Cannot say enough good things about this place!
Food was excellent! The scallops & hanger steak were to die for. An explosion of flavours. My friend had the bass & loved it as well.
Desserts were also delicious. Chocolate was great but the real star was the apple cake.
Big shout out to Amelie who was excellent. Warm & friendly service.
Very nice atmosphere on a Wednesday night.
Casavant has definitely been added to my fave restos in montreal.
The food was good but the overall experience was disappointing. The chairs are so uncomfortable I left with back pain. The smell in my hair & jacket after dinner was unbearable. The water wasn't great, the bread ($8) wasn't worth it & the portions were quite small for the price. The food itself was tasty but a bit too salty. Overall, great cooking, but not worth the discomfort or the price, the space is very small & extremely loud & the tables are tiny, barely enough space for the plates. Everyone ends up eating off the little bread plates because the main dishes don't fit. It feels ridiculous to be eating like that.
It's presented as'sharing style,' but it just turns into everyone crowding around small plates.
It's unreasonable for a Michelin-guided spot. Cloché Penché in Quebec City is in another league, sky & earth difference compared to Casavan.
Third time at Casavant & I have to say it's probably my favourite restaurant in Montreal right now. The food & service were incredible, not one negative thing to say about the experience.
We got the bread, beet salad, fish & bavette & finished it off with the chocolate mousse. Not one miss, everything was delicious & a must.
Utterly outstanding neighborhood restaurant. We had a perfect evening, made so special by our wonderful waitress who explained everything in the menu with passion & helped us make some great choices. This restaurant really cares about everything it does & the small details make for an incredible overall experience.
Absolutely amazing food with a great sommelier who helped us navigate the wine list
Great food & service, only problem is that there are lots of flies flying around.
Casavant is one of the most beautiful restaurants tucked away in the neighborhood. I really enjoyed the clams casino & the halibut w/ mushrooms, beans & fresh herbs. The wine selections were pretty good. If you're solo or with a friend, I recommend a seat at the bar. The bar back is gorgeous & you can watch the action in the tiny kitchen. The bartender was very friendly & offered recommendations based on my Pescatarian diet & love of wine.
Excellent service de A à Z, on s'entend bien parler, vraiment une perle dans le quartier!! Les pétoncles fondent direct dans la bouche & sans parler du filet de bar qui explosait de saveurs! Définitivement une de mes meilleurs expériences à Montréal!
This was a great dining experience. Looks like a cozy neighborhood spot, I wish I lived closer. We ordered the whole menu & honestly it was some of my favorite food I've had this year. Highly recommend.
This place was absolutely amazing! Everything was beyond perfect. If we visit Montreal again, we will definitely come back & try different dishes here. The service was excellent I wish I had asked the name of the person who took care of us, but we truly thank them! My only wish is that you keep striving for even better, although I don't think it could get any better than this 😊 Wishing you continued success!
Giancarlo was such a fantastic waiter, 2e had a wonderful meal & wine recommendations. Fresh local food, great ambiance. Would recommend!
Another restaurant checked off the canadas top 100 list. She did not disappoint
We enjoyed our dinner here last night. We had a late dinner reservation & was very satisfied. Our server was attentive. The restaurant only had French menu & he described each dish in English lol. We ordered the steak tartare, scallops, sea bass & hanger steak. We didn't get dessert as we had some waiting for us at home. Also ordered wine & cocktails which was delicious.
Très très bon restaurant moderne, les plats son très bien exécutés, savoureux, équilibrés. Vraiment super.
Choix de vins très variés & intéressant.
J'y retourne.
I'll be quick to the point.
The food…
Tartlette, Provençale
Beautiful presentation: mustard creamy sauce. The vegetable were perfect roasted over the grill. Nice dark streaks. Crust was crispy.
Beef tartare with smoked mackerel
The smoked mackerel adds another level to the taste. It's very dynamic. The flavour profile reminds me of ikura.
Halibut
Succulent & extremely buttery, melt in your mouth fish. The fish was salted, but balanced well when you combined it with the corn which was sweet & the greens.
Lobster with squid ink pasta
Al dente pasta. I really enjoyed the creamy tomato sauce. The lobsters were slightly over cooked, but it didn't matter much. I especially liked the pea shoots on top. It made the dish very unique.
The service: high quality & very attentive. Helped with the blinds when the sun was blinding me. Very friendly & easy to talk to. The food came out relatively quickly, one after the other. The whole team were outstanding.
