We went to the gyubee restaurant today & it was our first time here to eat dinner so we were really excited & the time was 6 pm. The front desk guy at the counter immediately asked us if we were on the waiting list & we said we weren't there yet I said okay put us on the waiting list but he said the only available seats were at 8:30pm so we didn't take it because I still had to wait that long two & a half hours just to eat at this restaurant. So we had nothing to do but wait so we just moved to the other restaurant at Sota BBQ Korean & there we were immediately let in & seated immediately.

Their reservation service is not good. Can't reserve fo 2 people. Only allows 6 or more people for reservations. I live in west island. I called in advance to make reservations but they said join the waitlist on google. We left house at 5:15pm. GPS says 21 mins to get there then still reloading the waitlist page. Says'Says theres no waitlist & come in person. When we got there, THERE IS APPARENTLY WAITING LIST. I ask the guy what time did they open the waiting list & he said 32 mins ago. So theres no way that I checked before that there is no waiting list. There are 29 people ahead of us when we got there. Pretty bad right. Ruin our anniversary & had to come back to west island to look for other restaurants. I know it was a Saturday but, Gyubee needs a better system than that. VERY DISAPPOINTING & CUSTOMER SERVICE IS REALLY NOT GOOD. I was just asking for seat & the guy was so mean. VERY NOT ACCEPTABLE
Went to Gyubee last night & honestly… the food is still good but the experience was just frustrating.
I got there around 8:30 & they told me (multiple times) last call is 9:45. Cool, no problem. But then at **9:35**, our waiter suddenly says'last call.' I asked him isn't it 9:45 & he just gave some vague excuse about needing us to finish our food first. That already didn't sit right.
Then comes the weird part - he tells us there's a **limit of 15 slices per order** & we have to **finish everything before ordering more**. I've been here so many times & that was NEVER a thing. I even asked another staff & they said there's no such rule… so what was that??
& it gets worse - he tells us to finish before ordering more, but then he barely comes by our table. So we finish the food… & just sit there waiting. Like what, are we supposed to flag him down every 2-3 bites just to order again?
Dessert was also rushed for no reason. The crème brûlée is pre-made (which is fine), but he insisted on bringing it right away because it's'last call.' Every other time I've been here, they bring it at the end when you're done eating, even if you ordered at last call. This time suddenly it has to come immediately??
We were also switched from a normal waiter to this guy halfway through, & his attitude just made everything worse. Not attentive, not clear, & honestly felt like we were being treated differently.
Food is still good, but the service lately… yeah, not it. If there are new rules, just say it upfront. Don't make it up as you go.
Probably the most frustrating Gyubee visit I've had.
Really enjoyable dining experience overall. Gyubee in Montreal is a great spot if you're looking for a fun, interactive meal with high-quality ingredients. The all-you-can-eat concept is well executed, & there's a solid variety of meats, sides, & appetizers to choose from.
The quality of the meat stands out, especially the marinated options which are flavorful & tender. Grilling everything at your table adds to the experience & makes it feel more engaging than a typical restaurant outing. It's a great place to go with friends or in a group.
Service was generally good, with staff being attentive & quick to bring out orders, although it can slow down a bit during busy times. The restaurant itself has a lively atmosphere, but it can get quite noisy & a bit crowded.
Overall, a very solid spot for Japanese BBQ in Montreal. Great food & a fun experience, just be prepared for a busy environment.
It was my first Japanese BBQ experience. I realized that this type of food is not for me, but objectively this place is great. Good selection of meats, tasty marinade, & delicious side dishes. I want to especially highlight the service. IT'S GREAT. I was surprised to see this quality of costumer service in Canada.
I visited here many time but my last time was not good because I noticed they changed the meat grade such as prime kalbi (it should not be called prime anymore) & the pork belly thin kind is like the meat the were left from the process. If your ingredient is more expensive, you should degrade something else, not the quality of your food.
Un restaurant idéal pour les groupes ou les gros mangeurs ! Un choix très varié, que ce soit sur la viande ou les accompagnement. De la qualité, viande fraîche, savoureuse & goûtue. Mention spéciale pour la viande miso du moment & les champignons qui étaient excellents.
Un service pas très amical mais efficace & rapide ce qui permet de ne pas avoir d'attente.
Le seul petit point noir est le mode de réservation qui est un peu au petit bonheur la chance.

Food was amazing & sevice was top notch! I'm only knocking down one star on atmosphere because we were sitting close to the door & the cold drafts were uncomfortable, even with a standing heater next to us. Absolutely worth it tho! We went at 5:45 on a friday night, they told us 2.5 hours wait, but it was actually just over an hour, I guess we got lucky!
Une bonne adresse pour la cuisine & le menu à volonté. Le reste est correcte & on peut passer un bon moment entre amis. Le robot serveur ça fait toujours son petit effet mais ça ne débarrasse pas la table!
