Taken together, reviews depict Lattuca Barbecue as a standout Texas style smokehouse in Montreal with generous portions and a focus on tender, smoky meats like brisket and beef ribs that many visitors consider among the best outside Texas. The sides such as mac and cheese, coleslaw, and baked beans are frequently praised for flavor, though a few comments note issues with temperature or consistency and some meat being slightly dry or overly salty. A verbally delivered menu and the absence of a fixed menu are repeatedly mentioned, along with occasional service flaws, wait times, and higher prices, especially for sharing platters. The atmosphere is described as warm, casual, and welcoming with attentive staff and a clear passion for pit cooking, drawing locals and visitors from far away who often say the experience is worth the trip. Overall, the brisket and beef ribs emerge as the standout items that keep guests returning, even as some visits remind that peak times can impact service and value.
The Best BBQ Outside of Texas!
We come to Lattuca BBQ year after year all the way from Ontario, & every single visit reminds us why this place is unbeatable. The smoked meat here is absolutely phenomenal-tender, juicy, & packed with flavor that rivals the best Texas barbecue.
The brisket melts in your mouth, the ribs are perfection, & the sides complement everything beautifully. The atmosphere is warm & welcoming, & you can feel the passion behind every dish.
If you're in Montreal & love authentic BBQ, this is THE spot. Worth every mile of the trip!
You don't know an amazing brisket until you have gone to lattuca barbecue. It was tender, juicy & everything you want in brisket. The pulled pork was also delicious even a person who hates pork ate it & loved it. The staff was also amazing & they made me feel at home. Overall I would recommend this to everyone I know. This was a 10/10

We ordered the sharing platter for three people - two beef portions & one pork rib. The portions were huge! I'm someone with a really big appetite, but I couldn't even finish it.
The flavors were absolutely unforgettable. The smoky charcoal aroma combined with the rich, juicy meat was just incredible. Every bite was packed with flavor & left a lasting impression.
This is truly authentic BBQ, both in taste & in portion size. It's a great place to come with friends or family, & one that I would happily return to. Highly recommended if you're looking for delicious, hearty barbecue in Montréal!
Although I haven't had the chance to eat at Lattuca Barbecue yet, I already feel like a valued customer, & that speaks volumes. I had a reservation for Sunday, July 20th, 2025 (3pm-5pm), & was genuinely impressed when someone from the restaurant personally called my cell to cancel in advance due to a family obligation. That level of courtesy & communication is rare these days.
It's clear that Lattuca Barbecue cares not only about the food they serve but also about the people they serve it to. I truly appreciated the heads-up & the respectful way it was handled.
I'm really looking forward to finally visiting & trying their famous brisket. I've heard nothing but great things! If their customer service is any indication, I'm sure the food will be just as incredible.
Lattuca Barbecue totally exceeded my expectations! I originally made a reservation for 3 people but our group ended up doubling last minute 😅, & I was so nervous we'd have to find another spot-especially with it being Grand Prix Weekend. But the staff was super accommodating & got us in with no problem at all. Huge relief!
We had an awesome view of the cars going by & the port, which just added to the whole vibe. As someone from Texas, I'm pretty particular about BBQ, but I have to say-this place nailed it. The brisket was hands down my favorite-so tender & flavorful. Everything we tried was delicious.
Great food, great service, & a chill atmosphere even during a busy weekend. Definitely recommend if you're in Montreal & craving legit BBQ!

Tried the barbecue beef & smoked chicken. The beef was quite greasy, & while flavorful, the rib's crispy edge was too hard to chew & overly salty. The smoked chicken turned out a bit dry.
Service was average - about 20 minutes wait for the order. On the bright side, the country-style background music created a relaxed & pleasant dining atmosphere. Decent experience, but not quite memorable.
If you are a barbecue lover, Lattuca is the place to go! The porc ribs are fall off the bone delicious, seasoned & smoked just right, not too syrupy as is very often the case in other places. My favorite was the brisket, it melts in your mouth & tastes amazing! Great service & friendly atmosphere! Perfect place to chase away those winter blues!
I visited Lattuca Barbecue on Sunday, September 15, & despite the restaurant being extremely busy, I happy with the level of service I received-especially from our waitress, Emma. Even with the high volume of customers, Emma remained incredibly kind, attentive, & professional throughout the meal. Her ability to manage everything with a smile during such a hectic time truly stood out. On top of that, the food was fantastic! The brisket was tender, juicy, & full of flavor-definitely some of the best I've had, next to Gatlans in Texas.
Who knew I had to go to Montreal to get the best barbecue in my life. The meat is so tender, consistent, flavorful & just so perfect. Server was a sweetheart, we got downpoured on towards the end of dinner but everyone was so helpful. The sides leave a bit to be desired in my opinion. Mac & cheese tastes mostly of noodle, Coleslaw was meh, beans were just ok (taste like Busch's). The meat however was fantastic
Pros: tender, fall apart barbecue. Rustic seating with paper towels napkins. Pleasant service accommodating both English & French. Food came out fast. Many styles of beer on tap from one brewery. Great music for the theme. Cons: fixed menu but no printed menu made it challenging to order. Side dishes came to the table cold. Meat was tender, but slightly under seasoned - no salt or BBQ sauce at the table, & no hot sauce.

I had a particularly disappointing experience at this barbecue restaurant. Despite having a very limited menu of fewer than 10 items, the quality was subpar across the board. One would expect that with such a focused selection, each dish would be exceptional, but this was far from the case. The meats were dry & lacked the rich, savory flavor one expects from quality barbecue. Adding to the letdown, barbecue sauce was only provided upon request, which seemed to go against the spirit of a true barbecue establishment. For a restaurant specializing in so few dishes, the overall mediocrity was especially glaring. Given these significant shortcomings, I don't anticipate returning to this restaurant.
Lattuca Barbecue is not to be missed when visiting Montréal. We found the restaurant when visiting a while ago. Now, when we visit the city, we plan our time around when we can have great barbecue. When you walk in to the restaurant there are exposed beams with tables, benches, & chairs. The center of the restaurant is where the barbecue is cut when ordered & placed on trays with the sides. The food is US Southern style with options including brisket, beef ribs, pulled pork, chicken. The sides are smoked baked beans, mac n' cheese, & coleslaw. The food is cooked to perfection; flavorfully amazing & absolutely worth going. A a lot of love & passion is put into the food & it shows. You will leave happy & full. Sitting down for dinner in the restaurant is relaxed & feels like returning home to have family dinner. Owner, John Lattuca, despite having a full house, always makes time to chat at length with his guests. Even though we only make it to Montréal once or twice a year, he always remembers us. It is like old friends continuing an endless conversation. Although you can go without reservations, I would recommend making a reservation.
Absolutely phenomenal! Barbecue!!!! Don't listen to the bad reviews, make a reservation & come sit down & eat! I promise you will not forget it! John the chef lattuca is a gem ! Love this place
