Walked into Impasto just as lunch was winding down & was greeted with warmth. I got a lovely table by the window, perfect for soaking in the ambiance. Service? Flawless. Attentive without being intrusive.
I started with the minestrone, rich, hearty, & full of flavour, followed by the porchetta, which was nothing short of spectacular. Perfectly crisp on the outside, juicy on the inside, & beautifully plated over creamy beans & greens. A balanced dish in every sense.
Wines by the glass were decent, & the prices across the board were very reasonable for the quality. Between the food, the service, & the setting, this is a top-tier spot in Little Italy. No complaints, just compliments.
We arrived early, just before 6, & we were the first customers. However within the hour every seat was full.
The staff was extremely friendly & helpful, with food & drink suggestions.
We came prepared for a lot of food & we were not disappointed. We started with a plate of olives, salami, & mozzarella cheese. The salami was cut paper thin & delicious.
Next we split a green salad. The greens were fresh & the dressing was just right.
Next we split a plate of spinach ravioli with tomato sauce. The flavor was delightful.
Finally the main course. We each had a fish dish, one halibut & one sea bass. The portions were generous, the fish was perfectly cooked, & the sauces were great.
Our server suggested wine pairings that were enjoyable.
We also had cannolis for dessert. They were light with flaky crust & just right.
Overall a great experience. We will definitely return.
Amazing experience at Impasto with my son. The vitello tonnato & the octopus with bone marrow were delicious. The rest of the meal was great too. & a plus...natural wine on the wine list 😍 Highly recommended...we will be back!
We happened upon Impasto on our way to Jean Talon market. What a delightful surprise. We only have superlatives for the time we spent with Charles & his team. The food was incredible , the service impeccable, the wine list extensive & the ambience relaxed & welcoming. Thank you Charles & your team!
Best Italian cuisine i've ever had. Staff were kind & attentive, quick to help with a wine pairing. First night of a new menu & they knocked it out of the park. Will be back.

We had just a wonderful experience at this restaurant! We were in town for the solar eclipse & wandering through Little Italy in search of an Italian restaurant. We walked into Impasto & though they appeared completely full, they settled us at the bar overlooking the kitchen. Nicholas & Anthony were the staff members who assisted us all evening. They were very helpful with the wine & drink selection. We basically just let them pick our antipasto & dinner. Charles was the chef & he answered numerous questions through the meal. We started with the tuna & veal plate & then for entree we shared the mushroom parmesan ricotta gnocchi. We eat out a lot & I can honestly say it has been quite a while since I've had a meal that good. I have a feeling just about everything on their menu tastes this good. I wish I lived nearer! Thank you to Charles & Nicholas & Anthony for giving us a very enjoyable & memorable evening. It may honestly be worth the 21-hour drive from Minnesota to come back just for this restaurant!
My new favourite place to go to for Italian food in Montreal. The food, service, & wine selections are fantastic. Will definitely be visiting when I return.
