & the meals are delicious! Service is attentionate despite being busy, my partner's water often goes empty since he drinks a lot, but it was never empty at Modavie!!
Came here for dinner expecting a great experience as per previous reviews but was left disappointed. Food was pretty bland & could absolutely use more flavour. Atmosphere was nice, the place is pretty, & the live music was a lovely touch. Service was fine, nothing outstanding. Seats are not comfortable & the tables are quote small
Very sub par. We were extremely excited to come here based on other reviews but we were disappointed. The tables were crammed in so tight & seat so uncomfortable, waiters pushing by every few seconds. The food was very bland. Not bad but not good. Service was poor, disappointed!

We had a great time on a Saturday night with live music & flavorful food! George took care of us & helped us out with some really good recommendations. Would highly recommend!
Excellente expérience hier soir avec notre groupe d'affaire de 10 personne. Notre serveur Patrice a été serviable, dynamique & accueillant. Nous avons tous aimé nos repas & le vin.
Amazing food, service & ambiance. We had the snails followed by the lamb chops & mushroom risotto. Everything was delicious. Creme brûlée for dessert was also amazing. Cocktails were great, mirage was delicious - only critique would be that they could offer more wines by the glass. But the ones offered were enough to pair with the meal.

Nestled in the heart of Old Port, Modavie stands out as a culinary beacon, even if you have to navigate through some construction to get there. The diverse menu caters to a variety of tastes, ensuring there's something for everyone. I had the pleasure of trying the Lamb Cavatelli, & it was a delightful fusion of tender lamb & perfectly cooked pasta that danced on my palate. The live music added an extra layer of charm to the experience, enhancing the already cozy ambiance. It's not just about the food at Modavie; it's about the entire experience. The service was impeccable - attentive & timely, without being intrusive. It's clear that Modavie values its customers & understands the essence of hospitality. Whether you're a local or just passing through, Modavie is a must-visit spot in Montreal's Old Port. Don't let a little construction keep you from this fantastic dining experience! :P
Friendly stuff. We arrived & they told us the kitchen closes in 30 minutes. Food came promptly & delicious. Crème brûlée had a crunchy top & sweet no stinky egg smell. Fois a gras was whole not past. Lamb chops were tender & well seasoned. They had live jazz but it was over when we got there. Parking is difficult at this time because the city has the whole street dug up even Uber couldn't drop us in front of the door. we had to walk then change sidewalks so we weren't sure if it's open or not but we got closer we saw like a bridge over construction to get to the door.
