Grinder restaurant is located on Notre-Dame street, in the heart of Griffintown. Indeed, this neighborhood located in the southwest of Montreal is dynamic and promising; residential and commercial projects are already underway.
The original decor screams Zébulon Perron (Furco, Buvette à Simone, Philémon). He created a comfortable and warm restaurant, kitchen and raw bar. Grinder characterizes itself by vintage and modern elements such as glass and metal.
On the menu, raw & cooked items: tartares, tatakis, ceviches, carpaccios, etc. Also on the menu, steaks and grilled or braised pieces of meats, all to be shared. Grinder also offers a variety of fish and seafood, served cooked or raw as well. More than a simple steakhouse, all food lovers will find something to their liking among their selection of fresh products.
A 100% of their wine list consists of privately imported wines, always changing with the seasons, and of course focusing on wines produced while respecting nature.

Dès l'entrée, l'atmosphère élégante mais décontractée donne le ton. Le personnel est attentionné, professionnel & parfaitement à l'écoute, ajoutant une touche personnalisée à chaque visite.
Côté assiette, c'est un sans-faute : des viandes d'une qualité exceptionnelle, parfaitement maîtrisées, des accompagnements savoureux & créatifs, & une carte des vins soigneusement sélectionnée. Mention spéciale pour le tartare de boeuf & le steak tomahawk, des incontournables à chaque passage.

We were really craving a good steak dinner during our trip to Montreal & came across Grinder on Google as one of the more casual steak spots that still had reservations available. The overall vibe of the restaurant was chic & cozy-definitely a nice atmosphere to enjoy a meal.
We ordered the surf & turf platter for 3, & the tomahawk steak was cooked to absolute perfection-perfectly medium rare & super flavorful. One of the sides we chose was the mushrooms, & they were a standout-highly recommend! The lobster, unfortunately, was a bit of a letdown-it didn't taste very fresh-but the quality of the tomahawks definitely made up for it. The cocktails were also well done & complemented the meal nicely.
The only downside for us was the table setup. The table was quite small for the size of the platter & portions, & with the way it was arranged for three people, it felt a bit awkward & cramped.
Overall, though, it was a solid steak dinner in a great setting. Would come back again, maybe with a bigger group & better table setup!

Firstly, shoutout to Jake for being an amazing server. This guy was on point from start to finish & really made our night, he works hard & remembers details, great hospitality. The vibes here were awesome, the appetizers was really good, the cocktails were amazing… unfortunately they fell short on the meat. The Wagyu was chewy like a tire, cut way too think & the tomahawks were not good. We'd come back here but we'd probably avoid the steaks, everything else truly was awesome. Jake you're the man!

My friends & I took the Tomahawk with lobsters, shrimps & scallops & it was okay. The steak was good but seafood was dry/overcooked but hey they give you sauces for your steak that you can dip or the butter lemon. The only sauce that was good for me was the chimichurri & the mushrooms were on the salty side which I thought was just me but my friends also thought the same. I don't know if the value is there though honestly as we didn't think the portions were enough for the price we paid. Service is where it shines here as they were all awesome but I do wish they would have introduced themselves so I can give a kudos here. The atmosphere is where it falls the most as the music was very loud & we really had to talk loud amongst ourselves. Overall I wouldn't come back because of the atmosphere as I couldn't enjoy my food & have a good conversation but if loud music is your thing, then this place is for you, just don't order seafood!

This place is an absolute must if you're looking for a fantastic atmosphere, delicious food, & exceptional service. The valet service was a lifesaver-finding parking in Montreal can be a challenge, so it made our visit even smoother. Special shoutout to our server, Benjamin, who guided us effortlessly through the menu & made sure we had everything we needed. We ordered the Tomahawk for three, which came with lobster, shrimp, scallops, & three side dishes. The cheddar mash was incredible-a must-have! The steak was perfectly seasoned, & every bite was full of flavor. I'd happily order it again. Portion-wise, it was just right for two people (or maybe we just have a hearty appetite, haha!). For dessert, we went with Benjamin's recommendation, a Montreal favorite. I don't remember the name, but it was a delightful warm dessert paired with cold ice cream-a perfect combination. To top it all off, we were treated to complimentary espresso shots, a wonderful way to end the meal. Overall, everything was perfect. The service made us feel right at home, & we left with full hearts & full stomachs. Highly recommended!

Une expérience exceptionnelle au restaurant Grinder ! Le Tomahawk était tout simplement parfait : une cuisson maîtrisée à la perfection, tendre & savoureux à souhait. Le service était irréprochable, avec une équipe attentionnée & professionnelle. L'ambiance du restaurant est chic & conviviale, idéale pour une soirée réussie. Je recommande vivement ce plat pour les amateurs de viande de qualité. Une vraie découverte culinaire, j'y reviendrai sans hésiter !

Reservation is a must. We tried the surf & turf platter for 4 . It cost 89$ per person. Including half lobster , 1 shrimp, 1 escalope & big tomahawk for sharing , & side dishes. It was a perfect meal , friendly staff & nice memories for graduation party of my daughter Tia. 😘

This is a must visit for anyone traveling to Montreal looking for a nice cocktail, excellent service, a perfect steak & a wonderful time. Our service was spectacular, the 3 person option for the steak was delicious & perfect for our party. A perfectly cooked 40oz Tomahawk steak, 3 half lobster tails, 3 shrimp, 3 scallops, 3 sides & a beautiful dessert. I feel like I could've got a lot more sides. Everyone was here for a great experience & we got that. The kitchen was busy. Espresso martini was astounding. The sauces that came with the meat: bbq, chimmichurri, red wine, & hot pepper sauce. The tomahawk came with the bone & of course we all took a nice bite of the meat left on the bone. Only way to do it if you're going to come to a place like this & enjoy yourself. 10/10 will come again.

I went for the first time last night & ordered the rib steak. Unfortunately this was the worst rib steak I've ever had - tough, chewy & flavourless. I really wish I had sent it back - for the price this should be an amazingly cut. My friends shared the tomahawk & it was way better - everyone tasted my steak & agreed it was terrible. I wish the server had come & asked how everything was & I would have sent it back but she never came. The pudding Chomeur & vanilla soft serve was noteworthy & delicious. I would come back again just for that dessert & the tomahawk I sadly watched my friends eat with envy. The vibe is great too & the manager was also exceptional, giving us a bottle of wine on the house & a complimentary dessert platter after our server spilled wine on my friend. Overall, Grinder is still worthwhile despite my bad steak & all my friends enjoyed their meals.

Grinder's steaks are always great. Just like once you watch high-definition TV, you can never go back to the DVD era. Once you enjoy the taste experience of a real good steak, you can never go back to the VCD era. This is only a good steakhouse can bring a high-quality experience to foodies. Grinder's Tomahawk Steak is full of flavor, 40oz is quite satisfying, & comes with four classic sauces. The set price of the Tomahawk Steak already includes two side dishes of your choice. Happiness lies in this moment! & I really like its atmosphere. There is a DJ playing good songs for a great vibe.
