Dans l'ensemble, Jatoba est unanimement salué pour sa cuisine d'une finesse remarquable, ses présentations soignées et son ambiance chic et chaleureuse, que ce soit au restaurant principal ou au bar. La carte propose des plats d'inspiration fusion asiatique mettant en valeur des ingrédients frais comme sashimi, morue et wagyu, accompagnés de cocktails créatifs et de vins bien choisis; de nombreux convives recommandent les sushis Bluefin, les dumplings et les plats de poisson à partager. Le service est globalement attentif et compétent, avec des serveurs et barmen qui savent conseiller et personnaliser l'expérience, même si certains retours mentionnent des moments d'attente ou des petits accrocs ponctuels. L'expérience est souvent décrite comme mémorable et digne d'une occasion spéciale, avec des gestes du chef et une attention chaleureuse, et beaucoup apprécient aussi le cadre et la véranda lumineuse. Bien que le coût soit élevé, nombreux estiment que la qualité et l'ambiance justifient le prix et annoncent leur retour pour tester d'autres plats; quelques expériences au lunch ou au service peuvent toutefois varier et gagner en fluidité.
We went there yesterday for my son's wedding dinner. The food was just OK but what disappointed me the most what our server. He was condescending, rude & couldn't care less about his service. We pay a high price to dine at Jatoba so I excepted a good service which we did not get. All in all we have so many amazing restaurants in Montreal. I have to say unfortunately I was really disappointed in Jatoba.
I recently dined at Jatoba & had an excellent experience. The sashimis were top-notch, incredibly fresh & delicious. If you're lucky enough to get a seat in the back room, you'll enjoy a cozy atmosphere with a great vibe, perfect for a relaxing meal. The crowd tends to be older, which adds to the refined ambiance. Our waitress, Catherine, was fantastic. She helped us decide what to order & her recommendations were spot on. The selection of sake is good, though not extensive, but you'll still find something pleasing. We had the bigger table with a spinning center, which was really cool & made sharing dishes with others a breeze. Overall, Jatoba is a great place for a memorable dining experience.
Beautiful restaurant & the service was great. The food was beautifully presented, however the experience of eating it was mediocre at best. Had a nice date night, took my wife out for her birthday but for the price I paid for the food we ate, I would never go back.
Nous avons découvert Jatoba dans le cadre d'un évènement gastronomique organisé en collaboration avec Visa Infinite. Nous étions un groupe de 6. Super belle ambiance, excellents cocktails & succulents repas. Le service était bien organisé & la soirée était très bien animée par l'hôte. Nous avons tous eu un coup de coeur pour le filet mignon & sa petite sauce! J'y retournerai c'est certain!
About a couple of weeks ago, my friend & I had dinner here to celebrate my milestone birthday. We ordered several different dishes & they were all excellent; the food was a highlight! Delicious, creative, & good-sized portions. Where I was disappointed was in the cold service of our main waiter. The other wait staff (who refilled our water & cleaned the table between dishes) was great. The main waiter was efficient but strictly business, nothing more. When my friend told him it was my birthday & that he wanted to make my dessert special, it's as if the waiter didn't register it at all or didn't care to. We ordered from the dessert menu & were served it regularly while other tables (including the one literally right beside us) received sparklers in their desserts for their own celebrations... ☹️ Thankfully, the food made the night. Compliments to the chef ❤️because what struck me was the play with texture, which many restaurants forget about. It is this attention to detail that really elevated the food for me.

Food tastes good. The tuna & salmon tartare were expensive for the size. Papaya salad is good but lacks some flavor. One dish that was great is the Hamachi sushi & the desserts (caramel & citrus desserts). Service & ambiance are amazing. I would rate it higher if the prices weren't that high for the taste.
I really don't know what to say. It's my favorite restaurant in Montreal. The chef is not even Japanese but is SO talented. Every single dish you order is just 100% good. The vibe & ambiance is the best. It's considered a fancy restaurant. The service is impeccable definitely pricey but justifiable. The drinks are so gooood. The manager is the best. 👌

Tu rentre dans un autre univers. Les plats sont délicieux le service es le meilleur que j'ai eu, mon amoureux & moi nous n'avons pas été déçu lui il a pris 12 morceau de poisson j'ai pris de la viande. Nous avons adoré notre expérience nous allons revenir.
Had not been back in a long while (pre covid) but Jatoba remains a great spot, fantastic quality food, & great service. Inevitably prices have gone up quite a bit, which makes this an expensive eat, & now more of a special occasion place for me. Regardless, still strongly recommend if looking for great Japanese fusion in downtown Montreal.

La nourriture était divine! La morue, un délice. Super beau restaurant. Les cocktails était délicieux & très original en bouche. Mais très décevant au niveau du service! Les bossboys, les suiteurs, l'équipe de soutient faisait très bien leur travail, par contre, le serveur, c'est un des pires services que j'ai eu dans ma vie. C'est décevant de manger aussi bien, mais d'avoir un aussi mauvais service. Guillaume n'était pas du tout attentionné. Je suis serveuse & sincèrement j'ai vraiment été déçue. Mais merci au chef & au reste de l'équipe pour la nourriture succulente & la belle ambiance générale du restaurant.
We had a great experience overall, starting with the affordable valet parking service, to the great ambience & nice decor, going through ordering our drinks, entrance & plate. The duck confit fried rice is a must & for petoncle lovers also try the plate they have. Also as an entrance the fried mushroom is great & the dynamite shrimp are made their own way & it's really good. Will go again
We've been here twice all the way from Ottawa just because the food is so amazing! The key is to sit at the bar so that you can chat with the bartender & learn about new drinks. Our favorite menu items are the pork & shrimp dumplings & the star anise spare ribs with rice!!
