Great place 👍. Food was excellent & staff were great. Prices were high a bit but it's worth.
Great gastro bar. Food was excellent & staff were great. Prices were high but you get what you pay fo
I've been here twice & the food has been really good both times. Definitely worth a visit! Prices can vary depending on what you order, but the quality makes it worthwhile.
Delicious food overall, it was pricey but fair & the atmosphere was rather rustic in a nice way. The waitress did end up forgetting one of our entrées but in the end we were full so it wasn't so bad. Highly recommend the beef short ribs.
Food was a solid 10. Atmosphere? On point.
But when it comes to service, the details matter - & unfortunately, that's where things completely fell apart.
I've never seen a server look so lost. It took 45 minutes just to get a bottle of wine, & when it finally arrived, the opening process was awkward & honestly embarrassing.
Drinks & shots were forgotten. Our order wasn't even punched in until 30 minutes after we placed it; only noticed when the server came back to clarify something with a friend.
When you're charging premium prices for food & wine, the level of service has to match. Sadly, it didn't, & it really did ruin what could have been a great night.
Burrata was OK - nothing special & not a lot of flavours
The steak was overly salty & you can't tell it's dry aged.
The waitress was nice but does not give good food recommendations. Servers throughout the meal kept carrying plates & hot food over my head. Near the end of the meal, they took my plate without asking & they constantly tried to kick us out by trying to collect our food without asking whether we were finished.
For the price point, you're better off trying something else.
First & last visit. The place looks upscale, but the experience didn't live up to the hype. For a bill of $253 for two, we were served a single small steak, a bit of salad, two mojitos - & yes, I had to pay extra for the fries.
At that price point, the portions should be generous, & basics like fries shouldn't come as an add-on. It felt more like we paid for the presentation than the food.
Disappointing overall. Montreal has many restaurants that deliver far better value & satisfaction for half the price.
The Food is really great. The price is fair. & the Service is Very good.
Experience never disappoints. Amazing burger for the price as well!
My friends & I took the Tomahawk with lobsters, shrimps & scallops & it was okay. The steak was good but seafood was dry/overcooked but hey they give you sauces for your steak that you can dip or the butter lemon. The only sauce that was good for me was the chimichurri & the mushrooms were on the salty side which I thought was just me but my friends also thought the same. I don't know if the value is there though honestly as we didn't think the portions were enough for the price we paid. Service is where it shines here as they were all awesome but I do wish they would have introduced themselves so I can give a kudos here. The atmosphere is where it falls the most as the music was very loud & we really had to talk loud amongst ourselves. Overall I wouldn't come back because of the atmosphere as I couldn't enjoy my food & have a good conversation but if loud music is your thing, then this place is for you, just don't order seafood!
I know the truth, I am but a plebeian Peasent, while I have done well tilling the meagar land given to me by my sovereign leaders, I have not yet risen to the station of being permitted to attend the the fine establishments where our overlords frequent. Attending this place, however, is like stumbing upon a crumb that has fallen from our masters table, a gem that had slipped from the treasure trove & not yet been noticed by the powers that be. For one as myself this was an experience that my descendants will treasure in the collective memories for generations! My infiltration was difficult, & I suspect they are on to me. The first test, one of literacy was easy, despite my hesitation. They had an arrow at what appeared to be the entrance pointing to the left, above it it said "Entrance". Following this arrow led me down a long dark hallway which increased my concern I would be found out, while also invoking feelings of exclusivity & high status. Thankfully we were greeted by a jewel of a hostess asking us for our reservation with a magical smile, before my nerves gave out. Upon sitting down I made my first blunder, the waiter, Diego, said "Flat water or sparkling?" Not expecting this test I yet rose to occasion & said "Peirrior or Club soda bubbly?" To this the waiter looked at me with confusion & said "S.Pellegrino sir." I then realized my blunder: only peasents like myself drink club soda when pretending to be fancy. The waitress, Mary, who came after, however, did not have a chance to receive the notification of my mistake, so suspected nothing. The menu was a treasure trove of incredible eats & foods that were foreign to my humble palette. While there was a distinct lack of pictures in the menu (thankfully my grade 3 teacher had taught me the animal & plant words) they had everything from Lobster Spaghetti to AAA ALBERTA BEEF BLACK ANGUS GROWN STRAIGHT FROM THE GROUND WITH THE FINEST HERBS & SPICES. However they had an option for shared whole table variety! My fellow co-consipators & I chose that option. They saved me from literacy blunder by pointing out that the price on the menu was per person, not per table. Words are hard & tricky inventions of wizards & accountants to keep the common man down The food was incredible, a flavor adventure of imagination & food sorecery if the highest level. Appetizers were divine drops of dews from the heavens, oysters arranged in a circle ready for us to consume them the way our overlords consume our labor, & a green sauce that might be made of avocado & olive oil, two fruits from two diffenent parts of the world coming together in a collision that was not available without the pirate extermination of 1952. & Millenials loving avocado toast. Dam Millenials always miss the true combinations. Avocados pair better with olive oil than toast. Finally the dessert did us in. We all lost our composure & fought like animals over the delight before us! At this point the waitress said "your reservation time is over sir" to which point I looked at the wonderful decor, reminiscent of a luxury pub from the industrial revolution, with a saltwater tank, & electricity, & modern day people. & RAN- To pay of course. Oh & the Baked octopus was my favorite. Don't steal it from my plate Shanel.
The taste of the burger & dessert was great, but the price of alcoholic drinks is unreasonable!
The atmosphere was really good. I mean really, really good. The food was also good. The steak cut was not absolutely perfect to my liking, which is a shame given that this is a butchery in the first place, then a restaurant. The price is premium. But that is expected for this level of food, service & atmosphere. We had a free valet parking. I am not sure, however, if this is something offered by the restaurant or it was provided by the organizers of our event.
Nice restaurant in the Ville-Marie neighborhood of Montreal. The steaks & burgers are great & all the sides were amazing. I had the Chimichurri skirt steak & it was moist & tender. The Chimichurri was very fresh & maybe could have used a little more time for the flavor to develop. The wine selection was great & reasonably priced. The servers were very busy & we did some waiting but they were very professional & friendly. We were seated quickly at a four-top but were crowded by a large table next to us & I was repeatedly bumped during dinner which was frustrating. We were in the open air seating area which was delightful but it could maybe use one less table.
Honestly the vibe & aesthetic are top notch. I truly felt that I left montreal for a second & got submerged into a different atmosphere. The service was amazing, everyone was timely & on point. Super professional, kind, & lively. The food however, is not the best, comparing it to its competitors, in terms of quality & price. We had the french onion soup, salmon tartare, the hanger steak & the halibut fish plate. Like it was definitely edible & enjoyable, but would I come here again? No. It just wasn't that tasteful nor astonishing. Because there are better options like terrasse Nelligan & The Keg Steakhouse. An overall 7.5/10z
Surf & turf platter (for 2) is pricey but very good! It comes with two sides - I recommend the Brussel sprouts & the mushrooms. The NY steak was cooked perfectly & scallops were perfect.
Great food & ambiance. The cream of tomatoe soup was good & tasted a bit like a rosé sauce. The focaccia that came with the burrata tasted like a good hot dog bread (a bit too thick), but the burrata had good flavours surrounding it. The vegetarian option was pretty good (mushroom meatballs). They tasted like a mushroom giant falafel, the pea purée & the apple salad & vinaigrette accompanied it well. Last of all, the dessert platter. Ice cream was regular but went well with the fudge brownie, which was decadent & the pudding chomeur (really good). The cheesecake was average. Overall, it is a good option for vegeterians but a bit pricey for the quality given.
I went for the first time last night & ordered the rib steak. Unfortunately this was the worst rib steak I've ever had - tough, chewy & flavourless. I really wish I had sent it back - for the price this should be an amazingly cut. My friends shared the tomahawk & it was way better - everyone tasted my steak & agreed it was terrible. I wish the server had come & asked how everything was & I would have sent it back but she never came. The pudding Chomeur & vanilla soft serve was noteworthy & delicious. I would come back again just for that dessert & the tomahawk I sadly watched my friends eat with envy. The vibe is great too & the manager was also exceptional, giving us a bottle of wine on the house & a complimentary dessert platter after our server spilled wine on my friend. Overall, Grinder is still worthwhile despite my bad steak & all my friends enjoyed their meals.
